Year 3 English Home learning – Pack B
Here are your daily English tasks for the time you are learning at home. Try and always use your nearest joined up handwriting whenever you write! We would also like you to read for 15minutes each day. Either your school book, a book from home or on Myon.
Day 1
Today we will be looking again at verbs. To begin with, watch the video clip and complete the activities on this web page.

Next choose 4 different verbs and put them into a sentence.
Day 2
For the lesson today, we will be reminding ourselves about adjectives. Again, watch the video clip and complete activity 1 on this web page. (The Magic Faraway Tree)

Day 3
Now we’ve recapped on adjectives and verbs we would like you to rewrite these sentences improving the verb and adding adjectives. For example:
The boy was scared when he saw the ghost. The little boy was petrified when he saw a small white ghost floating past the door!
1. In the garden there were nice flowers.
2. At playtime the children wanted to use the new equipment.
3. The tree was big and moving in the wind
4. The fairy came into Sophie’s room and sat by her bed.
5. Jimmy ran to school because he wanted to show his teacher his homework.
4 Day
Today we are going to look again at question marks and exclamation marks. Watch the following video clips to remind yourself about them.

Now write three sentences that need an exclamation mark and three that need a question mark.
Day 5
Read the piece of text on the next page and then answer the questions below.
1. What type of text is this?2. How do you know?3. Copy a ‘caption’4. How is light similar to bouncing a ball?5. Use the exact words from the text to describe what a reflection is.6. What type of surface makes a reflection clear?
Day 6
What can you remember about our book Dr K Fisher? Explain to someone at home what an ‘agony uncle’ is. Think back to the letter that you wrote in class. Choose a different animal to write a letter to Dr K. Fisher. Don’t forget how to set out your letter. (Address, Date, Greeting, Sign off, PS)
Day 7
Now you are going to pretend that you are Dr K Fisher and write a reply to the letter from yesterday. Remember the features of a letter (see above). Also try to include these words in your reply. Reassure, sympathise, understand.

Now read though all of the subordination conjunctions below and then choose 5 to write in sentences of your own.
