DISCOURSES- 7In our last meeting we have repeated all the thoughts of the earlier three

meetings. The bases of our study is:

A) Structure of the physical body/brain system.

B) Structure of the primary i.e. astral body / manas system, which is not

same will not coincide with the physical body / brain system.

C) There is no conscious communication between these two systems. Till

such conscious communication is established no real progress is possible.

D) Because the physical body / brain system is not systematically and

regularly and preciously refined, nor awareness methodically up graded.

E) What is meant by structure is what means in shastras as sanskaras.

F) Both structure and sanskaras have flexibility i.e. have maximum and

minimum possibilities and we call that as spectrum, this allows for a

person’s extreme bad or good conduct.

G) This structure or sanskaras are built up over a long period, by the

thinking instrument and the thinking principle.

H) The shastras and yoga sutra says that same thinking instrument and

the thinking principle can be the means of changing the structure and

sanskaras eventually help in liberation of the individual.

I) So there is no need to rush away an ashram or to the Himalayas, but all

the more it is necessary to stay here in this world and experience sansara and

live a householder’s normal life This brings us to the point of our firm

decision.:

J) a) I know and accept, but it is not easy but I will try my best. Actually

it means nothing and such persons go from one teacher to another and from

one school to another.

3

b) Since these are self imposed created limitations, only with my own efforts

they can be removed and so I will be firm and carry out all the practices as

shown.

I also know that these practices will only remove the obstacles and

hindrances which my earlier lives have created , but if I do not remove them

I shall not be my real Self for I am that self.

c) I am my real Self. If one can take a quantum jump, nothing else is needed.

We have seen the diagram of the Bubble and so it is clear to us that all this

pertaining to the outer coverings of the body/ brain systems of the

Nirmankays, Sambhogkayas, Dharmkayas.

The purpose of birth and death is to be free from all these three body / brain

systems consciously and systematically, beginning with the physical body /

brain systems.

But this action on our part must be as stated in yoga sutra book II

1 “ The yoga of action leading to the union with the Soul is fiery aspiration,

spiritual reading and devotion to Ishvara”.

Union with the Soul may be read as contact with and then guidance from

Soul within to the external body / brain system.

This calls for proper methodical practices. Please remember this very

pleasing thought that after involution i.e. once the Soul has entered the

Bubble willingly to experience and has gone down twenty-one eternities to

reach nadir, the soul has one purpose only i.e. to reach It’s Celestial Home.

For this It has to be free from all the three body /brain systems of the three

Universes viz. BHUH, BHUVAH, and SWAHA.

4

Till sub-stage IV in Bhuh on the upward arc of evolution the body / brain

system is not aware of this purpose even in this life.

Some persons become dimly conscious in this life, some have become

conscious for a life or two earlier, some have been far advanced over some

hundreds of lives and so the yoga sutras are speaking about such three or

four different types of persons.

So once the body/brain system becomes aware of this purpose and make

sincere ceaseless efforts, the Soul within is ready to help that body / brain

system and guide, but one must not only reach to a high standard of

awareness, but one must have diligently removed all the obstacles and

hindrances by following certain practices, for then only communication and

contact can be from the inner Soul who is the Gurudeva.

Once contact and communication is established the progress is rapid for the

individual. But the primary body / manas system is linked to the secondary

body / brain system at first conscious contact and communication has to be

established between these two body / brain and body /manas systems.

Kindly also note that whilst coming down during involution and on the three

and half rounds of evolution we have suffered a lot of harm and damaged

all the three body / brain systems and collected certain sanskaras.

To undo this harm and improve sanskaras it is easy in our present state to

take the quantum jump (unless for the third type of who have been

ceaselessly working for the last more than hundred lives)

So do not be anxious and also do not be depressed- for we have to sincerely

work to establish contact and communication with the Soul within and

before that to establish contact and communication with

5

primary body /manas system.

This calls for work on one’s self , hard , sincere and ceaselessly and that too

on proper lines and never to be side tracked by any short cut or use of

psychic powers. If we do, then our progress will be enormously delayed and

we shall be guilty of keeping the Soul bound within a certain body / brain

system.

I repeat again, no external God, no external temple no external religion

(whatever it may be) will help because these are good for those who have

not been aware (from within) of the purpose life and birth up to this

moment in time and will continue thus till they become aware in some future

life.

I am not against any worship or religion but the purpose is not served by any

such worship, religion or rituals.

It needs conscious and sincere work on one’s self. Read carefully 3 rd and 4th

pages of the notes of the last meeting.

Book 1 (4) This sutra says that up till now i.e. till this birth, some persons

have not been aware of their primary body /manas system and have thought

that the physical body /brain

System is everything and no efforts have been made by them to establish

communication and contact between the two systems.

Book 1 (6) This sutra tells us about the functions of the physical body / brain system, without the help of mind as a catalyst , but mind as a mind – stuff totally involved with the brain processes.

6

Book 1 (31) This sutra speaks of the consequences of the brain and mind-stuff and remaining misguided and so can not differentiate between right and wrong.

Book 1 (4) Ignorance – this ignorance is not of a primitive man or of pre historic man. This ignorance is of a person of today whose awareness is still at a low ebb even though he may be the president of America.

Civilisation is the product of a few advanced persons in various different fields and this when pooled together, the society reap the benefits. Such civilisation does not however mean that each individual or for that matter the whole society is aware of purpose of birth and death – not being aware of this purpose is ignorance – Avidya and this Avidya is the primary cause of all the other obstructions and hindrances as are enumerated in the yoga sutra.

Book II (12) This sutra clearly states that till such time in a particular life, a person is not aware of the purpose i.e. so long as the roots of ignorance-avidya exists or such time that no longer conscious efforts are being made to remove such roots of ignorance avidya, their ultimate result will be repeated births, experience and death unending.

