Tyabb Air Show

Leaving Femtree Gully it appeared as though the weather might fine up as the rain was holding off. Itbegan to rain once we began down the freeway. Arving at the Tyabb Airport, the rain continued on

and off for the rest of the day with the rare spot of sunshine coming through.

Despite the weather the flying displays continued through out the day including a fly past of war birds inthe lost man formation at11 :00 am corresponding with the two minutes silence. There was also a para-

chute display with a parachutist dangling a large Australian Flag, which was rather impressive.

Much time was spent walking through the many hangars with varng displays of aircraft and associateditems. Most members depared about 3 :00 p.m. whilst the sun was out. Despite the weather a good time

was had by alL.

GILWELL PARK44th. World J.O. T.A.

Jamboree on the air. 20th-21st October 2001.

The weekend started with a 7.30am departure of three vehicles from upperFerntree Gully, Jeep & trailer, Toyota & cable trailer and my Austin 10

staff car.

We made our way up through the hills and arrived at Gilwell park atabout 8.30am, we were met by scout organisers and made welcome.

As we set up camp other club vehicles started to arrive and also the scoutgroups started to come to take part in there activities with us.

By lunch time we had a great show of club members and vehicles, somemembers made the effort and came just for the day others stayed for the

night time event's and camped over ready to start Sunday's event's.Sunday was an easy day with about six scout groups passing through our

lesson on telephones in the field, this little lesson that we give on thesescout outings are well organised between ourselves as we take it in turn to,explain communications, take the group into the bush with a field phoneand make contact with base and spell there name in phonetics, then they

get a guided tour around the vehicles. The weekend ended after we had a BBQ lunch supplied and more bushdonuts, we had badges presented to all members for there participation

over the weekend.A most enjoyable time was had by all.
