Battelle JM-10Life Sciences Laboratrory• Bruner Corporation was contracted to facilitate and Manage the BIM Coordination Process on a SF Laboratory facility.• Bruner conducted Coordination Meetings with all trades at our office.• Coordination Issues were identified and resolved on the spot utilizing Navisworks Manage software. The ability to resolve issues immediately after they are discovered allowed us to complete coordination accurately and on schedule.• Bruner utilized a range of technology including online video Conferencing and Screen sharing software to keep all members of the project team involved at all times. Owners, and design team were available in person or by Video and Screen sharing sessions if their assistance was needed. This team included out of state Architects and Engineers, Owner and Contractor representatives.• Bruner Implemented the use of the Bruner FMS (File Management Server) to facilitate file transfer, Storage and organization, and BIM file management for the entire construction, Design, and Coordination Teams.• Bruner’s Staff ran constructability reviews and facility maintenance reviews with Owner and contractors to ensure that the entire Battelle Staff was delighted with the end results. • The BIM Model was used to extract data for our Trimble Robotic Total Station unit to locate Hangers, UG Piping, penetrations, embeds, overhead piping, and various other items.• Bruner periodically issued progress models the the entire Construction, Design, and Owner teams to ensure constant awareness of the progress taking place.

3D AS-Built ModelOn the Nationwide Insurance Chilled Water Sytem Upgrade Project, Bruner developed a BIM Model of the complete chilled water system including the existing system. The model was utilized for visualization, coordination, fabrication, and Asbuilt purposes. All submittal, O&Ms, Performance data, Partslist, vendor contact, maintence logs and warranty information were imbeded in to the final BIM Model to be handed over to the owner. Bruner then held an on site Training session with key Facilities Maintenance personell to show them how to utilize the information inside the model for maintenance, training, and future upgrades. The models are easily viewable by any personell via a free viewer that virtually anyone at any technical level can operate.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Patient Tower• Bruner was asked to take lead on the BIM coordination process on the Patient room floors 7-12 • Bruner Participated in coordination meetings on site in a BIM room. Bruner assisted in providing on the spot conflict solutions.• Bruner conducted Go-To-Meetings on site when Architects and Engineers were not available in person. Remote parties could attend meetings to ensure all aspects of the design, constructability and owner satisfaction were taken in to consideration with every conflict solution. • Bruner drove the coordination on the patient room floors while the other teams worked on other areas. The effort was to help the entire project team stay ahead of the schedule. • Bruner utilized a Trimble Robotic Total Station for locating over 2,800 sleeves and over 10,000 inserts for hangers to increase productivity and accuracy while keeping the project cost efficient.• Bruner utilized the Final BIM Coordination models to create Fabrication drawings for all sanitary, storm and chemical waste piping totaling over 132,000 feet.

Battelle Memorial Institute JM-10Co-Located Coordination Meeting

The BIM Coordination teams were all stationed together during the coordination process fostering a sense of family and teamwork. The team was able to communicate more effectively and accurately eliminating any distractions. The team was available at any time to work through critical issues that arose, saving time, and keeping on track with the tight construction schedule. Another benefit to being co-located was that it allowed the team members to become very familiar with every aspect of the project and its field team. This connection between the field and the coordination teams meant that the field was always up to date with the latest information.
