NURSERY MANAGER:

Welcome To Little Butterflies Day Nursery!

This booklet offers some guidelines to help you give your child a prepared and settled start to nursery school on their journey through learning and education. It contains very important information about the nursery. Please keep the booklet in and safe place for future reference.

The Service

The Nursery opens between the following hours Full time places 8.00am - 6.00pm Part time places 8.00am –1.00pm 1.00pm – 6.00pm The Nursery will be dedicated to the social, physical, intellectual creative and emotional development of each child. This will be achieved through hard work and commitment by our experienced and qualified staff team under the supervision of a qualified manager with vast experience in childcare. Please help your child and us by ensuring that they are on time for nursery and are collected punctually. If for any reason you are going to be late dropping off your child late at nursery, please phone before 9.30am. It is very difficult for a child to get into a routine when they have missed the most important start of the day. It is also equally disruptive to all the children if they arrive or are collected late. An entry will be made in the late book each time a child is collected late and a fine will be imposed if a child is consistently collected late. The child’s place may be forfeited if the matter is not rectified. Children must always be brought to school and collected by a responsible adult. It is important for us to be kept up to date about any arrangements you have made for collecting your child. WE WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO GO HOME WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN THE KNOWN ADULT OR EMERGENCY CONTACT PERSON LISTED.

Settling In A child’s initial need upon starting nursery or school is to feel emotionally secure. We ask you to co-operate with us in helping to make this transition from home to nursery/school as gradual and as easy as possible. This is important for a variety of reasons:

Little Butterflies Day Nursery, Pilgrims Way Church, Pilgrims Way, East Ham E6 1HW Telephone No. 0208 475 0898 - OFSTED Reg. No. EY265405

For your child to get to know and form a relationship with a new group of adults and children. For you to observe how the Nursery functions and to be familiar with the routine and the things your child will talk about at home. For you to inform us about your child and the activities s/he enjoys doing. The first visit will be for few hours with the parent/carer present. After that, consulting with the nursery nurse, the length of the visit will increase gradually (in most cases 2 hours for 2/3 days) or until you are able to leave him/her happily in the Nursery. All children are different and it can take between one week or one month for your child to be truly settled. All-day sessions are introduced gradually. Your child has a lot of new things to learn and can get very tired.

General Information Little Butterflies Day Nursery is a 40-place day-care nursery