Please also note that so long as a person does not awake to this purpose (it is immaterial if that person be good or religious) call it nature, call it GOD, call it inner Soul- brings about deliberately painful events in a person’s life (seemingly undeserved) so that the fruitlessness of a normal life be seen and the brain be directed in a proper direction. This shock treatment is very essential to one who would not come out of his or her slumber of ignorance or would not consciously and sincerely work on one’s self.

Book II (34) What happens to a person whose awareness is at low ebb and is oblivious of the purpose? However much a person pretends to be good and religious, he or she will be assailed by “thoughts contrary to yoga and will succumb time and again.

Why it is so? Because only after a person is aware of the purpose and only after the starts sincerely and conscious to begin the various practices will “ thoughts contrary to yoga “ ceases ; meaning effortlessly one is able to live

7

free from such thoughts . This will not be possible otherwise and life after life a person is assailed by such “thoughts contrary to yoga “

Such thoughts as enumerated are: Harmfulness, falsehood, theft, incontinence, and avarice.

Book IV (9) This sutra explains how thoughts are formed. Thoughts are formed when incoming impulses meet identical memory patterns stored in rear brain and two together reach the front brain and there they are worked upon by the centres I. E. S. M .

Both the incoming impulses and the identical memory patterns are soaked in past experienced emotions and so reaction of that person is according to such newly created thoughts along the old patterns.

“Effect producing cause” are the incoming impulses. The memory patterns could be very ancient and experienced somewhere else yet are being carried by a person as one’s precious possession.

THE ALPHABETS OF YOGA SUTRA

8

a) The sutra talks of an outer man i.e. body / brain system and an inner man or body / manas system (or the psychic nature). The outer man has a shape . the inner man (normally) has a shapeless form unless developed.

b) The sutra talks about calming the thinking instrument ( for it is the most important function of the body / brain system ) and talks about healing of the body / manas system ( or the psychic nature) but being more sensitive than the outer man, the inner man suffers from deep scare

As we calm the thinking instrument’s agitation, we have also to calm the agitation of the inner man or body / manas systems.

Both the outer and inner man have the same violent agitation (i) of thoughts in the outer man and (ii) emotions in the inner man. Source of emotions is the inner man. But first we must experience the inner man.

c) The sutra introduce an outer element viz ; mind but when it flows through the body / brain system, it is called in the sutra , “ the internal organ “ All other organs including brain appear as if they are outer organs compared to this “internal organ the mind “ . It is deep down inside the man’s being. This element the mind, is different from the brain and the tow should not be mixed up in our understanding.

d) The thinking instrument and the thinking principle together; when they make improper use of the element mind, it becomes the cause of suffering and bondage. But when the same together make proper use of the mind, it becomes the cause of deliverance, from suffering and liberation follows. So the same factors can lead to bondage or liberation, for mind as Infinite mind or Chittie can be enormously powerful if invoked.

e) Besides the outer and the inner man the sutra talks of the Spiritual man within. This spiritual man is called the Ishvara in the sutra. The spiritual man has no shape, form, colour, light no needs brain, manas or mind. It is ATMAN, the very essence of PARMATMA the WITNESS,

9

i.e. DIVINE FRAGMENT of DIVINE WHOLENESS. This at first is merely mental grasp.

f) Then we are told about the function of the body / brain system with proper or improper use of the element mind ; giving us two different intensities i.e. 2:4:8:2: or 5:2:2:1 .

g) Do the obstacles and hindrances created, by the improper use of the element mind prevent the body / brain system from ideally functioning and why? such obstacle and hindrances are enumerated , in the sutra that obstruct and hinder .

h) The Sutra inform us the cause of such obstacles and hindrances and we are shown how to remove these obstacles and hindrances.

i) What purpose has the element mind? In what manner can it be properly used or if misused, what are the consequences?

j) Various yoga sadhanas are shown to calm the body / brain system along with the body / manas system and use of the element mind to heal the outer as well as inner man.

k) A warning is given that these practices by themselves do not bring about illumination, but they serve to remove the obstacles and hindrances that prevent progress, just As wise farmer prepares holy soil and remove the weeds that would otherwise damage the harvest.

l) When obstacles and hindrances are removed and proper use of the element mind is made an individual know himself or herself; as he or she is in reality for up till now there was a wrong identification with outer man and his body / brain system.

m) Whenever the outer man with his breathing (which has to become rhythmic) synchronises with prana intake of the inner man (this also to be rhythmic) and both function together as one and also make proper use of the element mind, this complex human system (which is quite different from any

10

other life) is now ready to know , surrender, the Gurudeva as the sutra indicates.

n) What is proper or improper use of the element mind? The infinite mind known in shastras as CHITTIE is all pervading and all powerful.

It is the substance from which all the three universes spring up as also the all the contents of the three universes including all life and awareness.

It has Tamas Rajas and Sattva in immeasurable dimensions yet all the three qualities in abundance an any proportion i.e. permutation and combination to give results from externally wicked to extremely sublime.

But the brain and manas can do so strictly depending on the individual structure of acceptance or sanskaras and within the spectrum. Nothing more or nothing less.

Proper use leads to rhythm and balance and improper use leads to great turmoil and suffering. The individual is then described by the intensities 2 ; 4: 8 : 2 or 5 : 2 ; 2 ; 1.

o) Guidance fortunately is now available from the Ishvara who will guide individual on the higher stages of Pratyahara, Dharna , Dhayana . Samadhi. These four steps cannot be learnt from any external guru nor should any external guru presume to do this.

p) If the two i.e. body / brain and body / manas systems surrender willingly to the spiritual man within ( Ishvara the Gurudeva ) then the element mind including the Infinite mind or Chittie is not needed, it is then an obstacle to further progress because in Ishvara the Gurudeva , as the sutra says , knowledge extends in to infinite as Ishvara is the teacher of Primeval Lords but even Infinite mind is now obstacle.

q) Whenever the individual with the guidance of Ishvara has taken the last four steps, he or she acquires great psychic powers automatically. These

