Vladislav Tretyak
Vladislav Tretyak was born April 25, 1955 in Orudievo village, Moscow region. At the age of 11, he started to play ice hockey in the CSKA youth sports school. First, he played as a forward, but as the team had no goalkeeper at the moment, he asked the coach to be
transferred to the position at the gate.
In the late 60ies the CSKA coach , Tarasov, started to invite Tretyak to train together with the CSKA main team. Being a member of the
CSKA team Tretyak 13 times won the USSR championships (1970-1973, 1975, 1977-1984) and also won the European Cups
(1970-1974, 1976, 1978-1984)
In 1970 Vladislav Tretyak started to play in the national team of USSR. As a member of the national team, he 10 times became the winner of the World Championships
(1970, 1971, 1973—1975, 1978, 1979, 1981—1983). Three times Vladislav Tretyak
became the Olympic champion (1972, 1976, 1984),
he also won the Cup of Canada in 1981 and the
Challenge Cup of 1979 (that was the tournament organized by NHL instead of its All-Stars
Match. During that tournament, NHL All-Stars Team played against the
national team of the USSR).
In 1984 Vladislav Tretyak finished his career as a hockey player. After retirement, for several years
Tretyak worked in the administration of CSKA sports club. In the early 90ies Tretyak trained
goalkeepers for the NHL team «Chicago Blackhawks».
In 2000 he entered the President Council for physical culture and sport, and three years later
was elected to the State Duma.Since 2006 Vladislav Alexandrovich is the
President of the Russian hockey Federation.
