In Sub-Saharan Africa over 32 million children of primary school age have no

access to schooling.

For those lucky enough to attend school, teaching quality is often poor because

of a lack of resources and limited teacher training.

Many children grow up without having acquired the basics, greatly impeding

their life chances.

Freeplay Encore radios were developed to help address these problems.

They are used to support distance education programs for teachers and

children and to enhance ‘in-school’ teaching in low resource settings.

The radios are a low-cost way to provide education. Pre-recorded lessons and classes can be held in any location making them perfect to run even in unstable areas

The Encore Player

The Encore Player is a multi-band radio and media Player.

Lessons can be pre-recorded onto an SD card and played

back to classes.

Listeners can play, pause, forward, rewind as needed.
