What’s Good To Do Newsletter
Issue 19: December 2013
www.whatsgoodtodo.com

Welcome to the December edition of the
What’s Good To Do newsletter
Firstly we would like to say a very big thank you to all of you, our website users, for helping our website grow. We are very happy
to announce that we have had a record 2 MILLION HITS on our website during November! We have had a great year finding
things to review with theatre show likes Ghost, The Lion King, Thriller Live, War Horse and my favourite Ha Ha Holmes with Joe
Pasquale. We have also have some great restaurant reviews from small tea rooms to large national chains such as Frankie &
Bennies, Giraffe, Table Table, Brewers Fayre and Beefeater. We have also visited theme parks and attractions, been to Normandy,
and have reviewed hundreds of books, dvds and other products. We hope that you enjoy reading our reviews and maybe they
have inspired your own days out ideas or helped you make up your mind about making a purchase.
My favourite reviews of the year that I have been privileged to do were, as I mentioned earlier, Ha Ha Holmes with Joe
Pasquale - an extremely funny theatre show based on Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles (and I’m not a big fan
of his), Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep – which is the follow up book to The Shining and the one that surprised me most was a
children’s book (aimed at 8-11 year olds), The Befana Drama by Gianna Hartwright - this is a magical story that children and adults
will love about Italy’s VIPB (Very Important Present Bringer) and her quest to save her festival as Santa Claus is ready to take it
over! And very recently I have enjoyed the London Ghost Bus Tour and the educational London Time Tour Bus (review on page 4).
We hope that you continue to keep reading our website, magazine and newsletter and finding What’s Good To Do and we wish
you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Featured Review
London Time Tour Bus
www.timetour.co.uk
Reviewed by David Savage
On Saturday 23 November we went on a bus tour in London - but this
was no ordinary tour. The Time Tour Bus is an alternative sightseeing
tour around the city with Professor Quantum as your quirky tour guide.
We arrived at bus stop number 8 on Northumberland Avenue outside
the Grand Hotel, just off Trafalgar Square, just before the 2.45pm
departure time. The easiest way to get there is by tube to Charing
Cross and is a 5 minute walk from the tube station to the bus stop.
Parked at the bus stop was a black 1960s double-decker Routemaster bus where we were greeted by Professor Quantum, who is
a quirky cross between Doctor Who and Doc from Back to the Future (who wears 2 sets of glasses). We boarded the bus fitted
with tele-visual plasma screens, video cameras and a time phone, went upstairs and took our seats waited for the travel back
though time around the London streets!
For approximately 1 hour 15 minutes (this may last longer depending on traffic) we were driven around London (the driver was a
robot called Metal Face – although he doesn’t know he is a robot so you are not allowed to mention it to him!). Professor
Quantum takes you back through time showing you all the famous sights from Trafalgar Square, The Houses of Parliament,
Westminister Abbey, Downing Street, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, London Bridge and more. He
entertains you with historical facts about each place along with his own personal experiences of when he was there before and
who he met (I won’t go into detail to spoil it for you). Along the way he will even have a video chat with historical figures with his
time phone and plasma screens!
After the tour has finished Professor Quantum will then take you back through time, as long as he remembers to fit a part that fell
off at the start of the tour, to be back at the place you started from on Northumberland Avenue!
Overall, this is a fun and educational tour seeing the sites of London and learning the history about them. Professor Quantum is
quirky and slightly mad and interacts extremely well with passengers, especially the children, and getting them to join in with fun
and asking questions. This is a great way of seeing the city with humour and theatrics while still be given all the relevant history
behind London and its sites. This is a history lesson that kids and adults will enjoy.
The London Time Tour Bus is a great family friendly interactive tour from a charming but eccentric Professor Quantum. We highly
recommend it – education and fun combined, what could be better?
There is a tour every Saturday and Sunday at 2.45pm with daily tours during school holidays. Tickets cost £14 for children under
15, OAP's and Students, £20 for adults or £55 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children).
Rating: 5/5. For more information or to book tickets visit www.timetour.co.uk.

