THE OFFERING

During the offering, please sign and pass the fellowship book, which is located at the end of each pew. Invitation Offertory “My Shepherd will Supply My Need” Traditional arr. Kyle Smith

My Shepherd will supply my need, Jehovah is his Name. In pastures fresh he makes me feed beside the living stream. He brings my wandering spirit back when I forsake his ways. He leads me for his mercy’s sake in paths of truth and grace. When I walk through the shades of death, thy presence is my stay. One word of thy supporting breath drives all my fears away. Thy hand, in sight of foes, doth still my table spread. My cup with blessings overflows, thine oil anoints my head. The sure provisions of my God attend me all my days, O may thy house be my abode and all my work be praise. There would I find a settled rest, while others go and come, no more a stranger or a guest, but like a child at home

*Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise God all creatures here below; Praise God for all that love has done; Creator, Christ, and Spirit One. Amen.

*Dedication *HYMN NO. 23 “There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy”

New Century Hymnal (black) IN BABILONE

*SENDING AND BLESSING POSTLUDE “March” Flor Peeters

Join us for a spirit-refreshing session to unwind the stresses of the week and energize ourselves for the week ahead. Join us for a short reading, followed by 20 minutes of silent meditation: an oasis of calm in the whirlwind of life. All ages welcome;

come as you are. Contact John Hargrave (617-816-4123) for more information. Writing to Wake the Soul Sundays to June 16 from 6-7:30 pm. Library Drawing on resources from author Karen Hering, Tracey Wood will facilitate this group exploring how written words can help us capture our experiences, truths and questions and lead us to discover “the still, small voice within.” Relying on the ancient traditions of “contemplative correspondence” which use poetry, story, images, objects, history and science as points of departure and reflection on a particular word or theme each week, we will create a correspondence with our own souls and inner truths. We will also use our writing to enter into conversation, sharing and relationship. Books and a sign-up sheet are available during Fellowship Hour. Middle School Youth Group No meeting today. High School Youth Group 7:00 pm, Youth Room For information about youth programs, contact Pam Emslie at 781.235.1988 x15 or [email protected].

Worship Conversations Please sign up at our table during Fellowship Hour Tuesday May 12 and Wednesday May 20, 6:30 pm, Village Common Our Church covenant begins with an affirmation that we are “banded together to maintain the worship of God.” Worship is at the heart of who we are. We are also currently engaged in a discernment process about the future of worship in our church and we invite you to be a part of our reflecting and visioning. Please join the Chapel Committee for a light dinner and a process of communal discernment about worship at Village Church on either or both of the dates listed above. Childcare will be available. Please Contact Susan Sullivan to RSVP ([email protected] or 508-655-3574). The Blessing Of A Skinned Knee: Using Jewish Teachings to Raise Self-Reliant Children by Wendy Mogel Wednesdays, May 13 and 20, 7:30 to 9 pm, Library, Facilitators: Kerry Evans and Erinn Staley In the midst of her career as a clinical psychologist and a mother of two young children, Wendy Mogel discovered that her faith could lead her towards the meaningful and fulfilling family life for which she was yearning. Drawing on the wisdom of the Torah, the Talmud, and important Jewish teachings, Mogel creates a framework of nine “blessings,” which are also relevant for any household of faith to help parents raise self-reliant, compassionate and ethical children.

before 10 am worship begins. The Infant/Toddler Room is located on the main floor just outside the Sanctuary to the left of the Chancel. 2 year olds through Kindergarten classrooms are located on the upper floor. Children should be picked up promptly at the conclusion of worship.

Grades 1-8 will depart the sanctuary when instructed by a pastor and meet in Village Hall.
