We acknowledge the Mouheneener People, the traditional custodians of this land on which we gather for worship.

This church seeks to be a place of safety and acceptance for all people.

Luke 14:7-14

As much as I hate reality TV, I found myself too tired or lazy (I am afraid to ad-mit which, could have been both…) to change the channel when one of these trumped up, repetitive and predictable shows came on the telly the other night. I may be too proud to admit that despite the fact that this program had all of the usual yawnful production techniques of the genre, I found myself quite captivat-ed by ‘Under Cover Boss’. Simple enough concept, the CEO of a large compa-ny goes incognito and works alongside some of the employees of the company who are much lower in the food chain. Often they discover people of genuine character who embody the values of the organization at consumer level even though they had never before met their boss. It is always an interesting exer-cise walking in another’s shoes. One which I do much less than my Lord com-mands me. Whilst some of us obsess over what con-stitutes polite table etiquette, Jesus chal-lenges us to set our banquets for those who may have never found the need for a knife and fork. The interesting thing about these under cover bosses, is that they all find a need to re-evaluate the purpose behind a life of privilege. Consequently, they often feel compelled use their position to make their employees lives better. Why?.. because, for them, it has now become personal!

Bread Tags for Wheelchairs Mission Club which operates out of Scots –Memorial UC has asked that we support their project of collecting bread tags for wheelchairs. Please save your bread bag tags and place them in the container provided at the back of the Church.

Rock Pool

At Rock Pool we have witnessed the power of prayer, both silent and spo-ken, to work in releasing goodness, healing and wholeness for people within our community and beyond.

Bronwyn and, to a lesser extent, Judith, are going to be away at times dur-ing August/ September.

We would however like the Rock Pool space to be used whether we are here or not. Please come along to our corner space on Fridays at 3, sit quietly if alone, or share with others.

Bring along your own resources to share, use the books left, sit quietly and enjoy the view giving thanks to God, and talk to God about what’s on your mind.

Pray for any situation that you are aware of, or that comes to mind.

Keys to the church are available from Scott, or you may be able to liaise with others who have an interest in quiet meditation and prayer about who might be attending.

Come along and see where the Spirit leads.

There will be a combined Skype service with Northstead Methodist Church, England, next Sunday, September 8th at 7.30pm at Scots-Memorial Church, 29 Bathurst St. All are welcome

Prayer If anyone would like prayer for yourself, others, or for any situation, please join one of the Church Council members in the Rockpool corner (near the piano) after the service. If you prefer more privacy we can go into the vestry.
