W’s ROVING eye Well, what’s the use of a pair of good eyes that never rove? Weekend’s
been going through our fashion files for the week and these are the people who caught our fancy for either their style, their courage or their star power. Well played!

The most interesting days of the week are always when I'm design-ing a wedding event and I give my hundred percent to it.I love pro-ducing beautiful weddings where a lot of thoughts, creativity & ef-fort go into every detail.
This week I'm going to take you on a behind the scenes journey of my events. Taking the whole team and traveling to Islamabad is always fun and adventurous.
Two days and nights of hard work are involved to create something what my client wants.
I do my work myself and I love it, I don't leave it on my team to complete it. I always stay the whole day at the venue of the main event to give it my best and to maintain standards and quality. My mission is to create the ultimate luxuri-ous experience for my clients. Without compromising on the quality we source high end vendors and the freshest picked flowers; combing these elements in the most classy and elegant way possible. This is how we deliver a truly luxuri-ous experience.
I love Gold. Even though this event was a garden theme but I always intro-duce a touch of gold to give a rich and formal look. Whatever you decide make sure that your wedding event should look timeless. You will not want to look back and regret the decisions you made and have a "what was I thinking mo-ment" later.
To design something exceptional your mindset must be focused on the smallest detail. A wedding is not a wedding if there are no flowers and acces-sories should always be used to compliment your decor and do remember, the difference between something good and something great is attention to detail. I often get asked which of our weddings is your favorite? The truth is I really can't pick one. All of the weddings we arrange are very special and close to my heart.

When it comes to contouring, there are not many drugstore brands
that have highlighting and contouring products. Maybelline has the Master Sculpt duo with which you can sculpt, define and reshape with the cool toned contour powder and highlight with the slightly shimmer powder. The contour powder is aimed at contouring, not bronzing. Some brands try to sell a more orange based bronzer as a contour powder but orange is not the colour of the natural shadow underneath our cheekbones. The Master Sculpt is perfect as an affordable contouring and highlighting duo and it comes with a small brush that makes the product really easy to apply.
When it comes to eye products, Maybelline has all our bases covered. Let’s start with the Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow/Creamy Mattes. These little round pots contain a cream eye shadow which alone
is super pigmented and provides a vibrant colour. You can use alone as a eyeshadow but they also make a superb base for eyeshadow to go on top. I would liken the matte ones to MAC’s Paint Pots which we all know are excellent eye-priming bases but can be expensive. These are at a fraction of the price and practically do the same thing. Like the name suggests they have up to 24hr staying power and the formula feels light on the lids and is also fade-resistant. The range has up to 12 colours ranging from neutrals to more vibrant shades.
Moving on to eyeshadow, my favourite by far is the Nude Palette which is an affordable dupe for the more expensive and extremely popular Naked Palette by Urban Decay. The
small and lightweight palette has 12 colours that are shimmer and matte colours making the palette convenient to travel with. The black shade in the palette is more pigmented than some of the black shades included in expensive, higher end palettes. Maybelline has also come up with its Blushed Nudes palette also which is of course a dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette and the Rock Nudes palette you guessed it, is a dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked Smoky one. You could get these three palettes by Maybelline for less than the price of one Urban Decay Naked palettes. And as a bonus, the Maybelline eyeshadows have little to no fallout compared to the chunky, glitter mess that the Urban Decay eyeshadows leave behind. I just wish Maybelline had come out with these at the same time as Urban Decay so I wouldn’t spend all my money on those!
A staple in my makeup bag and that of almost every girl I imagine, is a liquid eyeliner. I have been wearing eyeliner for years but even now, on some days perfecting the feline flick can take me up to 15 minutes. You draw, you smudge, you clean, you draw again, you overdraw and soon enough it’s been an hour
and you’re wondering is this where the precious years of my life have gone? So naturally, I’m always on the lookout for a product that makes the job of applying eyeliner less arduous. There’s a criteria I go by when looking for the perfect eyeliner; it should be super pigmented, budge-proof so it doesn’t transfer on the lids and easy to apply of course. Herein comes the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner. Anytime anyone asks me what eyeliner I’m wearing, I always tell them it’s the Master Precise and they refuse to believe me (seriously, why would anyone lie about eyeliner?) because it’s hard to believe that an affordable product from a drugstore brand would be the perfect eyeliner. The product has a felt tip which makes it that much easier to work with, it doesn’t dry (I use one pen for at least 6-9 months and I hear you, shouldn’t use any eye product for that long but hey, if it ain’t broke…) and it is pigmented enough to provide a deep black colour but not overly matte or shiny. And like its name, the felt tip provides a very precise line. And from time to time I like to change up my staples and go for something new, but I always come back to the Master Precise because others on the market just aren’t good enough.

