VTT is a static time delay relay which is particularly suitable for applications requiring large number of operations and consistent accuracy with little or no maintenance over long periods. It is also commonly used in industrial processes.

DescriptionAstabilisedvoltage is applied toa resistance/capacitance circuit. The potential developedacross the capcitor is applied to a transistorswitching circuit which, in turn, operates anattracted armature relay when the potentialreachesthetriggerlevel.
Thetimedelayisvariedbyalteringtheresistancevalueintheresistance/capacitancecircuitbyapotentiometer calibrated in seconds. Acircuitis incorporated to protect the transistors fromdamageduetohighpeaktransientsinthesupplyvoltage.Adiodeisalsofittedinthecircuitrytotake care of inadvertent connection of supplywithreversedpolarity.
TypeVTT11unitshaveadelayedpick-up,i.e.,timingisstartedbyclosinganinitiatingcontactandtheoutputrelay isenergisedattheendofthesettime.Theunitresetswhentheinitiatingcontactisreopened.
TypeVTT12unitshaveadelayeddrop-off,i.e.,theoutputrelayisnormallyenergised.Timingisstartedbyopeninganinitiatingcontactandtheoutputrelayisdeenergisedattheendofthesettime.Theunitresetswhentheinitiatingcontactisreclosed.

Contacts
Four pairs of self-reset contacts in anycombination of normally open or normallyclosedwithamaximumof2normallyclosedcontactsareprovidedontheoutputattractedarmature unit of VTT 11 relays. Hand resetcontacts can be provided. For VTT 12 relaysthreepairsofselfresetcontactswithmaximumof2normallyclosedcontactsareavailable.
Note
Relays with heavy duty magnetic blowoutcontactsarealsoavailableonrequest.
Operation indicator
A hand reset mechanical flag operationindicatorcanbeprovidedontheoutputrelay.

Therelaymeets therequirementsof IS-3231/IEC255-5Series-C-2kVfor1minute.
