What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? The Editing SoftwareFrom the start and to the end of constructing the opening sequence, I feel like I have learnt a lot about the variety of technology I have used. The editing software that I used was Adobe Premiere CS5 to create the opening sequence. During the process of putting all the clips together I have learnt may techniques such as cutting and dragging certain areas of my clips to more it flow to a more successful standard. As well as this, I also learnt how change and cut the sound in each of the clips as most of them had unwanted noises coming from the crew in the background. I also learnt how to fade sounds so that when scenes that have different moods/atmosphere in it, I was able to create a smooth change to the sounds without making it too obvious for the audience to be distracted by.

The Editing SoftwareWhen the typography (credits) had to be included throughout the opening sequence, I learnt how to change the font size, the colour of the typography and the timing for the transition of the credits. The transitions for each clip was also another aspect that I was able to learn quickly during the editing process, even though it was very time consuming to edit each clip in the final product I was able to create a smooth transitional sequence and also to edit clips that had a completely different atmosphere to one another, which was a key factor within our sequence.

The Editing softwareFinally, another aspect of the editing software that I learnt how to do was the importing and exporting of the clips and the final product itself. When you had to import the clips to the software it was difficult for me to find the right clips as they were not in chronological order meaning it took a while to order each individual clips together.

The CameraWhen we were filming our opening sequence, we used the Nikon D3100. This camera allowed us to produce more professional and cinematic images. In the technical aspects of the camera, I learnt several controls that the camera offers such as, Aperture and Focus. This allowed us to film more focused shots on the couple as they walked through the forest and also the POV from the killer when he is about to kill the victim.

SD CardWhen we were filming our sequence, we used the 8GB Fujifilm SD for the required additional memory. By using an SD card it allowed us to have quicker access in converting the files to computer without any hassle. The SD card prevents risks from damaging your camera as it saves you from carrying your camera around to import the memory from it. The aspects I have learnt about using an SD camera is that the higher the class the quicker the speed for recording, as our SD card was only a class 6, the larger clips files took longer to convert which added more time to the editing process of the sequence.