The Cakery Bakery
The Cakery Bakery is currently run by the talented chef Arooba Riz-wan. The Cakery Bakery began as a small humble venture initiated by Arooba’s sister 8 years back who is a self taught baker herself. When the venture began, there were hardly any other home-based bakers as such so their clientele developed very fast. However, because of Arooba’s passion for baking, she partnered up with her sister and began relentlessly working for the Cakery. According to Arooba, “I’ve seen our business only flourish and grow in these past 8 years and boy, it’s been the best roller coaster ride of my life. I’ve learned and experienced countless things managing The Cakery Bakery and I wouldn’t have it any other way”
This week, we got together with Arooba to give you the exclusive insight on how to make Pancakes with Salted Caramel Drizzle!

I have realized recently that mothers are a very opinionated, and at times judgmental, lot. Now this may seem odd coming from someone who occasionally blogs about being a mother, but let me get one thing straight: the reason I decided to write a blog about motherhood, amongst other things, was to share my experience as a mom.
Not because I’m a perfect mother or I have all the answers, but because I, like most mothers, am pretty much winging it. As such, I wanted other mothers who read my blog to know that it’s okay you’re not alone! You’re not the only one thoroughly confused about which car seat to buy, or the only one who has struggled folding your er in the middle of heavy traffic, or the only one who has been on the receiving end of glares from fellow travellers, who has questioned her ability to be a mother, and a good one almost every other day. And so, if you find that at any point I am sounding too sanctimonious and “judgyjudgy” as a mother on the blog, do me a favour and whack me on the head with a dirty diaper.
So as most of you know, I have been travelling for the majority of the last two months. I was in Pakistan for about a month and then as soon as I came back from there, we left for New York for about 9 days. And so I was exposed to two sets of opinions. In Pakistan,

mothers think that I am too hands on and involved with my baby. I was even told by someone that my daughter just wanted to get away from me. If I ran after her because she was about to smash somebody’s very beautiful and expensive china into smithereens, I was told to let her be and to let her do her thing (which let me reiterate in this case was to break a rather fetching tea seat). To the point that I started wondering, have I really become a helicopter parent? Have Mr. M’s allegations of me being too laissez faire as a parent, finally had their effect? Am I obsessed with my kid? I almost started feeling a little ashamed and conscious of my parenting style. Am I being too paranoid if I’m following her up those narrow stairs? Should I just let her climb the glass coffee table? However, my insecurities don’t end there.
Fast-forward and we are in New York. This time I am the “dheela” (relaxed) parent, who shocks everybody by letting her kid take a sip of her tea. Apparently, letting her take a sip of my tea is equivalent to filling her bottle with coca cola and handing it to her. Jeez. Now I get that kids are not supposed to have caffeine. But are coke and tea really equal? My daughter is not going to become a caffeine fiend if on the rare occasion that I myself am having tea she comes and takes a sip. In fact if I dig a little deeper I’m sure I’ll find that Chinese parents let their kids have tea all the time. Okay, fine so I am not proud of it. She loves to sip on most drinks that adults are having and yes it started in Pakistan where the tea tradition runs strong, so she would come by insisting on tasting whatever was in my cup. But it’s not as though everyday at tea-time I fill her sippy cup with a strong cup of Tetley and hand her a cigarette with it. People just need to ease up on the opinions and the judgment. I have noticed that it is mostly people whose kids have grown up or passed your child’s stage that feel the need to share their opinions with such authority. They conveniently forget how things were for them back in the day. For example, the friend who told me my daughter just wanted to get away

