March Madness

March madness is one of the biggest and most exciting events in all modern-day sports. March

madness is the NCAA division 1 men’s basketball tournament which is single elimination and starts with 68

teams that compete in seven rounds with hopes of winning the national championship. This tournament

has been held annually since its start in 1939. In 1939 when this tournament was held for the first time,

there were only eight teams competing. 79 years later there are now 64 teams that compete for the title

ever single year. In this year’s tournament, Loyola Chicago a highly touted underdog has done exactly what

many people thought was not possible, upsetting team after team to get themselves a bid to final four. Loy-

ola Chicago entered the tournament as an 11 seed who was not supposed to make it past the first round.

This is just some of the thrill that is march madness.

to office for the 2018-2019 year and will be inducted in April: Rebeca Caraballo (President); Samantha

Martinez and Sebastian Henderson were both recognized for distinguished chapter officer. Rebeca Caraballo

was elected as Regional Vice President of Public Relations at the conference as well. The chapter will be

attending the International Conference in late April in Kansas City, Missouri where Odalis Martinez will be

To most people, St. Patrick’s Day is simply a day to dress up in green clothing and hangout

with your friends. Although this is a fun holiday, its original purpose was for a much bigger reason.

In the fifth century, Saint Patrick was the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. He was born

in Roman Britain, where he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave. He then escaped but

eventually came back to Ireland, and brought with him Christianity. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated

on the anniversary of his death, March 17, and has been considered a religious hol-

iday to the Irish for over 1,000 years. Today, people of all backgrounds celebrate

this holiday.

Campus Visits

A campus visit is an opportunity to explore other schools. It can help students find the right school to transfer to and

it’s a great way to get more information about other schools. You will have a chance to ask any questions you may

have during your visit. A campus visit can help you decide which is your ideal school and give you the chance to make

a connection with them. Before you go you should explore the college’s website. This will help you come up with

specific questions when you are there in person. If you are interested in a campus visit, please sign up at the tutoring

center.

The ICC Fine Arts department presented “Les Miserables,” a play

morial Hall. If you have not seen the movie, play or read the novel

the story is about the French Revolution and rebellion. Many stu-
