The Fourth Sunday in Lent also known as

Mothering Sunday1030 31 March 2019 AD

JERUSALEM which is above is free; which is the mother of us all…

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free,

and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.GALATIANS 4:26—5:1

The Fourth Sunday in Lent Service setting: Merbecke

Opening Hymn: 586 (vs 1,2,3,4) The God of Abraham praise

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. All Amen.

The priest greets the peopleThe Lord be with you

All and with thy spirit.

All Almighty God,unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden:cleanse the thoughts of our heartsby the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy name;through Christ our Lord.Amen.

Summary of the Law Our Lord Jesus Christ said:"Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord;and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this:Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets

All Lord, have mercy upon us,and write all these thy laws in our hearts, we beseech thee.

-9-

All We do not presumeto come to this thy table,O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthyso much as to gather up the crumbs under thy table. But thou art the same Lordwhose nature is always to have mercy.Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord,so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christand to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his bodyand our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

The Administration of Communion The priest and people receive communion. Baptized persons of other Churches which subscribe to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity and who are allowed to receive the Sacrament in their own Church are welcome to Communion. Those who do not wish to receive communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing – you may indicate by crossing your arms over your chest at the altar rail.

Amen.Almighty and everlasting God, who hates nothing that thou hast made, and forgives the sins of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Epistle: Galatians 4:21-31 page 974 in your pew Bible

Psalm 122

2nd Part

I WAS glad when they said ’ unto ’ me : We will ’ go into the ’ house of the ’ Lord.* 2 Our ’ feet shall ’ stand ’ in thy ’ gates : ’ O Je’rusalem.3 Jerusalem is ’ built as a ’ city : that is at ’ unity ’ in it’self.4 For thither the tribes go up, even the ’ tribes of the ’ Lord : to testify unto Israel, to give thanks ’ unto the ’ Name of the ’ Lord.

2nd Part 5 For there is the ’ seat of ’ judgement : even the ’ seat of the ’ house of ’ David.6 O pray for the ’ peace of Je’rusalem : they shall ’ prosper that ’ love ’ thee.7 Peace be with’in thy ’ walls : and ’ plenteousness with’in thy ’ palaces.8 For my brethren and com’panions' ’ sakes : I will ’ wish ’ thee pros’perity.

9 Yea, because of the house of the ’ Lord our ’ God : I will ’ seek to ’ do thee ’ good.Glory be to the Father ’ and to • the ’ Son : and ’ to the ’ Holy ’ Ghost; As it was in the beginning is ’ now and • ever ’ shall be : world without ’ end. A ’ — ’ men.
