What is the purpose of this tutorial?

This tutorial was designed to assist you in adding Hocking College classes that you will complete for CA (credit by advanced standing) via Army eLearning modules. It is a series of actual screenshots that will take you literally step by step through the process.

Some basic terminology…

When the word “Course” or “Class” is referred to, it is referring to the title of the course at Hocking College. For example- BUS 200 Business Law or MICS 121 Microsoft Office.

When the word “Module” is referred to, it is referring to the individual units in Army eLearning that are required to equal your Hocking College “Course” or “Class”.

Some basic terminology…

For example, BUS 200 Business Law is one course/class at Hocking College, but there are 10 individual Army eLearning modulesrequired to complete it.

In other words, all 10 modules in Army eLearning must be completed in order to get credit for the course/class at Hocking College.

Highly Recommended…

It is highly recommended that you load ALL modules from your Hocking College Degree Plan for each course/class into your Army eLearning “My Plan” before starting any work in that course/class.

After doing so, verify that all required modules have been added to your plan, thus insuring that you will not leave any out and that you will be able to complete your work accurately.

What will I need to start?

When adding courses, you will need your Hocking College Degree Plan that was provided to you. Module codes are listed beside each required course in the right-hand column.

The next slide begins the tutorial. Each slide will have numbered information or instructions to follow on the right-hand side of the screen.

1. Reach this page by going to https://usarmy.skillport.com.

2. If this is your first visit and you are not familiar with the program, follow the procedures to “Register” for a new account and then view the “Getting Started Guide”.

3. Finally, if you have your Username and Password, enter them into the required fields and click “Sign On”.

1. This is your “Home” page. 2. Find the “Search for” box near the top of the page.3. Now, enter your first module code for your course.

In this tutorial, we are using the code for “Getting Started With Word 2007”, which is mo_bgwd_a01_dt_enus. Module codes are listed on your Hocking College Degree Plan.

1. As you can see, the module code for “Getting Started With Word 2007” has now been entered into the “Search for” box.

2. At this point, click the “SEARCH” button to initiate a search for this module.

1. This is the “SEARCH RESULTS” page.2. Beneath the section labeled “Courses”, you now see the module

“Getting Started With Word 2007”. To continue, click on this title.

1. This page gives you information about your module.

2. To continue, hover your mouse cursor above the folder icon with the green “+” sign. Click this button that says “Add to My Plan”.

1. On this pop-up screen, you have the option to schedule due dates and reminders about module completion. This step is optional.

2. To continue, simply click “OK” at the bottom of the page.

1. This page serves as confirmation that your module, in this case “Getting Started With Word 2007”, has been successfully added to your plan.

2. Now, click where it says “My Plan”.

1. This is your “My Plan” page. It lists all modules that you have added and must complete. This page is easily accessible by clicking “My Plan” from any page.

2. As you can see, “Getting Started With Word 2007” is now listed in your plan near the bottom of the page. To begin the module, you can simply click on “Launch”. You will be taken directly into your coursework. For other options, click on “Show Details”.

3. To add another module, find the “Search for” box at the top of any page, enter the next module code, and repeat the entire process.

That was easy!!!

You have now successfully added a module to your Army eLearning “My Plan”. To receive CA for the course, you must score at least 75% or above.

Don’t forget to add each required module to your plan for the Hocking College course/class you are wanting to complete before beginning your work.

Instructions on how to properly report your Army eLearning scores to Hocking College will be sent to you in a separate tutorial.

A Common Misconception…

The Hocking College Military Education Department is in no way affiliated with or has access to Army eLearning or your coursework there.

It is for this reason, we can not troubleshoot issues such as website problems, password resets, etc.

In addition, you must submit to us your module score reports for each Hocking College course/class that you complete in a timely manner so that we can issue your CA (credit by advanced standing).
