Usually one waits until the last edition of the year to do a retrospect, but in our case, August marks one year since we began conducting our Skype crusades in Pakistan. With the exception of the month we missed due to being rained out, we held a crusade each month, our image being projected onto a screen make from a bed sheet or whatever was available while we shared the gospel.

Each time, the experience is the same. When the connection is made, there is a moment when I see the crowd and they see me. Sometimes there is a moment of awkward silence while I wait for the go-ahead from the interpreter. Sometimes, when there is a little longer delay due to some last minute adjustments, either someone in the crowd or myself will wave a

friendly “hello.” Suddenly, smiles break out as people half a world away express their welcome to one another. I’m pretty tech savvy, but I have to say that the exchange fills me with wonder each and every time. It’s early morning for me and late

evening for them, but there we are, communicating over what often proves to be a less-than-perfect internet connection. Still, the message goes out and souls are saved,

bodies are healed, and lives are changed.

Now, with the addition of our television broadcast airing in several nations in the far east, God is extending our reach. While we are looking forward to seeing where it will all go, we wanted to pause - just for a moment - to celebrate where God has brought us thus far. Truly, He has been good to us!

I certainly cannot claim to have come up with the idea. It was presented to us by our friends who live there. Would we be willing to do a livestream crusade via Skype for villages in Pakistan? I have to admit, I was doubtful that we could pull it off.

The few times we had Skyped just to talk had presented us with poor internet connection challenges, and the success or failure of the venture would be dependent upon a good connection.

Besides this, the time difference presented a challenge. We’re separated by 12 hours (or less, depending on whether we’re in daylight saving’s time or not). My 8:00 am is their 8:00 pm, and I have roused myself out of bed even earlier before to speak to the ministry leadership. Could it work? Well, we now have twelve months behind us that testify to the fact that it can be done, even if there are a few bugs to work out!

That first meeting in September 2018, saw 237 souls come to Christ. Many were also healed including a person who was healed of a tumor as well as nine people who repented of practicing black magic. I had no idea the practice of black magic existed in the rural parts of Pakistan, which is a predominantly Muslim nation, and yet it is one of the most consistent testimonies we hear. Individuals and even entire families are turning from darkness to the light of Christ.

In every crusade, souls are saved and many are healed. At the end of twelve months (eleven meetings due to the one rained out), we have seen 1,319 come to Christ. In all my years of ministry combined, I haven’t seen that many come to Christ

before our Skype crusades began. Certainly, it’s possible there have been that many saved through our initial television broadcasts in India back in the mid-2000s, but if so, we had no numbers to verify it. However, each month we get the report back from those who are there, working to see that the harvest is not lost and the new believers are discipled.

One area where we’ve only been able to help limitedly is in providing Bibles for the new

believers. Since our own funds are so limited, we are dependent upon those who give to the ministry to provide the funds necessary to assist with the purchase of Bibles.

Certainly, this is one of the greatest needs still unfulfilled, at least as far as our contribution is concerned. Nevertheless, we have been able to help limitedly in times past, and we hope to be able to do more in the future.

Our friends there in are doing the real work of following up with the new believers and seeing to it that they get plugged in to a church and continue to grow in their newfound faith.

In the mid-2000s I began broadcasting a weekly television show into Tamil Nadu, India’s southern-most province. The testimonies from that season of ministry still stand as a high watermark of our healing ministry. We published a number of those testimonies in our book, The Gospel’s Saving Power. It was like a chapter out of the book of Acts. People scheduled for amputations were healed. Barren wombs gave birth after a decade of barrenness, and many of those who were healed were Hindu - some even having visions as they were healed. One family took a TV to the hospital where their young daughter was suffering from a terrible brain fever and played our program so they could all pray with me at the end of the message. Not only was the girl healed when they prayed, but two patience in adjacent rooms were also healed. We even had a woman healed from an issue of blood as she heard me preach about the woman with the same condition from Mark’s gospel. I carry those testimonies with me still in a

special leather pouch. They are still so precious to me.

Not long ago, I spoke to Vijay, the son of one of the two founding brothers who ran the ministry we worked with. The family has been very close to us all these years. I asked him if they were still broadcasting. When he told me that they had a channel that went into over a million homes in India, I was interested to say the least. I asked the price per program. It amounted to less than $40 per show. That’s all I needed to hear.

We shared the vision with our church members and friends and began broadcasting right away. Not long after we began, Vijay told me that they were forming partnerships with other networks that would take our program into places like Malaysia, Bangladesh, Singapore, and even parts of Australia! They were able to keep the costs reasonable and our program began airing to a wider audience.

Recently, we received a few testimonies that demonstrate the power of the gospel to save, heal, and deliver! Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” We have always believed in the power of the Word to bring healing and salvation. The following testimonies bear witness to that! We have slightly corrected grammar and punctuation. Otherwise, these are the testimonies as received.

