There are opportunities in technical careers like:• Line electrician• Gas utility worker • Power plant operator
Line Technician
Duties: Install (and repair) cables, wires and other equipment you typically see on electrical poles and transmission towers.
Education: Technical college diploma in electrical power distribution (9 mths.)
Skills: A cooperative attitude, listen and understand customer needs
and how to meet them. Be able to be on your feet for a long time. Not mind heights or working outdoors.
Experience: Electrical, construction or maintenance experience
Starting pay: $21-$25 per hour
Gas Utility Worker
Duties: Install, maintain, and operate natural and propane gas distribution systems
used to supply customers
Education: Technical college diploma in gas utility construction and service (9 mths.)
and a driver’s license
Skills: Work by yourself, be patient and willing to stick it out when things go wrong. Get your Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Experience: Mechanics, excavation or construction experience is desired
Starting pay: $20-$24 per hour
Power Plant Maintenance Mechanic
Duties: Analyze, install, maintain and repair mechanical equipment.
Education: Technical college mechanical diploma (2 yrs.)
Skills: Operate various types of equipment including cranes, heavy equipment, and others related to mechanical repairs.
Experience: Three years of plant experience.
Starting pay: $20 – $26 per hour

Associate Accountant
Duties: Prepare and maintain financial documents. Apply accounting policy
and investigate issues found.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (4 yrs.)
Experience: 1+ year in basic accounting, 1+ year computer systems and applications
Starting pay: $18-$28 per hour
Associate Programmer Analyst
Duties: Analyze problems and create solutions for other areas of the company. Code and test applications, install software and provide technical support.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information
systems, computer engineering (4 yrs.)
Experience: 1+ years in computer application development
Starting pay: $17-$25 per hour
Associate Engineer
Duties: Provide support for field personnel by overseeing
construction, maintenance and operations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering(4 yrs.)
Experience: Internship/co-op experience, be able to use computers, process management
Starting pay: $22-$40 per hour
