Displays will be judged based on the following criteria:- Incorporating theme (25 points)- Creativity (25 points)- Appearance (25 points)- Spirit (25 points)

Hospitality RoomThe Hospitality Room will be located at the hotel. We will

hopefully have Domino’s as a sponsor and offer Domino’s pizza in the hospitality room. We will also have a variety of board games available in the hospitality room. We will also be investigating a sponsorship from Bubble Island to offer Ann Arbor’s famous bubble tea in the hospitality room. We will also offer a variety of other snack foods.

Conference DetailsHousing Facilities:

We are currently still finalizing prices between three different hotels for the MORHA 2011 Conference. We will either be using the Four Points by Sheraton, the Courtyard by Marriott, or the Holiday Inn Express, depending on which hotel offers the best price. All three of these hotels are within three miles of Central Campus. There will be four delegates per hotel room and advisors will be two per room with single rooms available upon request at an additional cost. All three hotels offer free Wi-fi.

Program sessions will all be held in Mason Hall classrooms, which is in the same building where the role call will take place. Computer access will be available in the classrooms in order to

Page 11: michiganorha.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewSiera Casper, Sophomore, Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences major. Sasha Zarins, Junior, Political Science major. Rachel Seltz,

accommodate presenters with powerpoint slides. All of the classrooms also have a whiteboard available.

The banquet will be held in the University Club of the Michigan Union. We will have the banquet catered by the University of Michigan Catering and then have the dance immediately following. We are already working with the University Catering Services to get a discounted rate.

Program Sessions:There will be the following five categories for programs for

the MORHA 2011 conference: diversity, educational, teamwork, social, and veteran. We will have four programming sessions with a goal of 50 programs. Program presenters will have access to the room prior to their presentation in order to set-up. After the four programming sessions are complete, we will select the top ten programs based on the evaluations turned in. The evaluations will include the following assessments: Originality, Creativity, Reproducibility, and Enthusiasm. Once the top ten programs are selected, delegates will have the opportunity to attend one. The program presenters of the top ten programs will be recognized at the banquet.

EntertainmentFriday Night:

We will be working with University Unions Arts and Programs to present a special U-Mix for the MORHA 2011 Conference. UMix Late Night is a series of fun, late-night activities and events for

Page 12: michiganorha.files.wordpress.com  · Web viewSiera Casper, Sophomore, Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences major. Sasha Zarins, Junior, Political Science major. Rachel Seltz,

University of Michigan students both on and off campus during the prime social hours of 10 PM - 2 AM on Friday nights. UMix provides opportunities for student to have fun, relax and enjoy Friday nights in the comfort of your student Union! UMix features, live entertainment, movies, dances, student organization sponsored events, hands on activities and many other social events catered to the interest of a diverse student population. Don’t miss out on the Midnight food buffet at every event!

Swap Shop will also be occurring back at the hotel for delegates who do not want to attend U-Mix.

Saturday Night:There will be a dance following the banquet Saturday night

until 1:00 a.m. It will be located in the University Club of the Michigan Union, the same place where the banquet will be held. Swap shop will also be held at the hotel from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Volunteers:There will be a variety of individuals who will be willing and

eager to help with the MORHA 2011 conference. We will be reaching out to other organizations on campus to ask for their help with volunteers. We also expect high participation from the University of Michigan RHA Assembly. By extending MORHA volunteers beyond RHA, we will give the entire campus the opportunity to become involved and learn about MORHA. Volunteers will have the opportunity to present programs at the conference, give directions, be part of the set up crew, providing information, as well as many other services.

Sponsorships:If the University of Michigan is chosen for the MORHA 2011

conference, we will begin finding sponsorships. Possible sponsorships would be Domino’s, which works closely with the University of Michigan’s RHA, Underground Printing, Bubble Island, Meijer, Pepsi, Staples, and Best Buy.

Conference PhilanthropyFor the conference’s overall philanthropy this year, we chose

the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.History of the Make-A-Wish Foundation:

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer.
