St. Benedict CATHOLIC CHURCH Ascension of the Lord June 2, 2019 - Mar Lunr Hosts 8AM: Diana Knight 10AM: Unabia Family Dear Friends, Most Sundays, following our morning Masses, there is hot coffee, juice, a variety of donuts, and even bagels with cream cheese served in the school cafeteria. But it’s not about the coffee and donuts. The social time following Mass is an opportunity for gather together as members of the St. Benedict community and share the happenings of our week – to bear one another’s burdens and share each other’s joys. It’s a time to welcome new people, to gather with friends – old and new - and to grow together as the Body of Christ right here in Wallingford! Each week different individuals or families host the coffee hour, and in the past, we have not gathered during the summer. Recently, it came to my attention that this time of fellowship is very important to many people, so this summer, we are going to continue to offer coffee hours whenever a host is available. Perhaps you could sign up to help for a week or two! It’s fun, straightforward, and doesn’t take much time. Please contact Becky in the parish office if you are interested or would like more information. For those of you at the 5pm Mass, we will continue to offer fellowship after Mass on the First Sunday of every month. Let Becky know if you are interested in helping with that, too! Finally, next week is the deadline we have set to reach our 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal Goal of $63,516. If you have not yet pledged, please consider filling out a pledge card or pledging online TODAY. Information is available on our website, in the bulletin, and on the envelopes in the pews. This is an important campaign to fund the ministries of the Archdiocese of Seattle, reaching the poorest and most marginalized in our area. THANK YOU in advance for your generosity in response. Let’s continue to pray for one another,

WALLINGFORD DUMP RUN

St. Benedict parishioners have the opportunity to serve as altar servers during parish Masses. Altar servers carry theprocessional cross, hold the Roman Missal for the priest celebrant, help prepare the altar, assist the priest when hereceives the offertory gifts, wash the hands of the priest, and assist the priest celebrant during Mass. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in parish ministry and have an active role in the celebration of theMass. St. Benedict Parish youths, fifth grade and older, and adult parishioners are encouraged to join this importantministry. Altar servers must be baptized Catholics and have completed their First Holy Communion. New altar servers willattend an initial altar server training and then begin serving with guidance from more experienced altar servers. If you or your children are interested in an altar serving at St. Benedict Parish or if you have any questions about thisministry, please email Joe Fellores at [email protected] or contact the Parish Office.
