  • Eucharistic Adoration During the Year of the Eucharist 2020

The Woburn Catholic Collaborative has hosted a

monthly Holy Hour that features Eucharistic

Adoration and a variety of communal prayer. For the

past year, the level of participation suggests that we

move from a monthly to a quarterly observance

starting in January and continuing through April, July

and October 2020. We will invite several groups in

the collaborative to commit to participate in the Holy

Hour. Among those groups, we will ask the Choir,

Collection Counters, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy

Communion, Fr. Leo Lynch Youth Ministry Program,

Friends of St. Anthony, Lectors, Men’s Group, Parish

Finance Council, Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Staff

and the Saturday Scriptural Rosary Group to commit

to join in a designated Holy Hour during the year. I

am grateful for the continued loyal support of the

collaborative clergy and our music ministry in service

to this devotion. Deacon Ed will be coordinating the

    sponsorships.

    Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

It’s all about the Law this week. Sirach gives us great insight, “If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you;” The choice is ours to live by the law or not. In the Gospel of Matthew,

Jesus sets the bar high for us—it’s not simply about doing good and avoiding evil, there’s more: “whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the

kingdom of heaven.” What kind of example do you set with adults and with children? Pray for what you need: Kindness? Patience? Temperate speech? Self-control?

    Adult Faith Formation - Conversion

Conversion is an Adult Faith Formation program that was developed and produced by Bishop Robert Barron and

    Word on Fire Ministries.

The Woburn Catholic Collaborative is offering this program on the following six Thursdays during Lent in the Father

Anadore Hall at St. Barbara church at 6:30pm.

Flu Season is in Full Swing!

The good news is that influenza strains that have been characterized in Massachusetts this season to date are covered by the current influenza vaccine. Getting a flu vaccine is your best protection, and it’s not too late. If you feel the symptoms of the flu coming on, please do yourself, colleagues, students, and fellow parishioners a favor and stay home. The flu is highly contagious. Symptoms of flu can include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills, and fatigue. Some people with the flu will not have a fever.

    Mass and Extreme Winter Weather

During winter months, we plan to maintain the weekly and daily Mass schedules within reason of safety for

clergy and worshippers. A priest will make every reasonable effort to celebrate a scheduled weekday or

    weekend Mass.

In the event pedestrian or vehicle travel is not recommended or the Governor declares a state of

emergency for winter weather that includes a travel ban, the priest will not travel to celebrate the Mass.

Notice will be made on Channels 5 & 7 and The Woburn

Patch. Worshippers should not come to Mass.

You do not incur a moral burden or sin for missing Mass during dangerously inclement weather. Our Lord wants us to be safe and to use good sense! Options to watch televised Mass are readily available. Please use them.