“After Watching your message on the TV, you ministered me through God’s word. I had two surgeries to remove two glands. After that surgery in 2015, I had problem after problem with swallowing, not able to eat and no hope. The worst thing was I was not even reading books to my children. It was so painful. Doctors said there was no cure, and they would have to do one more surgery (to) help me to read. I was in constant pain. I immediately needed a supernatural miracle. Jehovah Rapha, He has already healed me by His blood. Not just sin has gone but all our disease. I was confessing that the whole day. I was healed that next night, you pronounced a supernatural miracle in my throat. Since that night, I am back reading books and sharing with others how I had been healed. Thank you for sharing (the) powerful message that led to me receiving a great healing as well. God bless you and may He continue to use you to reach many.” Girija - Chennai

“I had been having pain for 5 years due to an accident where an auto rickshaw hit me when I was walking, and I couldn’t work for close to a year. I was watching your program on the TV. I had heavy pain in my hip and left leg. Your message gave me confidence, I prayed for healing in faith. I got tears running in my eyes because of pain, but still I don’t want to give up. Pain increased, did not decrease, but my confidence increased. I remembered your words in the message about healing. I started

confessing and praying “Lord, I believe I have been healed by your blood!” The next day my pain started to decrease. Within (a) few hours I received complete healing. I am having no pain since. I am able to walk again. God can heal any pain. I myself (am) a testimony.” Vaajish - Palani

“I have experienced a miraculous healing after I watched your message. I have struggled with Knee Joint pain almost 6 months. I knew God can heal, but my faith did not kick start to receive a complete healing. I’ve been praying for many days but had a small doubt. But your words were talking straight to me and for me. The cross has dealt with my pain. No matter who I am, He has cured me. Now, I had full faith to start the process of healing. I did not want to struggle (to) get the healing but fully believe that I am already healed. I almost prayed with joy, happiness, and with confidence for 3 days. The power of (the) cross has healed me now. I am able to walk, stand for long time, and do whatever I want. I have not gone outside the house till now. Another 3 weeks (and) I’ll be walking on the road. Great God! May your words spread the healing throughout the world. God bless you.” Knox - Trichy

These testimonies thrill my heart because they so remind me of the ones we received over a decade ago when we began our first broadcast in India. We are eager to also hear from the other nations into which our program airs. Please continue to agree with us for a great harvest of souls!

The world is a big place. Jesus sent His Church into the all world to reach all people groups everywhere. We are to invade every part of our world, culture, and society to bring the light of the gospel to those in darkness. It’s no small task, and when looking at a map of the world, one may well wonder, “Where do I start?” I believe the answer to that question is, “From right where you are.”

For one thing, your timing and placement in this world are not by chance. The scriptures are clear that God had a hand in when and where you were born. “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings (Acts 17:26). God was strategic in placing us when and where He did; first, that we might find Him and, second, that we might lead those around us to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Before He ascended on high, Jesus commissioned the disciples to be witnesses on His behalf. Some

of those men would ultimately go to the uttermost boundaries of the known world of that time, but He told them all to start right where they were: Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and then the uttermost regions of the world (Acts 1:8). Likewise, among us there will be those sent to foreign fields to reach the lost that live there, but the lost are not just in foreign lands. Someone must reach the people of our own towns and cities, our own streets and neighborhoods. For some of us, home is our mission field.

For years, missionaries have realized that the best way to reach a nation was to win the indigenous people to Christ, disciple them, and make them missionaries to their own people. They do not have the cultural or linguistic barriers to overcome. They are, simply, at home with their own people. This is not only true from nation to nation, but from region to region within a single nation. Even in America, for all our similarities, the cultural nuances from state to state, and even town to town, can be

Where God’s Answers Meet Man’s Questions

striking. I can take you from Burlington, Vermont to Boston, Massachusetts in three and a half hours, and yet the accents, mannerisms, customs, and allegiances of the people you will meet on that short trip will be vastly different from one place to the next.

The context into which we were born was intentional and chosen by God rather than ourselves. Likewise, our journey through life must be a guided tour. God has a purpose in our placement, and there may be those whom we are called to reach in the place we’re presently planted that no one else has a better chance to reach. In my case, my journeys have taken me all over the nation, and even around the world, only to

bring me back in the town of my birth. Often, God may take us elsewhere for a season only to bring us back to where we started, that we might be

better equipped to reach our own world for Him. 

Wherever you are, be a witness for Him. Your collective experience, vernacular, values, and interests make you uniquely suited to reach your world. When Jesus said the fields were white unto harvest (John 4:35), He didn’t just mean the fields half a world away. God may use you in places far from home, but if not, realize it’s because there are people for whom Christ died

right there in your own backyard who need the unique and particular witness that you can be.

