Everyday Mathematics -The Everyday Mathematics instructional design was carefully crafted to capitalize on studentinterest and maximize student learning.

High expectations for all students. Standards based. Extension and Differentiation on a daily

basis. Concepts and skills developed over time and in a wide variety

of contexts. Multiple methods and strategies for problem solving. Concrete modeling to abstract understanding. Collaborative learning in partner and group activities. Cross-curricular applications and connections. Effectively prepares students for Brownell and Beyond!

Daily Math Expectations

Enter class with all math supplies (books, homework, pencil, checking pen, etc.)

Begin class/day with math message/mad minute Compare homework with partner(s) Investigation with groups/ hands-on opportunities Discussion/conversation mandatory Student Journal include daily lessons and Math Boxes to assess

daily Study Links (SL) will be used for homework and parent

information Student Reference Book (SRB) is a reference book to be used

as needed

5th Grade Grading SystemES Exceeds Standards Consistently performs above grade level standards. Demonstrating mastery of the academic content at grade level and beyond.

MS Meets Standards Consistently and accurately demonstrates skills. Independently applies the knowledge, skills, and standards appropriate to their grade level. Shows evidence of mastery on multiple and varied assessments over time.

AS Approaching Standards. Demonstrated skills inconsistently. Show progress, but is not at grade level standard yet.

CA Concerns in the area. Needs considerable assistance and is performing significantly below standards. Struggles in this area; shows little or no progress.