from me, for the first two to three years of her child’s life could not stick to a maid because she insisted on doing everything herself. On the face of it, that sounds pretty clingy to me, but hey, I never said it, nor did I judge her for it.
I have realized that there is no perfect mom. Nobody is an expert at being a mother. Because being a mother is not a job. It’s not like being the best lawyer in the city, or the best accountant. It is too variable. Just because something worked for your child does not mean that it will work for mine. Just because you raised your children a certain way, doesn’t make it the right way for everybody, it was just the right way for you. Everybody’s values, preferences, choices in life differ and all these differences are reflected in our parenting style. Most importantly, everybody’s child is different and you have to follow your own child’s cues. So yes, you may have five kids and know all there is to know about them, but that still doesn’t make you an expert on my child.
As mothers I think we need each other’s support. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting with my friends over a cup of tea and exchanging our stories—our trials and tribulations, our insecurities, and our highs and lows. And in such moments all you want is for somebody to listen to you, offer advice yes, but more importantly listen and empathize. Not to judge, or berate, or make you feel like you’re doing a lousy job (mostly unintentionally, but it still hurts!). Not to establish their own superiority. Just to listen. I think we need to practice this more, and who knows it might even make us better mothers, if not just better friends to one another.

(FR): Favourite childhood memory? (SB): It was fun. I was that mysterious kid. I locked up my teacher once! She
was being mean to me so I locked her out. (SG): I come from a very liberal background so I had a very different childhood from you would normally expect from a Pakistani family. I had a lot of fun in my childhood. My favorite memory would be going to NCA with my dad I was five years old so it was a pretty great experience. I went into the class where my dad was teaching.

My mom teaches in Learning Alliance. I have an elder sister and an elder brother. My elder brother is an architect and my sister is a journalist for Express Tribune. I am the youngest one!
FR: How did you guys come together? SG: Do you want the actual story? [Laughs]
FR: Yes, please!SB: Okay so we have known each other a long time. It was 2011 when we met at the YLES conference. At that time we had just a little chit chat. We also had a lot of mutual friends. I joined the University of London external programs where Sachal was also
enrolled. We both were carrying the same BBA folder. He saw me and said hi. I said hi, you are now my best friend. Since then, we haven’t looked back.

There was this girl who pushed me and I fell off the ramps. Thank god there was beach sand. I could have died! This is was one crazy experience although not something I would ever want to do again! SG: Me and Shams travelled to Thailand and we were at a resort on the beach. There was a patio 25 feet high where
we were having breakfast. Most of the people were diving with their equipment, snorkelling. I just felt like I had to jump as well and without my equipment! I just ran like crazy and dived into the ocean.

Being in Edin-burgh feels like one has en-tered a magical
realm with old myths and legends spoken off, that live on to this day.
A city of hills, nestled between seven hills, Cal-ton Hill was my favourite by far. Getting to the top isn’t as easy as it looks as you walk up Waterloo
Place. It is connected to the main shopping street of the ‘Burgh’, Princes Street, and is a slightly up-hill route. On the way to this scenic location, there is the Old Calton Burial Ground which is an iconic graveyard, with prominent figures from Scotland’s past includ-ing David Hume. P.S: I totally enjoyed a slightly

Hi, I’m Eimaan, and I’m going to use this space to share my favourite spots in Edinburgh. While I was
there, I got the chance to explore and experience the diverse culture of the city, so here’s my scoop!

nerdy and enlightening moment considering my education background while walking through this burial ground.
Trekking up a wind-ing path, with the most massively aggravating steps, the liberating feel-ing upon reaching the top has no comparison when facing the view. Standing at the summit there’s a different view to observe and take in from every angle. From one side you see the hustle and bustle of the city centre with the Ed-inburgh Castle perched atop Castle Rock, move to another point and the North Sea is visible, circle around and there is a breathtaking view
of Old Town - the begin-nings of the city and the ever so busy Waverley Train Station. It is truly a magnificent sight.
There are a few historical monuments upon that hill including the infamous Scottish National Monument a.k.a Scotland’s Disgrace. However, I’d say it’s the most relaxing feeling once you’ve climbed up that monument is just sitting cross-legged and breathing in the beauty
of the place. I’d highly recommend
going there during the summer or even better – spending the New Year Eve. Every year, accord-ing to tradition, on the 30th of December there is a torch light proces-sion from the Royal Mile all the way up to Calton Hill, a highly magical and memorable experience that I will bet you can never forget!
