August 8, 2016 Dear Westmont Parents: Welcome to a new school year at Westmont High School! We would like to extend our invitation for you to join us at this year’s Back-to-School Night. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday,

August 30th at 6:30 p.m. for this event. We will assemble in the Westmont quad at the center of campus for the opening of our evening. As you know, traffic on Westmont Avenue can be slow at peak times and during events, so you may wish to target your arrival time for 6:15 p.m. to be sure you don’t miss the beginning of the program. After the opening program in the quad, you will visit your student’s classrooms and teachers. The teachers will discuss their courses, content, expectations and goals for the year. Please be sure to fill in the attached student schedule so that you have the information necessary for you to navigate the campus and see your student’s teachers during the scheduled class meeting times. There will be student guides located throughout the campus to assist you in locating classrooms. Enclosed with this letter is a map of the campus to assist you on August 30th, and a flyer with sign up information for the PSAT exam. During the course of the evening itself, you will have opportunity to get to know our various booster groups on campus and may sign up with them as well! Regarding PTSA, they have cleared their email database for the 2015-2016 school year. In order to assure that you will continue to receive the daily PTSA bulletin, please download the membership form from the PTSA website (www.westmontptsa.org) or pick one up in student services. All juniors applying to a four year college should take the PSAT. This year we are also sponsoring it for all sophomores. The PSAT is the best preparation for the SAT, which is a test required for college admissions. Juniors taking the PSAT could qualify for the National Merit Scholarship. The PSAT test will be given at Westmont High School on Wednesday October 19th at a cost of $20 for juniors. No charge for sophomores. Testing locations to be determined. Juniors can purchase the PSAT during Back-to-School Night on August 30th at the Student Store. Starting on September 1st, Juniors can sign up and purchase the PSAT

through Westmont’s Webstore at:

All sophomores are automatically signed up at no charge. Space and test is limited! Please bring your receipt to Mrs. Sandy Cotton in Student Services to get your PSAT preparation booklet. If you have any questions, please contact your guidance advisor. No Refunds
