Welcome to Opportunities for Inclusion’s Winter 2021-2022 Recreation Program!
Hello all! We’re excited to bring you our Recreation Brochure for December and January! Watch City Self Advocates will be back in-person! Also, join us for dance class, games, museums, and sports! All virtual events will remain free, but we will be charging for in-person events. See more details inside! Due to the popularity of many of the activities, we ask that you call or email in advance to reserve a spot before sending in your registration! Details: Snuggle up with some hot cocoa, warm blankets or a craft and watch a holiday themed movie with us through Zoom. Participants can craft while watching or just have a relaxing night watching a holiday movie together through Zoom.

Details: Let’s listen to our favorite music together! You can submit your requests and we’ll hear current hits and old favorites of your choice.

Details: Join us as we embark on virtual field trips to fun and exotic locations and ex-perience the sights and sounds of a new adventure! We’ll travel far and wide to plac-es you may have heard about but haven’t visited, all from the comfort of your home. Enjoy the trip!

1. Participants must be fully vaccinated to register for in-person recreation activities. Masks are REQUIRED for in-person events. We are required to follow the guidelines and restrictions of any given venue (this includes COVID-19 re-strictions, and any others). 2. Participants must register and pay before attending a program. To register, complete the two page registration form. Then bring or mail your completed form with payment to the below address. 56 Chestnut St., Waltham MA 02453. To pay by credit card, call John at 781-899-1344 x4120 3. Registration in any program may be limited due to staff and/or space limitation. Be sure to register as soon as possible. To know whether a program is full, please call John Freiberg. 4. Due to the popularity of many of the activities we ask that you call or email in advance to reserve a spot before sending in your registration! 5. Please contact John Freiberg, Recreation Manager, with any questions about accessibility and participant’s stamina and mobility requirements. 6. Recreation Staff will be responsible for communicating with the applicant relative to assessment, support, program availability and program regulations. Opportunities for Inclusion staff will make final admission decisions. 7. If an individual needs one-on-one assistance for daily living activities, medical and/or behavioral needs, it is the responsibility of the family and/or Residential Staff to provide care for that participant. We are not able to provide one-on-one assistance. 8. Once admitted, participants must make the commitment to attend each event. If you are not able to attend, please notify staff at 781-899-1344 x4120. No refunds for missed activities. If an event is cancelled on our behalf, you will be given a credit for a future recreation activity. 9. Activities may be cancelled or changed due to weather conditions. Please dress ap-propriately for activity and weather. Sunscreen and insect repellent are available or bring your own product if you have specific needs or requirements. 10. No participant is to be dropped off or left at an activity without a Recreation staff member being present. 11. Pick up at the end of an event must be prompt. Please cooperate with this request.

Location: Meet at: Center Stage Dance Studio, 881 Main St., Waltham, MA
Details: I LOVE DANCE is the place to be. Lose yourself in the music and find yourself in shape at the original dance-fitness party hosted by professional dance instructor Annie Close in her private studio. I LOVE DANCE
classes feature the newest moves set to popular party music.
Minimum: 5 people Maximum: 8 people

Details: Watch City Self Advocates is back in-person! Learn how to speak up for yourself and others, enjoy guest speakers, volunteer for a favorite cause, meet community members and have some fun while you are doing good for yourself and others! No registration necessary for meeting but please call John Freiberg in advance and bring your dues the day of the meeting.

Details: Join us for a trip to Gillette Stadium to see the Magic of Lights! Experience a Christmas light show from the safety and comfort of our van as we wind through the sparkling path. At every turn, the magical route is overflowing with spectacular light displays that bring to life your favorite holiday scenes and characters of the season using the latest LED technology and digital animations.

Details: Join us for a night of experiencing the timeless magic that only The Movies can provide. We will vote on a selection of movies, and decide what to watch together! Snacks will be served along with drinks.

Muppet Christmas Carol
Cost: $25 Opportunities for Inclusion Participants/$30 General Community. Includes chaperones, transportations, tickets, and snacks.
Dates: Saturday, December 18
Time: Drop off: 9:30 A.M. Pick Up: 12:45 P.M.
Location: Drop off & Pick up: 56 Chestnut Street, Waltham Details: Join us for a trip to the historic Coolidge Corner Theater! See the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge on the big screen! 'Tis the season for love, laughter, and one of the most cherished stories of all time! Join Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and all the hilarious Muppets in this merry, magical version of Charles Dickens' classic tale. Due to the popularity of this trip, please RSVP by phone or email before sending in your registration! Vaccine card (or copy/photo) required for theater entrance!

Christmas Tree Decorating
Cost: $40 Opportunities for Inclusion Participants/$50 General Community. Includes chaperones, artificial tree, decorations, and snacks.

Details: Join us for a holiday party, and leave with your own Christmas tree! You’ll get a 3 foot artificial Christmas tree, and ornaments to decorate it! You can also bring your own favorite ornaments for your tree. We’ll also enjoy holiday snacks, listen to holiday music, and watch holiday classics!

Cost: $35 Opportunities for Inclusion Participants/$45 General Community. Includes pizza, drink, video games, arcade and chaperones.

Details: Game Underground features new and old favorite arcade games plus skee ball and air hockey. We will also have our own choice of video games to play against our friends on 50” flat screens. Choices include; Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart as well as many more that you can request. Due to the popularity of this trip, please RSVP by phone or email before sending in your registration! Details: Join us for a night of creativity, as we work together on an art project with CC King! All needed materials will be provided.

Location: Drop off & Pick up: 56 Chestnut Street, Waltham Details: Put your inhibitions away and spend a night in the limelight singing and dancing to songs you choose. Dress as the next American Idol, or come as you are. Sing solo or have friends accompany you. This will be a fun filled no pressure environment for all. We’ll have pizza, drinks and snacks as we turn Chestnut Street into Center Stage. Minimum: 5 people Maximum: 14 people

Van Gogh Exhibit

Details: Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is a 20,000 square foot light and sound spectacular featuring two-story projections of the artist’s most compelling works. Encounter the brilliance of one of history’s greatest artists in 360 degrees.

Brandeis Judges Basketball Cost: $30 Opportunities for Inclusion Participants/$35 General Community. Includes admission, snack, chaperones and transportation.
