Understanding Meters
• Duple Meters: 2/4, 2/2, 4/4, 8/8, 6/8, 12/8, 6/4
• Triple Meters: 3/4, 3/2, 3/4, 3/8, 9/8
• Odd Meters: 5/8, 5/4, 7/8, 7/4, 11/16, 13/8
• Simple Meters: beats grouped in 2s
• Compound Meters: beats grouped in 3s
• Odd meters: combination(s) of groupings of 2 and 3
Counting Compound Meters
Tuplet: any grouping not inherent in the meter
