Hockey We aim to give our children lots of opportunities and many took that last week when they took part in the Nelson Tasman 6 aside Hockey Champs at Saxton Field in Richmond last week. We entered three mixed teams in the Yr 3/4 grade and two boys and a girls in the Yr 5/6 grades. All teams came away with wins with our senior girls team picking up four wins a draw and two losses to finish third in their pool. It was a great opportunity to see the high levels of perseverance and commitment from many of the children. Thanks to all those who helped out with transport, managing teams and supporting. Thanks also to Malcolm who spent most breaks over the past two weeks coaching the children. I can’t believe I got the ball into the goal from a defence position. Unfortunately it didn’t count because I shot at goal from behind the corner. I was disappointed but happy I’d dribbled the ball so far. Kier I prefer to play defence but I had to mainly play as a striker because Trey, Lief and I were a good team and passed the ball quite well to each other. Hockey is my second favourite sport after football. Tarn

My Weekend—by Jayden Room 3

At Aonghus’s house we woke up early. We had to get dressed because we went outside to feed the hay to the calves. Then we went in the spa because my feet were frozen in ice in my gumboots! We played with his cars and we made paper planes. We couldn’t climb the hay baleage because it was too soft. On Monday I went to play at school with Aonghus and Iris.
