Who was aboard the Titanic?
The passengers on the Titanic varied differently in social status and wealth
The Hart family were second class passengers emigrating to Canada. Eva (centre) was 7 years old in 1912
Molly Brown was a wealthy American who was notorious for her outspoken and challenging
personality
She became known as the “unsinkable” due to the bravery she showed on board the Titanic
and attending to survivors on the Carpethian
The Countess of Rothes was another woman who showed exceptional
bravery by rowing and guiding her lifeboat
She took charge of Lifeboat 6 and helped the women on board to reach
the rescue ship Carpathian
Colonel John Jacob Astor was the
wealthiest passenger on board. He had an estimated fortune of $87 million dollars

Isidor and Ida Straus
Isidor Straus was the founder of the world
famous New York department store Macys
Isidor was offered a place on a lifeboat because of his age but he turned it down claiming “he had
lived his life”
Ida refused to leave her husband stating “I will not be separated from
my husband. As we have lived, so we will die
together.”
People on the Titanic can be remembered through
photographs
Those on board would also have been
remembered by the ship’s log (record of
passengers)
Unlike famous people on the Titanic there were hundreds of ordinary
people who would only be remembered by their
families The Goodwin Family were
emigrating to AmericaThey reached the deck
too late to reach a lifeboat
She was only 9 weeks old when she
was on board the ship with her family
She passed away on the 31st May 2009 aged 97 years old
Millvina Dean was the oldest living survivor of
the Titanic disaster
