Case Study: Goldman SachsPresentations as Brand Tools
The key to creating quality branded presentations is consistency; consistency o design
and consistency o application. A key brand touch point which requires a high levelo consistency or Goldman Sachs are client acing documents and presentations. All
Goldman Sachs presentations are ormatted to strict guidelines by their Presentation
department ensuring consistent application o branding as well as streamlining costs and
creating signifcant time savings.
Each day Goldman Sachs creates hundreds o presentations. Each Goldman Sachs
presentation is ormatted to a consistent look and eel. Ater client meetings these
documents live on as examples o the quality o Goldman Sachs work.
Goldman Sachs ound using graphic designers or presentations was costly, time
consuming, and delivered poor consistency. Training banking teams assistants to ormat
presentations proved inefcient, yielded poor consistency, and was cost prohibitive. The
solution was to extensively train a small number o specialist presentation sta and create
a Presentation Centre in each large regional ofce. As bankers produced all o their data
and pitch materials using Microsot Ofce, this became the presentation centres design
package o choice. No presentation was allowed to leave Goldman Sachs unless it had
been sent through the specialist sta at their presentation centre.
Removing presentation assistance rom a bankers assistants job allowed assistants to
support multiple deal teams reducing assistant headcount and support/administration
costs. Running costs o presentation centres are careully recorded and rebilled to clients
where the pitch is successul, markedly reducing their operating cost. The time and cost
saving benefts o presentation centres led to universal adoption at top tier investment
banks and proessional service frms.
