One cannot enter the season without being thankful for the ones we love and care for while reflecting on those who are no longer with us and those less fortunate. Last month, many members of your cooperative enjoyed a plate of biscuits, gravy, pancakes, sausage, and applesauce at your annual member appreciation breakfast in Butternut. Our many thanks to those who donated food to the Lord’s Cupboard as the substantial contributions to those in need illustrate that the spirit of giving is in the air. Giving to those less fortunate is an annual ritual at Price Electric, and this year is no exception as the cooperative is once again offering donations to needy youths within the community through the Santa’s Elves Giving Tree in our front lobby. If you are interested in participating, just stop on by. One thing’s for sure—if you decide to donate, you will make a young child very happy and grateful. “We are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmastime.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder I want to thank you for working with us and allowing us to serve you this past year, from construction activities to right-of-way clearing, to accessing your property to identify outage related problems on your distribution system. As I sit down to convey my thoughts to you, some of the Washington Nationals baseball players are trying to come down from the excitement of winning the World Series. Other than the Nationals, the 1933 Washington Senators are the only team from the Capital to play in the World Series, and the Senators were defeated, while the Nationals capitalized on their opportunity and are now included in the record books. No one person made this possible; it took the entire team working as a unit to win the series. Babe Ruth said it best, “The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime.” How true he was. Shifting sports, the NFL is in its 100th season, wow how time flies. More significantly, the Green Bay Packers are leading the NFC North. For those green and gold supporters reading this, “Go Pack, Go!” On the political front, the president’s impeachment inquiry continues in deliberation. Historically, the only two presidents impeached by the House of Representatives with committing “high crimes and misdemeanors” were Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson, and neither was convicted by the Senate. What will ultimately happen? We’ll have to stay tuned to see. The hurricane-force winds continue to push the fast- moving wildfires in California, which have intensified in recent years and appear to be initiated by climate change as conditions are drier than years past, creating a high probability of fire with the slightest of ignition source. The average temperature has increased by two degrees Fahrenheit since the beginning of the 20th century. In Wisconsin, we are experiencing wetter conditions, which coincides with projections of more precipitation in the upper Midwest. These weather patterns continue to affect our farmers from managing historical predictability to an unknown future. Winter’s on its way and the Farmer’s Almanac is forecasting a cold and snowy coming season with a slew of snowstorms. Sounds great for energy sales and snowmobilers, but I think many are shrieking at the thought Wishing you a very Merry Christmas

2019 BREAKFAST IN THE NORTHLAND

Thank you to all of the members who joined us for the 2019 Breakfast in the Northland member appreciation breakfast

held on Saturday, October 19, at Butternut Park. Hope to see you at next year’s breakfast!

Price Electric’s CEO, Bill Caynor, and HR Administrator, Wendee Wagner, met with Butternut School’s 6th through 8th graders in November to discuss careers in the electric distribution industry. Students learned about careers at the Cooperative, with discussion about the departments in the company,andthevariousrolesemployeesfill.Theylearnedabout the education needed to work in particular positions and the training associated with linework. They also were able to tryonsomelineworkerprotectivegearandseefirsthandthedamage electricity can cause when they participated in hands-on examination of damaged power line equipment, as well as hear stories about strange things lineworkers sometimes see on the job. Price Electric is proud to participate in educational opportunities for students in its service area.
