We have been taking the children since summer 2012 and this has proved to be an excellent extra activity for children aged 4-12 years. The activity lasts for 2 hours running from 2pm-4pm. The children experience putting on skiing boots, climbing low and high ski hills, using a rope pull and being taught techniques to ski independently. We take a maximum of 24 children at any one time. Children from Ladysmith will walk to and from the skiing centre, which is located at the rear of Clifton Hill Sports Centre. Children attending from other sites will be transported using the FISH MPV or train from Cranbrook, there is a maximum of 6 spaces from other sites.

Clothing Children MUST wear long tops and trousers; have a pair of socks with them and a pair of gloves. Failure to provide this clothing may mean they are unable to participate.

Lego Mania

Does your child love Lego? If so this is the activity for them! In small groups children will make anything from robots moved by hydraulics to awesome Lego technic racers. Constructing various shapes and vehicles wherever their imagination takes them with the help of our Lego mania specialist. Time to battle your remote robots or race your racing car on the speed test track! The stopwatch is exact to the hundredths of a second, so even the smallest change could make all the difference! Because of the complexity of making some of these models children need to be aged 7 and over.

Age This activity is suitable for children aged 7 -12.

Horse Riding

We have been taking the children horse riding since we started FISH at Chudleigh and due to it popularity we now offer this activity at all most of our clubs. Our Exeter, Alphington, & Cranbrook clubs all ride at Oaklands riding stables in Exeter, while our Chudleigh club rides at Finlake riding centre. The children gain confidence and skills to ride ponies with supervision and guidance. At Oaklands riding stables children get to groom and tack the ponies ready to ride. Each child will have a 30 minute grooming session and a 30 minutes riding lesson. At Finlake the ride is 45 minutes.

Clothing Long trousers, wellies (hard hats are provided)

Age This activity can suit children aged 4 -11 years.

Street Danz

New in 2013 and back by popular demand we have now included Street Danz at more of our clubs this year. Street dance is a colloquial dance form, one that has been developed on the streets taking lots of different forms of dance and creating a totally unique dance form. Your child will be taught by a local dance school with a strong reputation. Children will be taught in this funky way of moving with the 5 main styles of Street Dance: Locking, Breaking, Popping, House and Hip Hop. The dancing that most people can associate with is commercial street, which is simply an amalgamation of all of the different styles.

Clothing comfortable clothing, and trainers.

Age This activity is suitable for children aged 5 -12.

Trampolining

New for 2017 and bouncing into all of our clubs! The trampolining sessions are run by the Exeter Trampolining Academy. All the equipment has been especially designed for the Academy and includes 2 ultimate trampolines, as used in the Olympics! If your child has always wanted to try the sport but never had the opportunity, ETA is your chance. Trampolining is an Olympic sport and ETA’s coaching team has competed and been working within the national circuit for almost 15 years. Why not let your child learn new skills all available in a fun and safe environment.

Clothing comfortable clothing & socks essential

Age This activity is suitable for children aged 4 -12.

ArcheryNew in 2012, this is a free activity that doesn’t have to be booked in advanced, due to the success of the introduction to archery we have now purchased an extra set of equipment so that we can offer archery at more than just one site at any time, with the equipment moving around the clubs throughout the summer holidays. We have put up a timetable of when the equipment is currently booked to visit sites but this may be subject to change. Archery is taught outside and may not run to weather conditions out of our control. During our sessions children will be taught the basic technique, safety, range etiquette and a general knowledge of the sport. Once children have become more confident we will then carry out a range of target games.

Clothing – comfortable clothing, and trainers (no open top shoes).

This activity is suitable for children aged 7 -12 depending on their ability to hold the bow and pull the string.

Electric Go KartsNew in 2012, this is a free activity that doesn’t have to be booked in advanced, your children love our Go Karts and if they haven’t been on them yet they will delight your kids with their first real driving experience. The electric karts can travel at pre-determined speeds of between 1 & 6 MPH, they are fitted with safety harnesses and are fully tested & certified. Getting children into our Go Karts is a lot easier than getting them out!! The Go Karts are based at our St Martins and Ladysmith sites, but will visit other clubs throughout the summer holidays.

SwimmingOur clubs at Chudleigh, St Peters & Two Moors are fortunate to have outdoor swimming pools on site, this is a free activity that doesn’t have to be booked in advanced - although outdoors the pools are heated and have lifeguards on duty while we are swimming. At these sites all our children are able to take part in swimming. All our children are swim tested before they are allowed in the water by one of our swimming instructors or lifeguards we will then decide whether we feel they should have a swimming aid in the form or armbands or back floats. We understand that some children may not be using armbands in their swimming lessons or in your own time but your child’s safety is paramount and we will not let them swim if we feel they are not strong enough. Please provide swimming aids if you know your child will need them as our resources are limited!

Our Big Fishes at St Michaels club will swim at Pyramids Leisure Centre - we need a minimum of 12 children to allow this activity to run.

Cinema TripsThe children really enjoy the cinema trips. St Michaels FISH currently attend the Vue cinema where the children can relax and enjoy a kids club film with their friends. We walk to and from the cinema and quite often we will stop for a play at Belmont park on the way back! Each film roughly runs for 80-90 minutes.*Spending money can be given but is not essential.

Bowling Trips Back for the third year, bowling for our Exeter based sites has proved very popular since it was introduced. Bowling will take place after lunch and children will then head back to their clubs stopping at the park on the way back. Ladysmith club will get the train from Pinhoe station, Cranbrook will also get the train and we normally meet up on the quay or at the park for a picnic lunch and a game a bowling afterwards.
