Transcript of What media institution would distribute your media product?
INITIAL RESEARCH
After researching a number of companies that produce and distribute
magazines , including BBC, Bauer Music and Egmont, I chose Time Inc
UK. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Time Inc. and formally known as IPC
media).
INITIAL RESEARCH
Renowned company IPC media has been recently rebranded as Time Inc.
UK and is a wholly owned company owned by US based Time Inc. Time
Inc. UK is a magazine and digital publisher within the UK with a large
portfolio selling over 350 million copies a year. It produces a whole
range of magazines of all genres, including NME which is a popular
music magazine.
Other magazines and genres include:Popular music magazines NME and Uncut
Soap life a magazine discussing popular soap storylines, plot ideas and characters

WHY IPC MEDIA WOULD DISTRIBUTE
• IPC Media would be best suited to distribute my media product because
it has the experience of producing popular music magazines, such as
NME and Uncut, so would be best able to promote and sell BEAT and
make it a success in the publishing and music industry.
• Although they already sell music magazines, NME has no specific genre
but does tend to be more Rock and Pop and the music magazine. Uncut
is definitely Rock. My magazine has Indie music as the genre so would
broaden IPC’s target audience and build on their existing fan base
rather than taking the customers of current music magazines that they
produce.
• Although they have different primary target audience’s, NME also has a
large teen audience so BEAT would have buyers almost instantaneously
and by creating competition between the two magazines could boost
sales for Time Inc. UK and make both magazines the best that they
could be and provides variety for readers but staying within the same
publishing company who they know and trust as they are reliable and
have history producing good quality magazines.
• The magazines that they currently produce are also in a similar price
bracket to my proposed media product so will fit in with their current
audience.