11

different psychic powers are enumerated in the sutra, and also explained how by Dharna on the different sensitive areas (chakras) of the psychic body /manas system, they could be acquired. Such practices are to be done strictly under the guidance of Ishvara.

r) But when these psychic powers are set aside and understood as mere obstacles to one’s real progress, one then reaches the fourth stage.

s) Ishvara guides and it become apparent to the individual that life in all the three universe is pain only. The sutra first teaches how to call upon one’s own Ishvara the Gurudeva and receive guidance for without this vital step one can not process along Pratyahara, Dharna , Dhyana , Samadhi.

t) But the sutra warn that any stage , there is the possibility of taking a wrong step or harbouring a wrong thought due to the presence of old and ancient memory patterns because memory is indestructible.

u) There for memory, all ancient and present memory one should be able to by-pass whenever needed or even permanently and one must remain in state always. Methods are shown as to how this can be done and reach and then maintain the stage as shown in diagram IIIB.

v) If memory is by-passed one can live the normal life of a householder and yet can simultaneously function on the highest plane. This is meditative attitude, or the fourth stage. It is a stage of effortless effort on the path it is ordained that one must live the life of householder and also

follow the dual path for it is the true test of enlightenment.

w) One now understands that the possession of the psychic powers is an obstacle and works consciously towards deliverance and ultimate liberation. One now looses all liking for one’s own form or for any other form in any of the three universes.

x) Now the individual is ready for conscious liberation from body/brain and also body/manas system.

y) The conviction that neither the no other the body / brain system or body / manas system nor both together is the real “ I “ is Ishvara firmly settled.

12

z) Nothing further remains to be done. One can now consciously take exist from life and birth cycles for all time disintegrating all forms.

BOOK – 1.1.1. “ OM the following instructions concerneth the science of yoga or union “

2. “This union 0r yoga is achieved through subjugation (read healing ) of the psychic nature or restraint ( read calming ) 0f Chitta “ ( read thinking instrument )

3 . When this has been accomplished , the yogi ( bread the person who now is yogi ) knows himself as is in reality .

4 . Up till now the inner man (read subtle body / manas system ) has identified himself with his forms and with their active modifications .

Today we take the first four sutras and try to understand the hidden and underlying ideas of the yoga sutra.

It is requested that once again we first read the introduction and preface b before we commence reading the yoga sutra.

Mere translation or trying to translate the root/word or verb in the sutra will defeat the very purpose of understanding today’s notes or future notes regarding the yoga sutra.

1 . So we now begin to understand the science of union or yoga (hidden beneath the yoga sutra.)

2 . In the yoga sutra , there is an official mention of the primary body / manas system and also the need to heal and calm the intense agitation of this subtle body / manas system comparatively with or to the intense agitation in the brain of the secondary or physical body / brain system , normally called or termed modification in the yoga sutra .

The entire body / manas system is far too subtle compared to the physical body / brain system and suffers from intense agitations which are only felt in the brain of the physical body / brain system.

This subtle body / manas system is also termed “psychic nature “when not properly developed is lower psychic nature. The words psych and

14

psychological are related to the astral or subtle body / manas system and have nothing to do with the SOUL .

Not only are the physical body / brain system and the body / manas system are to calmed and healed but union or between the two has to be achieved. This calls for practices.

The SOUL or Divine Fragment is clearly termed in yoga sutra as ISHVARA is the lord of the mind and such Ishvara is teacher of primeval GOD. Can such a Divine Fragment force any sadhana ?

The practices are needed for the various bodies that form the outer clothing so that these bodies may be able to recognise and then be guided by Ishvara the Gurudeva and live a balanced and rhythmic life till liberation follows them for their existence ends...

So such being the long journey , to know , develop and correct the two systems and function as one complete system and when this is accomplished one reaches the status of a yogi. The steps or stages of this long journey are – Yama- Niyama – Assana- Pranayama leading to Pratyahara which when properly established is yoga or union of these two systems functioning as one system .

Till then one is only aware of the physical body / brain system and one has falls idea of personality and use of the will.

By itself the physical body / brain system is incomplete as much as , should the primary body / manas system were to separate the physical body / brain system ( by chance or accident ) the physical body would immediately fall down unconscious.

It clearly means that the support to physical body system is the subtle body / manas system and together only they are complete system .( even if undeveloped )

15

Why is the primary body / manas system more important then another is also a support to the secondary body / brain system ? Because the internal evolution is to proceed from the gross to the subtle psychic body / mandas system and therefore it is essential to know , experience and be able to function in subtle body / manas system as well as in the subtle universe consciously.

Till we are able to do so consciously , till then the interval between death in one life and birth in the next will remain hidden and unexplained and will not be clearly known to us. This state is called the disembodied state. This therefore breaks the continuity of our awareness between one life and next life and so all religions or faiths will have to be taken for granted and followed blindly, because no proof of verification is possible by each individual.

We should be able to in our waking or sleep state function in subtle body / manas system consciously. If we are not able to do this we can forget all talks about yoga abhyasa and progress. At this early stage functioning consciously in the mental body/ buddhi system does not arises . It is the state of Maha Yogi.

In yoga language the physical body / brain system is termed Nirmankaya and the subtle body / manas system is termed Sambhogkaya. Buddha was supposed to functioning in his mental or Dharamkaya which is much more subtle than subtle body / manas system. But all these three bodies , coverings , systems and are stages of yoga abhyasa as the primary high school and then college studies are .

The reality is at the centre , the Soul , the Divine Fragment , the Ishvara the Gurudeva to function at will in any of the three developed systems. Refer creation and existence chart .

And so are the three universes related to the three body system viz. Bhuh , or physical , Bhuvah or subtle and Swah mental or yet more subtle .

All these three universes float and are developed by Chittie or Divine Mind of God and derive intelligence , awareness and life from Chittie. This enormous

16

egg of Brahma i.e. Brahmand is the Bubble i.e. Existence and is hidden in one little corner of Tapah- Divine Wholeness or Satyam Manifest.

