ALPHA PHI OMEGA, local fraternity for engineering stu-dents, is the home ground of the men with beards and campuspolitical ambitions. Founded in the spring of 1919,it is the old-est organization of any kind at Mines and has been activecontinuously since its founding. Although the primary purposeof the group is to bring closer contact for its members with theengineering world, it takes time out for the lighter side of lifewith such antics as parading new pledges through El Pasodressed in bear skins, togas, and women's clothes. The APO'sare always leaders in St. Pat's Day activities and the Engin-eering party.
