Welding
What the trade is about
• joining together pieces of metal by heating the surfaces to the point of melting using a blowtorch, electric arc, or other means, and uniting them by pressing, hammering.
Type of equipment used
• 24 ounce Ball Pein Hammer• Chipping Hammer• Gas/Cutting Torch Tip Cleaner• Flat Cross-Cut Bastard File• Magnetic Torpedo Level
Types of equipment con’t
• Combination Square• 4-1/2 inch Angle Grinder with two 60-Grit Sanding discs
and two grinding wheels
24 ounce Ball Pein Hammer
• This ball pein hammer is a tough general purpose tool for striking, punching, riveting, shaping and straightening unhardened metal.
Chipping Hammer
• A hand held hammer with chisel-shaped or pointed faces used to remove rust and scale from metal surfaces
Gas/Cutting Torch Tip Cleaner
• is a process that is used to cut steel and other metals of different thicknesses
Flat Cross-Cut Bastard File
• Popular file used by machinists, ship and engine builders, machinery builders and others who need rapid removal of metal
Magnetic Torpedo Level
• a type of spirit level with three spirit tubes for measuring horizontal, vertical, and diagonal planes
Combination Square
• A tool used for multiple purposes in woodworking, stonemasonry and metalworking. It is composed of a ruled blade and one or more interchangeable heads
4-1/2 inch Angle Grinder
• Could be used for smoothing the weld or cutting the metal