We being physical human being we aspire to experience and function in subtle body / manas system and the subtle universe and later will aspire to experience the yet more subtler body / brain system and yet more subtle universe . So , the means to get acquainted with such systems and such universes is termed yoga and calls for serious higher practices.

“FROM DUST THOU ART

TO DUST THOU REINRNETH, WAS

NEVER SPOKEN OF THE SOUL ‘”

So when one is able to achieve this one has achieved yoga or union with these different body systems , only then one knows oneself; of as the Reality residing within , the real “ I “ , the Ishvara, the Gurudeva ,

till then it is all merely arm chair philosophy. Yoga sutra shows the way if properly understood and properly followed.

One then factually realise that the whole of existence is a Bubble and this Bubble can offer us absolutely nothing what so ever , we who are Divine Fragments and so what can this insignificant space of dust i.e./our earth can offer us ?

Yet , the only thing our great Earth can offer us and which is substantial, is the means to know , experience and realise , first hand that all this is part of the Celestial Bubble (that science is so diligently searching) and our Celestial Home is outside of the great enormous , infinite looking set of universes ; i.e. Existence and that we must in the final analysis proceed hence and leave behind consciously these from where we once in so deem past left (of our own accord ) to experience this bubble but now we have no memory it at all.

Yes, we can also leave behind us footsteps so that the coming generation can benefit , as the poet said.

Departing leave behind us footprints on the sand of time that other way word weary traveller may find and take heart again.

17

This foregoing explanation is not only necessary but makes clear the fourth sutra that the inner man is the subtle body / manas system and not Ishvara- the Gurudeva, the Soul.

But in the physical universe and in the physical body / manas system all experience is to be registered in the brain even experience of the subtle body and subtle universes to be able to knowledge and experience and so yoga practices are essential for the body / systems. Though in Zen one is told that we are born with the Buddha Nature and hence what is there to practice or to achieve! Yet firsthand knowledge that we are born with Buddha Nature and such experience is possible when the fragmentary body systems unites to become complete to experience. For this practices are necessary.

Then and only new dimension will be open to us and we shall experience first hand what religions a d philosophies cannot give or teach and such a new dimensions cannot be stated in words for it is a sublime experience for the individual by the individual.

The word yogi or master will then only be properly understood and the misunderstood idea of DARSHANA will be proved an illusion or hallucination.

The following are the list of questions submitted to me to be clarified;

1. What is the difference between the outer man and the inner man?

2. What is calming the thinking instrument and healing the psychic

nature?

3. How do we experience the inner man

4. What is the internal organ?

5. Why is it called so?

6. What is the proper and improper use of the element mind.

18

7. What is the place of the spiritual man in the scheme of things?

8. What are the functions of the body / brain system with proper and

improper use of the element mind?

9. What are the obstacles and the hindrances the prevent the body /

brain system from ideally functioning?

10. What are the causes of such obstacles and hindrances?

11. How can we remove them?

12. What purpose has the element mind?

13. In what manner can it be properly used or if misused, what are the

consequences?

14. What are the sadhanas to calm the body / brain system.

15. How can the element mind be used to heal the outer as well as the

inner man?

27-06-1991

In our last meeting of April 1991 we had taken up just first four sutras of Book 1. There we came across the word modification and which will come more often as we proceed. So what are modifications? If we cannot

19

understand modifications it is useless to go further. After understanding it , will come the mode of control. Is control possible?

Suppose there is a bucket of water. The surface of water is calm and free from any agitation. Then one drop of water falls on to the surface of water and surface is disturbed and wavelets go from centre to the circumference. This agitation caused by a drop of water to the surface of water are called agitation or modifications.

The water in the bucket by itself does not or cannot bring about these agitations. The cause is outside of the bucket of water- it strikes the bucket of water

The conscious front brain or the thinking instrument or the registration area of the thinking instrument , suppose like the surface of water in the bucket is calm and free from any agitation .One thought drops on to this calm surface it does not matter if the thought is good or otherwise and it is disturbed and causes agitations or modifications or waves on the surface of the registration area.

The surface of registration area of the thinking instrument does not by itself great agitation or modification- something must strike the registration area from outside.

These are mere mechanical comparisons. We have not taken in to consideration emotional and mental re-action factors which would require many times more than 10 seconds.

Now if a drop of water does not strike the surface of water for 5 seconds and if a thought does not strike the surface of registration are for 10 seconds both the surfaces would be calm again

This calm surface state of the thinking instrument is called concentration in the objective world, and Dharna in the subjective world. The subjective world can be known if the eyes, brain and mind can turn inward.

This inward and outward and the objective and subjective world we shall take up later. Here we are about modifications.

20

So concentration, meditation and contemplation are very much different from Dharna, Dhyana Samadhi and are neither translations nor equivalents !

So the first factor is that one more thought should not strike the surface area of the thinking instrument for the duration of 10- seconds. We have taken this 5 and 10 seconds duration arbitrarily. Can this be done? What is the process? Have we any control in this direction? Or like heart and flowing of blood and the rate of pulse , is it also beyond our voluntary control ? Clear your head before going on the path.

Now, if a drop of water were to strike the surface every second then then the surface of water in the bucket becoming calm or remaining calm is out of question. !Unexpected End of Formu.

If a thought were to strike the surface of registration are every second then this surface becoming or remaining calm is out of question.

So first and foremost we should be able to slow down the rate of thoughts striking the surface of the registration area. By natural and automatic process of selection of thoughts instead 120 thoughts striking this surface if only 10 strikes every second, then too this surface becoming calm or remaining calm is out of the question. We have so far had merely mechanical comparison between water in the bucket and thoughts in the registration area.

Life is a moving processes, constantly moving and never stopping. It is a movie camera and not a box camera for fixed pictures. To make this possible Nature has provided that one--------------- faster than the time required for the surface of registration area to become calm or remain calm. This is the Law of Nature.

How many picture frames must run per second to produce the effect of a movie on the screen? It is the same with all life.

