Where is Germany?
German Food
Germans started the traditions of the Easter eggs and Easter Bunnies. Gummy bears also came from Germany.
Gingerbread is very popular during Christmas time and the gingerbread house originated in Germany.
Some German foods are bratwurst (sausage), sauerkraut (cabbage), goulash (beef/pork) served with noodles, and schnitzel (pork/veal).
Today, I will have you sample chocolate, gummy bears, and cookies all from Germany.
ALDI, originated in Germany, is a local store that sells German products.
German Language• The German language is spoken in other
countries as well as Germany. • German is the main language in Germany,
Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Luxemburg.
• Over 100,000,000 people speak German throughout the world.
• We do not speak German at our house,
however our last name is German.

Castles in Germany are considered famous artwork. Here are the top 7 castles in Germany.

Made as a romantic medieval castle ruin.
6. Lichtenstein CastleLichtenstein Castle was built on the ruins of a ruined castle dating back to the 1200s.
5. Hohenschwangau CastleCrown Prince Maximilian discovered the ruins of the old fortress and made this his summer and hunting residence.

Designed as Frederick the Greats summer palace to fulfill Fredericks need of a relaxing retreat.
Sanssouci, the name itself means careless, without cares.

Built on top of a 200 meter rock and is surrounded on three sides by the Eltz River and a thick forest.
The public can see two thirds of the castle, the 33rd generation of the Eltz family lives in the other sections of the castle.
2. Hohenzollern CastleDuring a trip to Italy, Frederick William IV of Prussia, was passing through Southern Germany and felt the need to learn more about the history of his family..
He climbed to the top of Mount Hohenzollern and decided it was the perfect spot to build a memorial for the powerful dynasty.
• Neuschwanstein is the most famous castle in Germany, known as the Cinderella Castle. This castle provides wonderful views of the Alps.
1. Neuschwannstein Castle
Classical German music is performed around the world more than any other music. There are many famous German composers. Three of them are Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Richard Wagner.

• If you have watched cartoons before you have probably heard a lot of classical music. Cartoons would actually be pretty boring without music.

German Traditions• Germany has many traditions that are celebrated.• On the first day of 1st grade parents give their children
Schultuetes. These are treat bags with goodies and school supplies. The bags are shaped like a cone.
• A Christmas tradition originating from Germany is the Christmas Pickle. It is the last ornament put onto the tree and whichever child finds the pickle first receives and extra gift from St. Nicholas. My family follows this tradition and thelast 2 years my brother Connorhas found the pickle first. 2012 is going to be my year.
