What have I learned about new technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Photoshop I used Photoshop to create both my front cover and

my contents page. This software I found especially frustrating because I could not get used to the different controls as I have not used Photoshop before. What I enjoyed about Photoshop was actually being able putting my drawn draft design to work. I found creating the colour scheme enjoyable and I enjoyed being able to rotate the boxes so the front cover could like how I wanted it to. What I learned from my time with Photoshop is how to crop out the background of an image. I liked learning about this because I feel that I will use it for my actual piece of coursework.

Blogger I used blogger to enter in a diary and to show the

work that I had done for the media work so far. I liked creating my diary because it meant that I could explain all of my different decision making. However, what I did find hard was trying to embed things into blogger as I needed help from other people and felt it was more complicated than it should have been which I did not like. What I learned while using blogger was how to embed things from different software onto it.

Prezi I used Prezi to show off the

different locations I was considering using for my front cover of my magazine. I used Prezi to explain why I choose the locations and kind of shots I was considering using for them. I liked being able to change the size of the text boxes so that I looked stylish and so that it looked. I found Prezi to be a very useful and exciting new piece of software which I have no complaints with.

Scribd I used scribd so that the teacher could view my risk

assessments on blogger. What I like about scribd is that as soon as someone explained to me how it worked I find it easy to use. What I didn’t like about scribd was how it was organised and how it does not describe what to do so that you are able to embed the file. What I learned while using scribd was how to embed different software onto another which I will be using in the future.

Dafont I used dafont to create the

masthead for both my front cover as well as my contents page. What I like about dafont is the variety of different fonts that are on display to choose from. I enjoyed deciding what font to use because there are many that I had considered using. What I didn’t like about dafont was having to print screen it onto my front cover. I didn’t like this because I found adjusting to the Photoshop software difficult and therefore found it hard to cut out the background and not stretching the image. However, despite not like doing it this is something I learned which can be used for my media projects in the future.

Word I used word to make my risk assessment for my blogger. I enjoyed

using word because I am used to using the software regularly. What I like about word is that it is simple to use and can be used for several different things(creating graphs, making tables etc.). What I dislike about word is that it is very simple to lose files as it does not auto-save. However, because I have used word so much throughout my life this means that I dint learn anything new which I could have used to help with my next project.

PowerPoint I used PowerPoint to show what I have learned about

all of the different technologies I have used for this project. What I like about PowerPoint is how you can make it professional and how you can add different things into your presentation such as audio, film and transitions. However, because of how much I like PowerPoint and have used it over the years it means that I have become accustomed with it. This means that I have nothing to dislike about PowerPoint nor anything new to learn about it.

Camera I used a camera to take my images for

my front cover as well as my contents page while I used jacs camera on his phone to create the location shots. What I like about using the camera is being to use different camera angles and adjusting how you compose the shot with the sunlight and the shade to create an effect on the image as well as the viewer. What I learned when using the camera is how to position it properly so that you are able to create an effective shot. I also like going around the school to different locations as well as being able to use a mixture of different camera angles. What I disliked about using the camera is that the camera was big and bulky and was heavy to carry around.

Emaze I used emaze to show the contrast in my front cover

and contents page to another student front cover and contents page. What I liked about Emaze was that you were able to label different parts of an image clearly so that could see the differences between my and somebody else front covers as well as my contents page. What I disliked about Emaze was the length of the page seen it is hard to make space on it so that it is clear what I am labelling. What I learned while using emaze was how to share a presentation onto my blogger.

Pc I used a pc to create all of my work for this

project. What I like about using a pc is that it is easier to use than a mac and it is easy to get used to most of the new software I was using for this project. What I dislike about using the pc was the lack of editing/filmmaking software which I wanted to use to show off the different technologies I used during this project. What I learned while I was on the pc was how to use all of the different software that has been provided for us to use.