Now if the emotional and mental reactions factor were not to be included in each thought then all life would be sitting quietly and be viewing whatever is presented and either view with interest or bored and go to sleep.

21

Action comes in because of reaction brought about by emotional and mental reactions caused by memory. What is reaction?

The great Russian scientist Pavlov experimented with a dog and a piece of meat- the mouth producing saliva etc. This is reaction caused by memory.

So before we talk about concentration meditation or Dharna- Dhyana etc., we must take in to consideration the enormous power of destruction created by past memory patterns soaked in emotions and massive rate of incoming impulses which together with memory are termed in sutra as “ Effect Producing Cause“ .

If we are at this stage not aware of the tremendously difficult task ahead of us, we will come to a stop one day soon and find that we can make no further progress and many of you will quietly retreat !

Nature has created all life with eyes, brain and self mind as 0ut-going in to the objective world. But if we can see a small or a large object, near or far clearly. But if we try with our eyes to see inward and try to see our heart or our lungs which are large objects at a very close range, we are unable to do so. WE can only imagine them. How to turn the gaze (the Eyes) inwardly is the next hurdle which when mastered one can see actually and not visualise. This is also stated in sutra. But we only imagine or visualise, then we are not actually seeing but we see images or objects and the sutra calls images as “fancy “not as fact and so are obstacles in the path.

So the talk of making the mind blank is fictitious. In sleep and even in coma a slow rate of thought is striking the registration areas, the images are there, but reaction is not noticeable, thought not absent.

What is moral of the story so far? The surface of the registration area cannot become or remain calm and steady and demands this as first minimum result! Have we come to a cross road

If we take away emotional and mental reactions possibilities (due to past memory soaked in emotions) the working of our brain could compare with tomorrow’s 9th or 10th generation computers. But memory and emotions and mental re-actions make brain and individual mind a miracle of creation.

22

Therefore the question arise whether the calming of the registration area of the thinking instrument is a voluntary or involuntary process? Besides memory is indestructible! The combination seems dreadful .

If a movie camera can slow down to appoint where very fast action can be seen clearly because the action is presented to a very slow speed, can we slow down the rate of the thought so that what is presented can be grasped clearly? It then becomes automatically a state of concentration or more correctly dhyana?

So now, if this much is possible i.e. we separate (a) the mind from brain and (b) separate incoming impulses from memory patterns, what have we achieved? In the first place can---------Achieved? Are you confused sufficiently?

If movie picture frame flow slower than slow motion you would see separate picture frame and not a movie. This would break the spell of a movie created on us and in case of ours it would break the spell of moving life around us if we can further slow down the rate of thoughts suddenly a new awareness or dimension of life will dawn on us. This experience is experienced to know or to be aware of the a, b , c , of Yoga.

What Are the silent features of today’s notes ?

1) Nature’s 1st law : The thinking instrument’s registration area should never be left free to remain calm i.e. it must remain constantly agitated.

2) 2 If it remains in agitation always; it is useless for us because we can make no progress on the path .

3) Nature’s 2nd law : There will be no direct control over the registration area nor in the flow of thoughts nor in it’s frequency.

4) We have no mind and mend our subjective nature. How ?5) For this we have to turn our gaze i.e. our eyes inward and actually see.

Can this be developed ?6) Eyes, brain and self mind are structured to be out-going by nature !7) How to slow down the thought rate (at first) to slow motion?8) Then how to slow down even further to slower than slow motion? In face

of Nature’s law can we exercise control?

23

9) Memory is indestructible. It is soaked in past experienced emotions. It is the only cause of creating automatic reflex action. It keeps the registration area in constant agitation. What is the remedy? Can it be isolated?

10) The 3rd law of Nature: states that incoming impulses with near identical memory pattern form thoughts. If they do not meet then thought cannot be formed. Can we prevent this meeting when we want?

11) Such a possibility can make memory impotent and also prevent thought formation and in a way so reduce the frequency of thought formation. At first for fraction of a moment, later for a longer duration and this can total up considerably.

12) This is possible in theory on paper. In practice is that possible? What are the practices that can help. We have to navigate and by pass Nature’s 1st 2nd and 3rd law.

Q. 1. What is the difference between outer man and inner man.

A. 1. Normally people jump to the conclusion that the outer man is the physical and the inner man is the soul. It is not as simple as that.

There is the outer man, the inner man and the spiritual man. The outer or physical or cellular or secondary. The inner, or astral or molecular or primary.

The beams and pillars of a construction form the inner and the walls and doors and windows form the outer. The outer is visible but the inner is supporting the outer and is not seen –If beams or pillars give way the outer falls to the ground.

Q.2. What is the calming the thinking instrument and healing the psychic nature?

A.2. The sutra Book 1 (2) talks of “ chit vritti nirodha “and normally it is translated as restraint or total stopping of mind modification –It does not mean that Nirodh is preventing of excess. It is not restraint or total stopping

24

for you do not use any will power to stop the modification, because that way it is just not possible.

The inner man, primary surely must be having certain influence on the thinking instrument and so before the calming of the thinking instrument we must first think of the healing of this inner man. Psychic is astral – and being far more sensitive than the physical is hurt much more and so healing of the psychic nature nature is to be included in the translation if the translator has experience of higher yoga.

Q.3. How do you experience the inner man? A.3. At first you know as and when you see a little brightness, that the sun is now going to rise. Experience follows concept if there be efforts to experience from the start of concept to knowing to experience such will be understood. With thinking instrument and inner man both in great agitation it is impossible to experience the inner man. First thing first. We calm the thinking instrument and heal the psychic nature. To this end we have corrective exercises, refining exercises, up grading of awareness and 3 SRB and phase exercises. For experience is not got free – The price is to be paid in great regularity and intense desire.

Q. 4. What is the internal organ?

A.4. The sage says “the internal organ the mind “All organs are internal but the mind is internal to the internal organs.