Joining Hands To Reach the Nations

September has always been a very special month for me. In addition to being my birth month, it is the beginning of the fall, my favorite season of the year. Nearly every ministry endeavor I have launched or began in my 30 plus years of service to God has begun in the fall.

It was just last September that we began the Skype crusades in Pakistan. A year later, we have seen 1,319 saved as well as many healed and delivered. We celebrate each life changed and heart made new. Our broadcast, Connecting Point TV, is covering parts of India and the Asian Pacific nations with the good news, and testimonies have already begun to let us know that lives are being changed there as well. In addition to our magazine

which we produce each quarter, we are now beginning to publish books as fast as we can. We can do this for next to NO money down, and we are excited for the two new books just released!

Now, we are asking for our partners and friends to help us. As I turn 55 this September, I am asking for 100 of our friends to give a one time gift of $55 to help us for the remainder of our calendar year. This money will go to paying off some overhead expenses so more of our general fund can go to projects in the nations instead of paying bills. It will also go to purchasing Bibles for new believers in nations like Pakistan and help us pay for air time. Of course, as always, 100 percent of designated funds go where they are assigned.

One of our greatest needs is for me to be full-time, as nearly everything we do is very time intensive. Our television show takes a full day to produce between shooting and editing, and producing our printed and digital publications also involve many hours of work. In addition to this, I also speak three times a week, at least, and sometimes more as opportunities present themselves. Very recently, a new offer has presented itself that would add many millions of viewers to our television program across the country and around the world. The price is right, but even at such a great bargain, we need the finances before we can act.

We have more invitations than we can count to preach in places like Pakistan, India, Kenya, Uganda, Bangladesh, Nepal, and many others. While we cannot accept most of these now, we are looking to go to India and possibly Pakistan in the near future. Just this evening, our friends who help us with the broadcast in India once again extended an invitation for us to minister in places where the needs are great. We hope to go in the next calendar year.

For everyone who gives $55 during our September Fundraiser, we will give a coy of our newest book, The Good, The Beautiful, and the True. This is our second volume of devotional essays, and we are so excited to get it into people’s hands. While we call it a devotional, this is not a Chicken Soup For the Soul kind of devotional. Yes, we have a lot of humor in many of the essays, and some which will warm your heart, but much of the content is a call for the Church in the West to recognize the times

we are in and to hold tenaciously to the standard of biblical truth that our society is trying to abandon. We believe it will both challenge and inspire you. As always, all donations are tax-deductible and all are greatly appreciated!

In addition to those who can give a one-time gift of $55, we are believing God to raise up monthly partners who will join our 200/20 Partnership Program — two-hundred people giving $20 a month to provide consistent support to the ministry. We are beginning our eight-week Healing School in our church on Wednesday, September 18, at 6 pm. Our facility is located at 409 Center Street in Taft. It will run for eight weeks. We hope to begin holding Healing Schools in various churches and venues as God opens the door. I believe this would be in keeping with

the mandate God gave us all those years ago regarding the healing ministry. These would most likely take the form of Saturday seminars where we teach in the morning, followed by a time of ministry to the sick. We’ll keep you posted as to when and where these are being held.

This book is not your typical devotional. If you dare to do something great for God, there will be times of discouragement. Jesus assured us that “in the world” we would face times of testing. That is because the “god of this world,” the devil (2 Corinthians 4:4), does not want us to succeed in our mission.

Each of us are uniquely designed and gifted by God to do something great for Him (Ephesians 2:10). We are called to live a life of significance, which means a life of service. We are called to change our world for good and for God. Everywhere we go, the Kingdom of God is proclaimed and demonstrated through our obedience to the vision He has give us.

That is great and wonderful, but at some point, you are going to have the opportunity to quit. Challenges will come when it seems like money won’t. Friends will become armchair quarterbacks to tell you where you could be doing better. Frustration will set in, and there will be times when you will definitely wonder whether you’re even getting anything accomplished. So, when

such challenges come, what can you say to yourself to find motivation to keep going? I’m sure many things would be good, and we have a Bible full of promises to claim regarding God’s abiding presence and help. But I want to remind you of one

more reason to keep going when you feel you’ve come to the end of your reserves. “Your dream is their deliverance. Your vision is their victory.”

The fact of that matter is that this was never about us to begin with. As one minster said so well, “When God anointed you, He had someone else on His mind.” We are privileged to serve God, but it’s those to whom we’re called that will experience a better life because we said “Yes” to God once again. Of course, God gets the glory, but we

should never underestimate the importance of faithfulness to the call of God. Our obedience today touches another’s life tomorrow. Only heaven will fully tell the tale of what our obedience on a difficult day did to change the life of someone we may have never even met. But God is watching, and God will reward. Keep going!
