T H E P R O B L E MMan wants to live outside of God’s
rulership and authority.
Man has rejected God’s rulership over his life, and in doing so brings upon ourselves a problem that only God can solve.

Garden of Eden?
The temptation in the garden was not pleasure, it was about rebellion and autonomy from the rulership of God.

1. Isaac’s birth was a supernatural sign from God.
2. God’s choice was based on election instead of tradition.
3. Protection from syncretism (mixing with other religions and their foreign gods).

T H E S O V E R E I G N T Y O F G O Din captivity of His people to Egypt
1. It showed God’s discipline for their syncretism.
2. It showed God’s grace in protecting them from inter-marriage and influence of the Canaanite culture.
3. In showed God’s wisdom in using their captivity and persecution as a means of preserving their identity and lineage.
4. It set the stage for God’s deliverance of his people the hand of Pharaoh and Egypt.
5. It prepared they way for God’s salvation through his chosen deliverer Joseph in a miraculous and glorious way.
T H E P R O B L E M1. Mankind is lost and cut off from God

3. God seeks to restore man to His original design and restore relationship.
