Transcript of Welcome! November 06, 2016 Serving the Lord Today… Keeping...
The Psalmist urges us: “Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of the faithful” (Psalm 149:1, NRSV). And so we shall! Welcome.
If you are a first time guest, we would like to get more acquainted and minister to you more effectively. Please take a “Guest Information” card from the chair back pocket, complete both sides and place in the offering plate. At the conclusion of the service please stop by the Welcome Center to receive a Thank You gift for visiting with us. It is our prayer that you will be blessed by today’s worship.

To improve the safety of our children we are going to an online computer check in/out
system for all of our Children's Ministry classrooms including Nursery, Preschool, Sunday School, Children's Church (check-in prior to going to worship) and Wednesday Kids Club. This begins TODAY for all Kids’ services. Parents will need to check their child in/out at the check-in station, located by the main entrance, before going upstairs to The
Heartland. Any questions please see Trevin Hogle. If my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and PRAY, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from HEAVEN, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Today, November 6th
, has been designated as
“Pray for Our Country Day.”
On Tues, Nov 8th, Americans will vote for their next president,
along with other local and state leaders. Franklin Graham has called it “the most critical election of our lifetime” and urges people to join him in praying for the nation the day before. Visit Franklin Graham’s Facebook page at 9 pm ET on Nov. 7 to pray together for America.
There will be a special called Business Meeting THIS EVENING after the PM Service. This meeting will be to vote on the Children’s Policies and Procedures. There are hard copies for those who can’t or don’t do email at Special Events desk. We will also elect messengers to attend the KBC meeting on Nov 15.
This Church dinner is to celebrate how blessed we are to have a full staff and to thank those who stepped up to fill in during our search. The dinner will be next Sunday, November 13
th, following our morning Worship service. This is Pot Luck!
Please bring two or three dishes to share. Main dishes, veggies, salads, sides, and/or desserts. There will be no evening activities next Sunday. Support our Children's Sunday School "Bake for Missions" to raise money for Lottie Moon Missions. Baked goods are available in the foyer TODAY, and next Sunday, November 13
th. The goal is to raise $1000. Stop by the
table, make a donation and take home something sweet! Please bring your donated baked goods separated into portion sizes...individual items or "family sized" and label what the item is.
Nov 12 at Southside Baptist: UBC Youth will help Southside’s annual fall festival.
You need to have a UBC Medical Release form for 2016 completed in order to go with us. Sign up on the Youth Table if you can come! We will meet at UBC 9:30 am and plan to return around 1:30 pm.
Wed, Nov 23 & Sun, Nov 27 No youth activities (Happy Thanksgiving!)
YOUTH BULLETINS are available on the website…keep informed! As Appalachian families struggle to survive, Christmas gifts are not a necessity for life, so there could be no gifts at Christmas. Each year we conduct a new toy drive to collect toys for Appalachian children. A UBC team travels to McDowell, KY for 3 days to help distribute the toys & food along side of “G.A.P.” (God’s Appalachian Partnership; www.gapky.org). The families are presented the Christmas story and the good news of
Jesus Christ, and have a chance to choose toy(s) for their children.
Our collection effort will run through Sunday, November 20th
. We have a big truck to fill so there is a large storage bin in the narthex to place your gifts in. So, if you see toys on clearance, an item that would be perfect for one of the teens, or you see a great clearance item for mom or dad, go on and pick it up! Take advantage of those “buy any item get one free” coupons from Harbor Freight. These are great for Dad! If you would prefer to give a monetary gift to purchase food for distribution, please place your gift in the offering plate marked clearly for GAP FOOD. As always, all contributions are greatly appreciated.
If you are completing your own shoeboxes please have them to the church by next Sunday, November 13
th. You can still make a donation for postage. Postage is
$7.00 per box. Contact Dot Miller: 918-6254/email: [email protected]
We want to take a moment to thank you for all the wonderful gifts, cards, calls, and every other way you have blessed us this month. We pray that God will bless you as much as you’ve blessed us. We thank Him for your gifts, shared from a heart of love. We pray that God would touch you in a very special way and fill you more with His love, each and every day. From: The Ministry Staff
Please join us this Friday, November 11th 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. for our final fall study. Our
video this week is “What is Thanksgiving?” “What are we thankful for?” We will also be having an evening of fellowship after the short video. We are asking everyone please bring their favorite fall appetizer, snack, desert, etc. (Pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll; etc.) Hope to see you there! The Senior Adults will be taking their annual trip to Renfro Valley November 19
th.
Please sign up on the bulletin board. We will meet at the church at 10:00 AM.

God’s Plan for Your Life Are you certain you have eternal life and will go to Heaven when you die? What would you say if you were standing before God right now and He asked you, “Why should I let you into My Heaven?” God’s Purpose: God loves us and has a purpose for our lives. The Bible says it this way: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) Our Need: As we search for meaning in life, we discover that our sinful nature keeps us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. We are all sinners by nature and by choice. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) God’s Provision: God is holy and just and must punish sin. Yet He loves us and provides forgiveness for our sin. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6) Our Response: The only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to receive Him. We must surrender to Jesus as Lord. “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved” (Rom. 10:9-10) My Commitment: “Dear Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and died to forgive me of my sins. I know I have sinned. I ask You to forgive me. I turn from my sins, and I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me. I want to live for You the rest of my life. Amen.”
