Interamerican Scout Foundation An investment in the youth of the Americas Thanks to your support, thousands of young people from Latin America and the Caribbean benefit from Scouting’s educational program and enjoy a better life. What is the Interamerican Scout Foundation? The ISF is a nonprofit corporation incorporated in Texas. It dates back to 1980 when it was established by the 12 th Interamerican Scout Conference in Santiago, Chile. On July 29, 1999, the United States Internal Revenue Service conferred upon the ISF the tax-exempt status of a public foundation. By permanently increasing its endowment fund, the ISF uses the dividends it generates to support the development of Scouting in Latin America and the Caribbean. The mission of Scouting in the Interamerica region is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Oath and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. This is achieved by: Involving them throughout their formative years in an informal educational process. Using a specific method that makes each individual the principal agent of his or her development as a self-reliant, supportive, responsible, and committed person. Assisting them to establish a value system based upon spiritual, social, and personal principles as expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. What is theInteramerican Scout Foundation? The ISF is a nonprofit corporation incorporated in Texas. It dates back to 1980 when it was established by the 12th Interamerican Scout Conference in Santiago, Chile.

This is achieved by:

Involving them throughout their formative years in an informal educational process.

Using a specific method that makes each individual the principal agent of his or her development as a self-reliant, supportive, responsible, and committed person.

Assisting them to establish a value system based upon spiritual, social, and personal principles as expressed in the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

How does the Interamerican Scout Foundation operate? The Interamerican Scout Foundation has no professional staff. Its trustees, who are appointed by the Interamerican Scout Committee (Scouting’s governing body in the region), are volunteers from all over the Americas who devote a substantial part of their time to fund-raising for the Scouting movement.

The International Committee of Boy Scouts of America supports the ISF by providing financial management and accounting services, including the receipt and processing of donations. All monies received by the foundation are handled through BSA bank accounts. The capital is invested on a permanent basis, and only the dividends it generates are used to fund annual projects.

How can you participate in this project to benefit

young people?By becoming a member of the Order of the

Condor, a program created to acknowledge and commend individuals who become donors to the

Interamerican Scout Foundation.

Donations can be made in a number of different ways, including a gradual schedule established

by the donor. The various alternatives confer access to different grades within the order, each

one of which has its own plaque of distinction.

The Order of the Condor meets at each Interamerican Scout Conference, during the annual general meetings of national Scout

organizations, or whenever a Scouting event of a certain magnitude takes place.

The foundation also accepts noncapital donations, which are channeled directly to

the Interamerican Scout Region together with the revenues from the capital fund.
