At the beginning of June this year a number ofmasons from the UK, dnd other jurisdictions, travelled to the Pyrenees to assist in thefounding of English-speaking Freemasonry in

Andorra.

Andorra has a large English-speakingexpatriate communiW and welcomes some tenmillion visitors each year, many of whom arealso English-speaking. It was thereforerecognized that there was a need for Masonry -

in Andorra to cater for this constituency. TheGrand Master of Andorra, M.R"Germi AntoniD'Ortad6 i Lloveras-Puig, also wished toestablish the Royal Arch in Andorra and it wasdecided to establish a Masonry UniversalChapter. The support of the United GrandLodge of England was obtained and the projectwas effectively "sponsored" by the Province ofWorcestershire and our Provincial GrandMaster, RW Bro Richard Goddard, At the sametime, the Supreme Grand Chapter of Englandgave its own support and encouragement tothe founding of the Order in Andorra and theGrand Superintendent of Worcestershire, E

Comp Richard B W Price, was authorized bySupreme Grand Chapter to act as theConsecrating Officer of the proposed Chapter.Supreme Grand Chapter also arranged for thewarrants of two moribund Chapters to betransferred to the GH, which will becomerespectively a Catalan-speaking and a French-speaking Chapter, thus forming a firmfoundation for the Royal Arch in Andorra.

With the help of the Craft and Chapter Rulers inpromoting the events and the wider audienceto be reached in cyberspace, applications weresoon received not just from Europe but frommany other regions of the world -support ofCountry Members is a very important part ofMasonry Universal Lodge and Chapter inAndorra.

The consecrations took place on Thursday 1stand Friday 2nd of June.

On Saturday afternoon, the Brethren presentwere privileged to be invited to the meeting ofthe Grand t-odge of Andorra, where the R WProvincial Grand Masteq Richard Goddard wasgiven Honorary Membership by the GrandMaster Antoni d'Ortado. At a Dinner for theLadies given in the evening R W Bro RichardGoddard and Mrs Helena Goddard were able toreturn the favour with a presentation to theGra nd Master f rom the Province ofWorcestershire.

It is even rumouredthat the use of such a slipper may beestablished as a Lodge tradition.

The series of meetings which took place lastseason produced a great response from theBrethren, together with much discussionresulting in many ideas and suggestions aimedat "Secu ring the Futu re" of ou r Province.

The team, led by David Cowell, GerrardOldham, John Tapson and, latterly, John Linghave been working on collating the responsesunder a series of headings with a view tohelping the implementation of these ideas. The four headings are:- Meeting Places,WAML, Lodge Guidance Notes and Publicity.

CONSECRATION OF GEORGE TAYLOR LODGE NO 9819

ffie-.@ffiffi,

Lodge consecrations are not so frequentnowadays, two so far in 2006 is therefore quitesomething; but no-one who was at RainbowHill for the consecration of George Taylor willforget it. July 16th was as hot a day as any thissummer and many of the Founders arrived forthe 1p.m. rehearsal in T-shirts and othercasual attire. They were put through theirpaces by the Prov D C, W Bro Mike Cole, withhis inimitable blend of geniality, humour andunchallengeable authority. This having endedto Mike's satisfaction, he was rewarded with a

prolonged round of applause, then everyonedashed down to the car park, where Bro, DeanClarke, a Founder, had his ice-cream van; allproceeds generously going to the RMTGB

appeal, Never was such refreshment morewelcome.

The Consecration was, needless to say, immaculately performed by the R W Prov G Mand his team, with notable contributions fromthe small but beautifully balanced Provincialchoir under the direction of W Bro Tim Morrisand the Prov G.Organist, W Bro AdrianLeopard. One hundred and ten Brethren wereaccommodated in the Temple and someonehad had the foresight to organize four largeelectric fans in the corners; this, plus the factthat the emergency door in the south-eastcorner was propped open, made conditionsbearable! The Prov G M had also givenpermission for bottles of water to be broughtin, and numerous Brethren availed themselvesof this.

The Consecration over/ there was a shortintermission; then the Lodge's Oratoq W BroJeremy Mallin, addressed the Brethren withsome observations on the choice of theLodge's name. George Taylor was a memberof Hope & Charity Lodge and in 1BB1 was thefounding Worshipful Master of LechmereLodge, now Lechmere Volunteer, No. 1874,which in those days met in Kidderminster. He

was the brains behind the Exhibition ofMasonic memorabilia held in the WorcesterGuildhall in August 1884. After the success ofthis, the Province offered to acquire George'slarge personal collection, which he sold at costand that was the original basis of the ProvincialMuseum.

The Master-designate, W Bro John Hart, thepresent Curator of the Museum, was theninstalled by W Bro. Stuart Edwards, Asst P G M,

in a most gracious manner. AII but three of theProvince's meeting-places were represented inthe ranks of the officers invested, as well astwo other Provinces.

Ninety eight Brethren sat down to the FestiveBoard, The Charity Steward, W Bro DerekTaylor, had very efficiently solicitedcontributions from the Founders in advanceand these, added to the ice-cream takings, thecollection taken from visitors and the nominalfines levied from those Founders who omittedto wear thelr jewels, realised a total of wellover f1,000 which was presented to theProvincial Grand Master. An evening toremember!