Infinite mind flowing through each person as individual mind is functioning as internal organ. It can function

a) As involved. b) As not involved with the conscious process of the brain. As (a) The brain remains confused in doubt and modifications are intense. As (b) The brain is quiet, is guided and brain modifications are settled.

Q.5. Why is it called so?A.5. There is no sensible definition of mind that we have come across especially in philosophy of west. Even Indian writers are not clear regarding mind and difference between Infinite and Individual mind.

25

To understand yoga, requires that we fully and properly understand what mind is ,how it function and how best we should be in communication with it.

Q.6. What is proper and improper use of the element mind?A.6. The improper use is universal. Education of any sort does not educate one in the proper use of mind. This subject of mind and proper and improper use of mind is the most important subject to understand and practice. It is a vast subject.

Q.7. What is the place of the spiritual man in the scheme of things/A.7. This spiritual man normally called ATMAN- It is vaguely understood- Every man-woman & child can pronounce this word Atman – Nobody really knows. The sutra says “ All this is for the sake of the soul.”To understand Atman is more difficult than understanding the whole Universe.Up to the stage when brain and individual mind continue to hold the stage the Atman or spiritual man remains as a ‘Witness’ .When brain and individual mind turn inward and willingly ask for guidance from the spiritual man within. It is Ishvara the Gurudeva.

Q.8. The brain function if the infinite Mind flows through the brain as individual mind. It is (individual mind) the source of energy supply to enable the brain to function. But if the brain were to function on its own it will be under doubt and fear.If brain works and individual mind gets involved in the brain processes again the result will be doubt and fear and so confusion.

But if the individual mind flows and remain as a catalyst- uninvolved- the individual mind has a capacity and power of the Infinite Mind to guide the brain and that will be proper use and earlier will be the improper use.

Q.9. What are the obstacles and hindrances?A.9. The sutra says “ the obstacles to Soul cognition are bodily disability , mental inertia, wrong questioning, carelessness, laziness, lack of dispassion,

26

erroneous perception, inability to achieve concentration, failure to hold the meditative attitude.”

The hindrances are “Avidya”, sense of personality, desire, hate and sense of attachment’.

The obstacles are personal to the individual and the hindrances are the general weakness of the human race

The obstacles being the structure of the individual are to be taken in hand first for correction.

Q.10. What are the causes of such obstacles and hindrances/A.10 WE have noted that obstacles are personal and hindrances belongs to the whole race of human beings.Obstacles arise from the structure of the individual and hindrances arise from the standard of evolution of the human race.

Since yoga is personal effort-It is an effort to correct the individual structure or sanskara that one is born with. Past memory will draw in such incoming impulses that it can play with for memory with incoming impulses create thoughts leading to action-physical –emotional or .We must break this bondage.

Q.11 How can we remove them?A.11. If the cause is every moment reinforced by past memory we must act to up-grade memory –and we must be intensely regular in our practices and every moment we must be aware of this inner involution being pushed forward and not time and again stagnate.

Q.12. What purpose has the element Mind?

27

A.12. What purpose has atmosphere to the lungs so the mind has the purpose with brain.

Q.13. In what manner can it be properly used or of misused what are the consequences.A.13. The manner in which the whole of human race uses the mind, possibility of mind in conjunction with brain, we see the horrible results both in our country and world at large. Use of mind will continue and greater and greater power to harm the results will be more awful Yoga and scientific yoga practices can save the world from falling in to ‘Hell’ so to save the Earth.

Q.14. What are the sadhanas to calm the body/brain system/A.14. The corrective exercises, the refining exercises, the 3SRB as much as possible, the phase and upgrading of awareness exercises help one to come to the threshold of yoga proper and higher practices of scientific yoga.

Q.15. How can the element be used to heal the outer and inner man/A.15. The Infinite Mind is all pervading. Whether an individual is in Bhuh-Bhuvah or Swah and so if proper use of the mind the individual mind is made it is going to be useful not only in the physical universe but also in the next universe Bhuvah.

As all higher scientific practices are with the primary body/brain system to prepare the individual such practices will help both the outer and the inner man.

(25/07/1991)If you have paid attention and studied the notes of the last meeting. You would by now feel that you know sufficiently about modifications, but there is yet much to know and understand. Have you seen a tuning fork? Have you been to school. This tuning fork is made of metal and is not electronic, nor so sensitive as the human brain. Yet if you strike it on a hard surface you will notice the fast rate

28

of agitation and giving out, some shrill sound. It comes to a state of calm after say seven seconds or more. This sound is not here at a distance. Please make a note. In the last meeting notes we had made some comparisons with a drop of water falling on a calm surface of water to a thought falling on the surface of the registration area. I find from my talks with many of you that formation of thoughts and reaction leading to action is not clearly understood.Thought is formed in rear brain and developed in the core brain (1) When incoming impulse meet identical memory pattern (rear brain) a thought is formed – as expressionless, non reactive thought is formed cognition is there because of memory - but memory is in-active which proceed to the (fore brain) i.e. the registration area of the thinking instrument. Memory is still in-active. As said earlier because by nature it is in-active though highly explosive. (2) In the registration area the fore centre I.E.S.M. bring out the latent emotions of memory pattern to full expression – like a negative that is developed into a photograph. It is at this stage that reaction takes place leading to action which can be mentor, emotional or physical. But this entire process takes 1/120 of a pulse bit. If we can remain (1) The expressionless, nonreactive state, no karma is created. – It is an ideal state for Dharna, Dhyana – Samadhi- But as per nature’s law, one (1) (2) no interference is possible and the fresh thought proceeds to the registration area. We will come to this later. Today we are taking up 2nd sutra which states : “ Through the subjugation (healing) of the psychic nature”. Till none of you may not be aware of the psychic nature (astral) because you have as yet not experienced it.

This subject takes us inward and to subjective states to which we shall come later as stated in the notes of our last meeting.

