Thomas Nobbs, ranked # 5 in IAAF World List for Youth 2000mSC, and Double Gold Medal and Canadian Champion in 3000m and 2000m Steeplechase.Devan Wiebe, three time University Games Standards with PB 2:03.21 in 800m. Eliopoulos and Schiedel, Silver and Bronze at Canadian Junior ChampionshipsSeven BC Champion Titles at BC Jamboree Championships.

Nina Schultz of New West Spartans, who is ranked # 6 at World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz -Poland, broke the BC record of heptathlon with 5639 points, the last event of the 2016 track and field season, which was the Canadian Legion National Track and Field Championship held in St.Therese, QC.

Two of our top youth athletes, represented BC Provincial Team at this championships:Anastas Eliopoulos, ranked # 1 for 110mH, in the country for youth category and Silver medal for juniors with a great time and new BC Junior record of 13.84, and Thomas Nobbs, ranked # 1 in the country in 3000m and 2000m SC. Despite an ankle injury after the first hurdle, Eliopoulos could not finish his race, but for the season he still remains ranking # 2 in the country at his event of 110mH with 14.09 for youth category, and second for junior with 13.84, with his new BC record for this group age. He may potentially be considered within the high level of the international results in the youth category.

Thomas Nobbs, was the top male athlete of the BC Province Team and the leader of distance events in the country.

Nobbs ran a great 3000m, winning the gold medal and Canadian Championship title with a personal best of 8:30.83. He is now ranked # 1 in the country, for youth category.

After a slow first km of 2:53 sec., he led the last 5 laps of the race against the strong wind, with a fast rhythm, and won the race, demonstrating high level of endurance.

On Sunday, Nobbs ran a great 2000m Steeple Chase, achieving another personal best of 5:54.41, winning another gold and his second Canadian Champion title. Only 40 minutes after his great race, Nobbs, ran a strong third leg of 400m at 4x400m relay, helping the BC Team to win the bronze medal.

Our athletes, achieved all these great results with the tremendous motivation and dedication including our coaching staff.

This is a huge achievement for the VOC as a top program in the province and in the country It is the only program that has two athletes ranked top 6 in the World Level for their respective age, youth, high school, and juniors:

Thomas Nobbs, of VOC, ranked # 5 in 2000mSC for Youth and Nina Schultz, of New West Spartans, ranked # 6 at World Junior Championships for Juniors.

All of the athletes are trained in our program, from the early age of the JD group, up to Provincial and National Level and even to the World Youth and Junior Championships, under the leadership of our Head Coach, Tatjana Mece.The program has had a huge support from the Douglas College Athletics Department and especially from the Sport Science Lab instructor Ryan Cook, who did specific testing with our team and made suggestions to improve their strength program.
