TABLE OF CONTENTS

“All inclusive”Remember, a Sunrise Tour is an inclusive product. All activities, tickets, taxes and two meals per day (included meals are indicated in the daily itinerary; b=breakfast, l=lunch, d=dinner) are included so that your only expenses on the road will be lunch, souvenirs and a gratuity for your tour manager and driver if you so desire. On a few tours, 2 meals a day may not be included, and will be indicated as such.

Recently I took a group to northern Indiana for a tour called “A Quilter and Gardeners Delight”. I am never much of a shopper while traveling, but this

quilted wall hanging “Sunrise”, an orginal design by Shir-ley Shenk, could not be resisted! It now hangs on our fam-ily room wall and I love every stitch. I am in the process of planning another quilt themed tour and saving my pennies! If a quilt tour appeals to you too, please let me know.

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” St. Augustine

Sunrise Tours is celebrating its 15th year in busi-ness in 2009. We have had a lot of travelers “read” the world the past 14 years with Sunrise Tours and we encourage everyone to keep read-ing and turning those pages with us! Following are 15 tidbits about upcoming trips (with their page numbers of course). 1. Every year “Dr. Beach” Stephen Leatherman, director of Florida International University’s Laboratory for Coastal Research, selects the ten best beaches in America. In 2008 Coopers Beach and Main Beach in the Hamptons, NY (p. 13) and Cape Hatteras Beach on the Outer Banks, NC (p. 10) and one of the beaches we will be seeing on the Florida Stay and Play trip in February made the top ten. 2. Since 1994 we have taken 80 trips to Branson (p. 40) and 50 to New York City(p. 13, 34).3. You can walk on the new Esplanade Riel pe-destrian bridge over the Red River when visiting Winnipeg, Manitoba for the Folklorama (p. 25). This side-spar cable-stayed bridge connects the historical English and French quarters of this Ca-nadian city known for its many cultures.4. I would never suggest that staying in elegant hotels is the main reason to take a trip, but the historic and elegant Fairmont hotels on the Crème de la Crème (p. 9), Grand Hotel on Grand Michigan (p. 18), Hershey Lodge (p. 41) and the Homestead and Greenbriar resorts on Holiday “Grandeer” (p. 43) do help to make these trips exceptional.5. Get hysterical, no I mean historical, and fol-low the Lewis & Clark Trail (p. 12) or the West-ern Front of the Civil War (p. 39). 6. Have you seen the renovations of the historic French Lick Resort and West Baden Springs Ho-tel yet? The West Baden Springs Hotel is archi-tecturally incredible. (p. 11)7. Do you love a good parade? We have taken many travelers to see the Rose and Macy’s Day Parades and now we offer the Portland Rose Fes-tival Parade. (14) Like a rose, this trip to Oregon has many petals of beauty!8. Cardinal fans check out our trips to Florida during Spring Training (p. 6), and to Cleveland,

(p. 16)Milwaukee and Chicago (p. 22), and New York (p. 23) during the regular season.9. It’s fun to get off the beaten path and explore parts of our country that are often overlooked by most tours. We add new experiences for our tried and true tours but also like to offer trips on an oc-casional basis that explore a particular area. Our trips to Idaho (p. 19), The Adiron-dacks (p. 26), New Hamp-shire and Massachusetts (p. 37) and the Arkansas Ozarks (p. 38) travel scenic back roads in beautiful areas of these states. The Maine At-traction (p. 27) trip includes the addition of Acadia Na-tional Park and Bar Harbor this year we visit during blueberry season.10. We are going to see a real lumberjack show on the Apostle Island trip (p. 23)!11. Would you be interested in visiting seven different countries but only unpacking your bags once? Take a look at the Transatlantic cruise (p. 31) that Jim and I will be taking.12. Have you spent at least one night in every state of the mainland of USA? Two small states that are often missed are Rhode Island and Dela-ware. You can cross Rhode Island off your list if you take the Cape Cod trip (p. 28) this year and next year we will offer a trip that stays in Delaware!13. Our National Parks are world class – in fact we are the first country to have national parks! You see three or more national parks on both the California National Park (p. 32) and Canyon-lands of Southern Utah (p. 33) tours.14. We offered Southwest Grand Adventure (p. 35) for the first time in 2007 and it sold out quickly. If this is a trip you want to take, don’t wait too long to sign up.15. Snuggled under a blanket on a sleigh ride sounds great. Think snow and take Europe in Wisconsin (p. 42) for a delightful holiday trip.

1. I have often read that the best time to invest in stocks is when all the headlines are negative. If you can believe that, this would be an excellent time to invest.2. If you and your spouse are both age 70, there is a 91% probability that one or both of you will live to be 80. That is a positive; take a trip to celebrate!3. This year we cel-ebrate our 15th an-niversary in the business of travel. For many reasons, we have concluded that trip insurance is a very good idea for almost everyone. We have had some very positive circumstances with people who have purchased insurance.4. In an earlier edition of “From the Back of the Bus”, I told you that Luis Perdomo was a pitcher the Cardinals received for Anthony Reyes. The Giants took Perdomo in the Rule 5 draft because the Cardinals did not protect him on the 40- man roster. The positive news is that they will likely get him back because he is not ready for the ma-jors. Note: If you are not familiar with the Rule 5 draft and how it works, give me a call and we can discuss.5. I am writing this on a day when the tempera-ture is 15 degrees and the temperature was 55 degrees yesterday. The positive news is we have trips to Florida in February and Spring Training in March that will take us away from these cold temperatures.6. We have come to the end of 2008 and have not imposed any fuel surcharges to date and I hope you view that as a positive. The other positive is that we hope to avoid surcharges, even with vol-atile diesel fuel prices, until they have coaches that you can plug in at the hotel overnight.7. We have two travelers who met during one of their trips with Sunrise Tours and are now plan-ning to marry in 2009. It is not necessarily a