This psychic body with its brain is called manas is system like the physical body/brain system and what is more that this psychic system is primary. Whilst the body/brain system is secondary but we pay attention only to the physical system which we can do and experience.

29

Primary means many times more important, more sensitive and powerful. Together these two systems make up the complex human being. This primary system is totally in a state of intense agitation (nearly) always and can become worse and then we say he or she is in a shock which describes the worst situation. In turn this has effect on the physical system. The Yoga sutra deals with human beings, brain, mind, ----- modification, memory soaked in past emotions and blocks in the system. All these states are subject to avidaya . After making this point clear the Yoga sutra talks the methods and the practices and then warns us that these methods and practices are not the cause of transformation, but only serve to remove the obstacles, like a field farmer removes the block so that water of his own accord in the field. Thus, we remove blocks from our systems by practices so that our natural spiritual state may flow because GOD and NATURE help structured human being thus! We introduce nothing in our system from outside l, we let our system bloom from inside like bud of rose that blossom into a rose. Is this clear to you?Modification is a block, the eyes being unable to see clearly and turn a gaze inward is another block, past memory soaked in emotions that spoil every new incoming thought is another block, the constant agitation of the brain and manas and psychic nature is another block and such other blocks are to be removed by practices so that the inbuilt spiritual nature of man as he is in reality would blossom forth from within and we behold as if a new species of human being is transformed. The act of farmer removing a block to let the water flow, being a physical act can be seen but the various blocks ( known in yoga language as granthis ) though they are as much real or more real than the farmer’s stone block are not seen being subtle. If these granthis are not removed or dissolved no progress is possible and when the granthis are dissolved the natural spiritual nature of a human being flows in to every cell and he or she blossoms forth. This is the natural state, our present state is the unnatural state , just as 3SRB is the correct and natural breathing and our present breathing is unnatural and

incorrect breathing. But over a long period the wrong and the unnatural appears right and natural. If such a wonderful state is not the possibility

30

impregnated within the structure of human being , no amount of prayers, morals, study, philosophy or yoga can help. Actually nothing is transformed, only that which is there unnatural is made obvious, otherwise we remain in this sad and unnatural state for ever. When a human child is conceived and the first master cell is finally impregnated is the master cell is the future fully grown human being. Whatever that is not impregnated will never be. If only we could decipher the hidden code. When the modern scientists talk of an expanding universe from the moment of the Big Bang condition, they expect to find something new with the passage of time, the original condition just before the Big Bang being the-------------- Fire Ball the size of about thirty suns. The shastras here too say that what is not finally impregnated in the Fire Ball will never be even if the Universe were to expand foe another 15 billion years. This unique possibility which is impregnated within a human being is not to be found in any other type of life modes in the Universe hence the shastras give such a high status and privilege to be a human being, however lowly; for each human being has this possibility impregnated within ! !After striking the tuning fork you can hear the rapid vibrations or agitations and some sound. What does the sound say? When the expressionless non-reactive thought reaches the registration are, not only pictures are developed and emotions are expressed but a certain sound is thereby created depending on the intensity of thought and emotion, different waves are created in the grey matter of the brain which can be measured and the general state of the individual is noted. These waves effect the chemistry of the human body leading to various ailments. This sound prevent and obstructs the natural communication between Infinite Mind and brain and we miss the important guidance that would otherwise reach us and guide us all the time. This communication is via the primary body/manas system.

The psychic nature i.e. the primary body/manas system (The sutra calls it the inner man) which is many times more sensitive than a tuning fork takes much longer to get the agitation subside within reasonable limits.

31

These agitation also should subside, which create sound that prevent communication. So it is to be understood that both (1) the thinking instrument and (2) the primary body/manas system should be calm and noiseless to maintain communication with the Infinite Mind. How to pacify calm and actually heal the many scars that this primary system has received by now, comes within the scope of practices. The intense agitation is the another block. This complex human system is a power house if properly generated or it is a liability if not taken care of because a human being as structured by God and Nature is self evolving product, the upper limit of progress to which he or she aspire and reach is boundless and this internal evolution is entirely dependent on each individual. To be or not to be is each one’s decision ; God and Nature having fully provided for external evolution and the structure of body/brain and body/manas system have been perfected by now.In the notes of the last meeting we have stated Nature’s three fundamental laws;1) The thinking instrument’s registration area should never be left free to remain calm.2) There will be no direct control over the registration area , nor on the flow of thoughts, nor on their frequency.3) Incoming impulses with identical memory pattern form new expressionless and non re-active thoughts and when such fresh thoughts reach the registration area in the fore brain , the four creates I.E.S.M. through their functioning create reaction leading to action , physical, mental , or emotional. The built in structure of these four centres of each individual is according to the structure of acceptance formed over ages of past lives of the individual. The structure of acceptance of each individual is the strongest of all blocks. WE should now know where to begin.

IN the last and this meeting’s notes we have noted that the thinking instrument by it’s structure always remain agitated because of frequency of fresh thoughts and reaction generated in the registration area.

32

The centres I.E.S.M. depend for their inherent structure on the structure of acceptance of the individual.

We have also noted that the primary body/manas system being far more sensitive remains always in the great agitation. Thus the entire complex human system is always in great agitation and so becomes a block by itself and prevents smooth communication with the infinite mind through the self or individual mind.

Besides due to avidya, there are also many other blocks as we have already noted. Avidya means ignorance, but this ignorance is not removed by school or college education.

Hence the need of practices and techniques. But these practices and techniques work because the human complex system is so inbuilt that these practices and techniques are able to remove the blocks and the natural state of a human being starts functioning. This practices and techniques are a product of diligent research by rishis-yogis, over many centuries in the dim pare in India. Some of them are to be found in hatha yoga shastrs, some in swarnadi shastra and some are given by word of mouth from teacher to disciple.

So the main step to be taken is to remove granthis or blocks the rest just happens! WE cannot work for moksha nor for transformation because it is all with us already.

These blocks prevents our natural and proper conditions from flowing within us. There is nothing to be achieved. Our minds must be clear on this issue.

