WYNDHAM GATEWAY Drawing inspiration from both the site’s context and several precedents, which all have greatly shifted the architectural discourse either by blurring the boundary between interior and exterior space, interweaving urban structure into existing ecosystem, or producing an adaptive system using the latest technologies; our proposal for the WYNDHAM GATEWAY PROJECT is a whole-site-covering structure that connects the inner to the outer space, local site to its urban adjacencies, artificial constructs to natural landscape, and slow rhythm to high speed. Environmental elements, such as rainfall and sunlight, were filtered during digital modelling and were accentuated by a sustainable structure that is permeable, self-recyclable and composed primarily of natural materials - bamboo. Traffic paths and a semi-underground café are integrated into the structure that serves as a daily commuting, relaxing and socialising space. Hence aiming to slow down the paces of passersby in contrast to the highway, it also links neighbouring areas both in terms of providing traffic routes and attracts people from the tourist districts, not to mention providing drivers entering Wyndham City with a non-glaring yet ever-dramatic visual experience as well. Both digital and physical model were studied throughout the design process as a way to experiment and understand the construction details. WYNDHAM GATEWAY

Drawing inspiration from both the site’s context and several precedents, which all have greatly shifted the architectural discourse either by blurring the boundary between interior and exterior space, interweaving urban structure into existing ecosystem, or producing an adaptive system using the latest technologies; our proposal for the WYNDHAM GATEWAY PROJECT is a whole-site-covering structure that connects the inner to the outer space, local site to its urban adjacencies, artificial constructs to natural landscape, and slow rhythm to high speed.