marriage made in heaven, but rather one made in the back of the bus. In any event, it is a very

positive thing and we wish John Phel-an and Vicki Dewitt much happiness.8. Charlie and I are looking forward to traveling with you in 2009 and celebrating our 15th anniversary because I have not seen a trip I did not like. The positive to this is that I am not telling you what

trips we are taking in the event you do not look forward to traveling with me.9. Please look in all corners of this brochure for little “chestnuts” that will help us celebrate in 2009 and are truly “positive” for you.10. 2008 made lasting memories for a lot of rea-sons. Let us make a lot of positive memories in 2009 through our travels together. Travel makes memories!11. These economic times may be a positive stimulus for you to travel more with your grand-children.12. One question I have been asked a number of times in the last 15 years was why we do not provide nametags on trips. I am reminded of what I heard almost 20 years ago. The worst thing about being a tourist is having other tour-ists recognize you as a tourist.13. We left Arizona last year and live in St. Louis City in an urban environment now. We have not seen a snake in our yard since we moved.14. I indicated earlier that many of the headlines today are negative. I believe, however, that it is less important what the headline is, and more important how we respond personally to that headline. If I stay positive for 2009, positive things will happen. I remain positive and I hope you do also.15. Have a great year and see you on the road or in Schnuck’s!

Tips for the driver, tour managers, and step-on guides are left to the discretion of the traveler and should be in accordance with services received.Trip InsuranceFor 2 main reasons we highly recommend the purchase of trip insurance and can pro-vide information on Berkley Insurance: 1) Trip interruption – There are circumstanc-es that can prevent passengers from fully participating in a tour and may require an early departure or extended stay. For ex-

ample, if a passenger suffers an injury that prevents the traveler from continuing on the tour, insurance will cover the cost of the extended stay, the cost of transportation home and the value of the missed tour (sub-ject to claim submission and acceptance by Berkley Insurance). If you do not have insurance, you will personally incur these costs and it can be very expensive. 2) Trip cancellation - If you are forced to cancel a tour for medical reasons (for you or an im-mediate family member), having insurance ensures a complete refund of monies paid (except for the cost of insurance). Sunrise cannot guarantee this because there are times when monies are paid on your behalf prior to departure.Pick-up points For each trip, we determine the pick-up points based on point requests. We have pick-up points to service the north, west, south and central areas of St. Louis met-ropolitan area and St. Charles and Illinois . All pick-up points allow parking for your vehicle. Sunrise’ pick up point partners of-fer the use of parking spaces during tour as a courtesy to Sunrise travelers. Neither Sunrise Tours nor parking lot owners as-sume responsibility for incidents occurring to parked cars. If a pick-up point is not convenient, we will make arrangements for you to get to one of the pick-up points. You will be notified of which pick-ups we are using for your tour in a letter about 2 weeks prior to departure. If you would like to stay overnight before leaving on the tour, we can provide a hotel room at some of our pick-ups for a reduced rate. If our routing allows, we may pick up along the way in outlying areas. Some of our tours offer a pickup in Washington, MO. Please call for a list of those tours.IdentificationFor international flights, a passport is re-quired. For any international land bor-der crossing, a passport is required as of 6/1/2009. Photo ID’s are required on all fly tours and recommended on all tours.Singles Requesting RoommatesIf you would like to go on tour with us, but do not have a roommate for a specific trip, let us know and we will match you with someone else (same sex of course). Just let us know at least 60 days before departure and we will room you with another traveler at the double rate. If there is no roommate

available on the tour you request, you will still only have to pay the price of a double. If you decline the roommate assigned, you will be responsible for the single supple-ment. Of course, if you prefer to travel individually, you can still sign up for the single fare. This offer is not valid on cruis-es, and some select tours.Method of PaymentsFor deposits we accept checks or cash. For final payment we accept Visa, Mastercard, check or cash.Seating on the MotorcoachSeating is assigned and will be rotated on a daily basis. Special seating requests are honored on the basis of availability. Pay-ing the single fare does NOT ensure you will have a seat to yourself on the coach, it only ensures you a room by yourself.ResponsibilitySunrise Tours is not responsible for any in-jury, delay, loss or accident due to any act or negligence on the part of any person or company rendering services on any of our tours. We reserve the right to change any itinerary. In 2009, we are offer-ing our “Lewis and

Clark” tour (p. 12)for the first time in 3 years. Of course, St. Louis was the starting point for the epic Lewis and Clark expedition, and we are proud to count travelers from 22 dif-ferent states as happy customers on previous departures of this tour. If you are interested in American History, or if

you would just like know what makes St. Louis the origi-nal “Gateway to the West”, don’t miss this truly once in a lifetime adventure.

St. Louis is hot and humid in July and August; a perfect time to head north or to the mountains! Our Colorado Trains and More (p. 21) takes us straight

to the Rockies and fresh, cool mountain air. Enjoy spec-tacular scenery, four train rides and lungs refreshed from mountain breezes! Or, head north to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Winnipeg, Manitoba (p. 25) for cooler climes and great entertainment. The Folklorama will ex-pand your horizons as over 3,000 performers exhibit their cultural heritage.
