21 July 2014 – 28 June 2015A Call to RememberHow do we remember and how should we commemorate? From personal acts such as putting flowers on a grave or a photo on the wall to public memorials like village cenotaphs and Church services, the act of remembrance is something that touches us all.

In preparation for a larger exhibition in 2016 focusing on an unique memorial to quarrymen from Dyffryn Nantlle who lost their lives in the Great War, the National Slate Museum would like you to share your memories and thoughts on how and why we should remember. Look out for details of

See a slate being split, find out what wood had to do with the story of slate, get up close and personal with UNA, our Quarry engine, and find out just what makes a perfect pattern in our behind-the-scenes talk with the curator! Have a go at the Easter trail through the museum workshops. Find all the eggs to win a prize!

Mon 28 July – Fri 29 August, 1pm – 4pm Summer of Slate!

Join us for a range of ‘slate-tastic’ activities this summer. Decorate a slate, colour your own geological timescale, get creative with the Museum’s Art Cart, try your hand at making perfect patterns in the foundry sandpit or get all dressed up in the quarrymen’s houses. Something for everyone!
