We Respond to God’s Word

*RESPONSE OF FAITH Ephesians 4:1-6

I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS 1 Corinthians 12:4–7, 27

There are varieties of gifts, but it is the same Spirit who gives them. There are different ways of serving God, but it is the same Lord who is served. God works through each person in a unique way, but it is God’s purpose that is accomplished. To each is given a gift of the Spirit to be used for the common good. Together we are the body of Christ, and individually members of it. Within the community of the church, some are called to particular service as Deacons, as Ruling Elders and as Teaching Elders.

OFFERTORY ANTHEM Giver of Every Perfect Gift K. Lee Scott

Giver of every perfect gift, You shape my life from womb to grave. Reveal Your good and gracious will that plants me in this time and place. Display the gifts assigned to me. Make them a witness to Your name.

You planned and know the gifts I have; Creator God, from You they come, unique and special, from Your heart, intended for a chosen role. Thrill me to find and recognize the talents only You can give.

Revealing Word, sent Son of God, Proclaimer of the Kingdom’s dawn, it is for You, because of You, that every talent is bestowed. You have a part for me to fill, a purpose for this life of mine.

Enabling Spirit, Gift of gifts, empower me, stir up my faith, make me an instrument of peace, of mercy, blessing, peace and joy. Let me not miss another day in seeing what Your gifts can do.

Ron Levy has been called “first class” by The New York Times and regularly appears as a soloist and in partnership with many of the world’s leading singers and instrumentalists. Laura Hamilton spent more than three decades as principal associate concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. And Lanny Paykin maintains a diverse career in the New York City area, performing with many orchestras, on Broadway, in recording studios, and in solo and chamber music concerts. Admission to the concert is free; donations are appreciated. Join us!

Come out and learn the steps from a professional square dance caller—or just sit back and listen to the music. No experience required. The only requirement is to have a good time! Suggested donation: a canned good for a family in need or a home-less pet. Note: If you’d like to participate in the Chili Cook-Off, please email Pastor Penny ([email protected]).
