Shat-Chakra-Bhedan is a mantra - meditation on the seven chakras (energy centers) which energizes and bal- ances the person on all levels. Shat-Chakra-Bhedan will be followed by a 45 minute session of Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep. It is a state of conscious Deep Sleep. In Meditation, you remain in the Waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. However, in Yoga Nidra, you leave the Waking state, go past the Dreaming state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake. Yoga Nidra is a state that is very relaxing, but is also used by Yogis to purify the Samskaras, the deep impressions that are the driving force behind Karma. $20.00 First Sunday Sadhana - 7-9 a.m. the first Sunday of every month: Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4, Jan. 1, Feb. 5 Angie Hall Main Street Studio. Deepening Your Sadhana - December 3 12:30-2:30 Washington Street StudioTonya Keach

Sadhana is our own personal, spiritual practice. When we delve into the depths of our yoga practice we areexploring our most intimate internal landscape. In this two hour workshop we will discuss and utilize the use ofpranayama (breathwork), breath retention (kumbaka), internal focus (drishti), and bandhas (energetic locks). When weincorporate these into the active practice of asanas (physical postures) we find that our attention is drawn even deep-er inside, and our connection to prana (our life force) is strengthened. We will experience a series of practices thatbrings health, harmony, and above all, a connection with dharma and our divine inner light. We will also practiceStage 3 Kripalu yoga-a practice of surrendering to this life force, no longer moving from the direction of the mind, butthe beauty of the heart. Our time together will conclude with chanting and meditation. $20.00 members free

Restorative Yoga - Dec 18 (Sunday 10 a.m. - Noon) Main Street StudioDebra Risberg

Supported by various props, one experiences the yoga postures as profoundly relaxing and deeply rejuvenat-ing. This is "healing through non-efforting." In the Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali it is said, “Posture must include the dualqualities of relaxation and alertness.” Through the practice of pratyahara (withdrawal or direction of the senses), thispractice restores balance to the autonomic nervous system, greatly reducing stress. In our culture, great emphasis isplaced on activity and movement. But health requires that we have an appropriate balance of activity and rest, move-ment and stillness. Restorative Yoga is a core practice which helps you to experience the ease which underlies activeyoga practice. $20.00 members free

Yin Yoga and Meditation - January 22 (Sunday 10:00 - 12:00 p.m.) Main Street StudioDebra Risberg

Yin Yoga is not "yet another" brand name of Yoga postures, it is part of a larger conception of Yoga that canbe called Taoist Yoga. The fundamental tenet of Taoism is that all things can be described by their mutually comple-mentary Yin and Yang aspects.

A Taoist analysis of Yoga practice emphasizes the critical difference between Yin and Yang tissues of thebody. Muscles and blood are Yang, connective tissues and joints are Yin. Yin and Yang tissues do not respond totraining in the same way and a student’s practice becomes more effective when the difference is understood.

Most forms of Yoga practiced today are Yang, they emphasize muscular movement and contraction. By con-trast Yin Yoga targets the connective tissue of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Yin postures are held three to five toten minutes at a time. This type of practice complements the more muscular styles of Yoga and is a great aid forlearning to sit in meditation. $20.00 members free

Pre-registration is required for all of the workshops and events. Members need to register too, for we need to know how many people to anticipate.
