Early kings raided African neighbors, bringing back riches including gold. Farmers where

summoned to go to war. During the new kingdom, Egypt made its empire bigger. Archers fired

a group of arrows from the shore to stop the ships of the attackers from landing. The lion-

headed goddess Sekhmet was the goddess of aggression. When the Egyptians went to war, they

thought that Sekhmet, and other gods and goddesses, battled with them. Officers are in charge

of groups of 50 soldiers. The one’s carrying spears, shields, and battle axes are given orders by a

trumpet. Elite one’s rode to battle in light horse-drawn chariots driven by a driver and a fighter,

the chariot has a short shield, spear, and bow in it. Fearful that death would lead to a bad

afterlife Egyptians often hired mercenaries to fight their battles. Next you will learn about the

types of armor the Egyptians wore!

What types of armor did they wear? Do you ever wonder about the

ancient Egypt armor? What types of armor they wore? If they even had armor at all? Then

check out this paragraph!

In battle an Egyptian was sometimes riding a chariot. Some of their body would be protected

from the chariot. They rarely wore protection except for their shields and helmets. Soldiers also

wore armor. They were protected by large shields made of wood rather than heavy armor.

Some Egyptian soldiers had leather shields. The king wore some armor too. He/she wore armor

made from leather scales. He also wore sandals on his feet. Archers wore armor as well. They

would sometimes pull back their bow strings into a triangular shape, pulling the string back to

their ears. An archer wore a wrist protector on his left wrist to protect himself from the pain of

the bow string when shooting an arrow. The tone-shaped area of the wrist protector goes from

the wrist into the palm. The bone guard protected the finger from pain made by the string on

the bow (made of animal gut) as he drew his bow. After this you will learn about what types of

materials they used to make many things.

What types of materials were there? Do you wonder what materials

were in ancient Egypt? Do you ever wonder what ancient Egyptians used to make their things?

Well look here!

A few materials are silver, gold, ivory/white, ebony/black, and every type of stone. The

Egyptians made at least part of the copper they needed. They used iron so many times that it

broke. They used all the tin to make bronze. Stone was more expensive than it. There was

bronze in the middle kingdom and iron in the new kingdom. The first arrow tips were made of

flint. The horseshoe shaped ones were made to hurt. The triangle shaped ones were made to

kill the enemy right away. Gold flies were given to a soldier who had done well in combat.

Finally you will learn about the cool ancient Egyptian weapons!