Featured Article We are now in December with Christmas
fast approaching, some love it, some hate
it and some find it extremely stressful -
but it doesn’t have to be!
Christmas is ranked as the sixth most
stressful event in your life but with some
planning you can reduce the stress and drama and enjoy the
holidays.
Set yourself a budget and stick to it - don’t decide that
because Christmas comes but once a year you can splash
the cash and credit cards. Decide what you can
realistically afford to spend on gifts, food, travel and
socialising.
Make a list of the people your need to buy presents for
and how much you are willing to spend on each person,
sticking within your budget. If you have a large group of
friends maybe do a Secret Santa where one person buys
another a gift, this reduces the cost for everyone and
adds a bit of fun as well.
Don’t leave your Christmas food or present shopping
until the last minute, there is nothing worse than having
to rush around the shops on Christmas Eve - do a little
bit each week with your normal shop and try to do your
shopping on weekday mornings when it’s not so busy
instead on weekends. If buying online why not see if
they retailer offers a gift wrapping service.
You will want to go out socialising over Christmas and
will often find yourself drinking more or being
encouraged to drink more than you are comfortable
with. It is possible to enjoy yourself and have a few
drinks without going overboard. Know your limits and
stick to them. Eat a good meal before going out. Drink a
glass of glass of water between alcoholic drinks and buy
smaller drinks (i.e, half a pint instead of a pint). You will
still have a great night but not suffer for it the next
morning.
If you are planning on visiting family let then know in
advance how long you will staying and don’t outstay
your welcome. This will save any misunderstanding and
reduce tension.
Make travel plans in advance so you are not rushing
around - the more you can sort out beforehand the bet-
ter relaxed you will be.
Remember, Christmas only lasts a couple of days.
If you are stuck for Christmas gifts idea why not take a look
through our website and read reviews of some great products
like Drumond Park’s Wordsearch Junior or Catch Phrase board
games. Maybe you are stuck for ideas for the man in your life?
Read our review of the Vivabox for Him - 7 sample bottles of
men’s fragrances with a voucher included to buy his favourite
bottle. Mum might like a good book to lose herself in such as
the humorous Yours Truly by Kirsty Greenwood. Or maybe you
would like to sit down as a family and enjoy a family adventure
film like Epic.
Maybe you fancy going out to the theatre or for a nice meal
somewhere? We have some great Food and Theatre reviews on
our website.
If you are thinking of what food items to buy for Christmas then
checkout our review of Aldi’s Specially Selected Christmas Food
range for some great tasty ideas at great prices.
How ever you decide to celebrate the holidays we hope that
you have a great one and find some time to relax. And if you
want to do something nice this year, if you have an elderly
neighbour who is alone the Christmas why not invite them
around for Christmas dinner!

Theatre Land
Get up close and personal as DINOSAUR ZOO roars into the West End This Christmas
Opening on Sunday 1 December 2013 until 12 January 2014
At the Phoenix Theatre, London
Following a hugely successful nationwide tour, including a one-month summer season at
Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, DINOSAUR ZOO heads to London’s West End for a Christmas run at the Phoenix Theatre, opening on Sunday 1
December, following previews from 27 November, and running through until 12 January 2014.
DINOSAUR ZOO creators ‘Erth’ use ingenious puppetry to bring dinosaurs to life in this interactive and imaginative live show, suitable for all the
family (age 3+). Audiences are introduced to a range of creatures from cute baby dinos to teeth-gnashing giants, including a carnivorous
theropod known as the Australovenator, based on the most complete meat-eating dinosaur skeleton found in Australia.
During the show, intrepid audience members brave enough to get up close and personal with the dinosaurs are brought onto the stage to assist
the Zoo Keeper in his/her daily tasks - but be warned - not all of these ravenous reptiles are as tame as they seem! For those who aren't able to
join the dinosaurs on stage, they will have the opportunity to meet them at the official ‘meet and greet’, which takes place at the end of each
show.
Fast-becoming a worldwide hit, DINOSAUR ZOO has played to family and schools audiences all over the world, from Australia to Los Angeles,
from New York City to Bahrain, exciting children with its popular mix of entertaining humour, adventurous daring and informative learning.
Australian based Erth create original live theatre at the forefront of new performance practice, inspiring audiences with their unique and
dynamic vision. Since its beginnings in 1990, the company has strived to provide audiences with eye-popping visual experiences incorporating,
amongst other disciplines, giant puppetry and inflatable environments. Erth has performed internationally at events and festivals, including the
Sydney Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in 2000.
DINOSAUR ZOO is directed by Scott Wright, designed by Steve Howarth and performed by Lindsey Chaplin, Scott Wright, Hal Silvester, Steve
Peck and Tina Jackson. DINOSAUR ZOO is presented in the UK by BOS Productions Ltd and Nick Brooke Ltd.

these affordable options!
Magazines
We currently have 2 quarterly magazines covering Manchester and London/Bedfordshire/
Hertfordshire with a distribution of 1000+ each. Our rates are very reasonable and affordable
with prices starting from £10 for an eighth of a A5 page. At these rates can you afford not to?
Our FREE magazines are distributed in schools, doctor surgeries, libraries, tourist offices and
many other places in the areas that they cover. We can even add your A5 flyers into our
magazines at £30 per 1000 (you will need to provide the flyer).
You too could run your own What’s Good To Do magazine in your area on a licence basis
subject to availability.
Website
Why not add your business or event to our searchable listings or have a banner on our Homepage. Our searchable listings cost from as little as £10 per year! Another great
option could be one of our £10 or larger £30 per month home page banner advert spaces.
Want more exposure and a FREE searchable listing on our website?
If you provide an offer or discount for our Membership Card we give you a FREE Standard Listing for as long as your offer is ‘LIVE’. You also have the
option of paying the difference to upgrade to a sponsored listing.