(29-08-1991)To recapitulate:Before we begin, let us trace the the lay out of the Yoga sutra of SAGE PATANJALI: 1) First they begin with the key. This key has been is elaborated in our notes of june and july.

33

2) Then reach for the closed doors, because key presupposes opening of the closed doors. 3) Then comes the road signs, so that we can direct our footsteps towards the closed doors. When we reach the closed doors we read only words; viz. – avidya, i.e. we are in the land of avidya – The land of avidya is The Celestial Bubble i.e. existence (refer chart).4) Finally on reaching the closed doors we apply the key and the doors open. What do we find or rather what happens then?

We find and realise that we are the Divine Fragments and in some deem forgotten past we had willingly stepped out of these very doors to experience the celestial Bubble i.e. Existence. Realising our true SELF now, we need no body, brain/mind/senses etc., and we leave behind all these and enter through the same doors our CELESTIAL HOME. – i.e. CREATION.On realising that we are Divine Fragments We are also realise Super Powers – but now, who needs anything?! We can now willingly again enter the Celestial Bubble i.e. Existence like Budhha and Christ or merge into Divine Wholeness. This is short is message of Yoga Sutra.

1) Earlier we had noted, how the surface of water can be disturbed and time taken to come to rest.2) Then we notice how a tuning fork is disturbed and it take longer time to come to rest.3) Then we noted how the surface of thinking instrument if disturbed takes yet longer time to come to rest.4) And finally our psychic nature i.e. our psychic body/manas system is disturbed immensely long duration to come to rest.

Further we also noted that in case of (1) & (2) time may allow the surface to come to rest again but in case of (3) & (4) Nature’s law does not allow the respective surface to come to rest at all! This is nearly an un surmountable obstacles and a hindrance in the path of the individual and in the case of the race of the mankind.

Beside this, in all cases(1) (2) (3) & (4) whenever surfaces are disturbed they create sound - faint or loud depending on the surface. It may not harmful as

34

it produces or rather breaks or destroy the possibility of continuous communication with Chittie or Infinite Mind.

The first four sutras form the key to understanding the sutras. A key presupposes closed doors and so the key can open the closed doors. But to find the closed doors we must know the road leading to the closed doors.

So now we come to road-signs following which we shall reach the closed doors. Today’s notes are to be read in conjunction with the notes of June & July.

Book I (8). We gather knowledge through our brain, as we lift stones, to be that much unwanted load! This sutra gives an example but it means that we have failed in establishing communication with Infinite Mind.

Book I (9). This sutra draws our attention to our great weakness - that we are never in present but oscillate in past and future (brooding & day-dreaming) and we are with images and not facts.

Book I (30). This sutra needs no further clarification and to avidya.

Book I (31) This sutra describes the state of an individual grip of avidya.

Book II (3) Hindrances and obstacles arise out of avidya.

Book II (4) This sutra is continuation of (3) above. Book (5) This sutra gives an example but means that human life is lived by knowledge gathered by the brain (as stones gathered) and not by guidance of Infinite Mind.

Book II (17). This sutra makes it clear once again that brain is neither the perceiver nor can it guide correctly and assume that it is the perceiver and is able to guide creates confusion, which in turn makes one experience pain – needlessly.

Book II (23 &24) At alter stage when some clarity dawns on an individual - individual mind as well as Infinite Mind have their limitation and one should go beyond is realised.

35

Book II (33). Like book I (30) & (31) now are enumerated obstacles (earlier they were hindrances) and like hindrances, obstacles are also a result of avidya.

Book II (34). This sutra describes an individual in grip of avidya.

Book III (15). This is a law of Nature. However much one may study or read, the place on the ladder of inner evolution will ultimately decide the state of the thinking instrument and the psychic nature.

Book IV (4). The ‘I am” consciousness (awareness). This is the place on the ladder of inner evolution and besides the thinking instrument and psychic nature, every organ, nerve, muscles, and centres will also have the same structure and combination of qualities which in turn will force an individual to act accordingly.

Book IV (5) All in existence work through awareness, life and memory. Awareness includes life and memory. Consciousness is Divine Fragment. It is one - but can assume millions of forms or outer coverings in Existence. Bhuh – Bhuvaha - Swaha.

(9) This sutra if not properly understood, nothing will be clear in future - however much one may read or hear. Here is shown the process of thought formation for human being.

Memory is held in the sub-conscious part of the rear brain. This memory is different from mechanical, chemical and/or electro-magnetic. It is even different from sanskaras and is able to fulfil destiny, Sanskaras = Structure of acceptance.

30,000 impulses (as per science) enter the human frame per second and of these 120 per second reach the thinking instrument, part of the brain via. the sub-conscious brain. Here identical memory soaked in past experience of the individual meet the selected incoming impulses. Such selected incoming impulses are referred to as “effect producing cause. “

36

Our reaction and action due to this make us in a particular manner and this in turn from our future sanskara. What this sutra emphatically states is that even if one runs away from normal life to the Himalayas or to an ashram or even if one is born in a different galaxy, it matters not and even after a long period of time - for anywhere in the entire universe those impulses will reach and identical memory patterns one will have to face - and the required result will follow.

The ignorance of this fact is to be removed and needful must be done regarding sanskara. This is the second main obstacle and/or hindrance for individual or the race. The three universes from the land of avidya.

(10) Our journey starting with Svaha, Bhuvah, Bhu in involution and our going back home or evolution over eternities and so each from is mind created due to sanskara held in the sub conscious and are without known beginning. (11) Earlier (9 & 10) have said much. How to break this eternal chain is what is indicated here. (9 & 10) create and hold together and repeat mainly because external objects keep attracting. This chain can break (or is destroyed) only if one can develop the technique of inward perception - not visualising.

(12) Because of (9 & 10) have our past and our present and accordingly will have our future and this is no illusion. But as stated in (9.10.11) the past has given present form and capacity and our conscious effort will create our future form and capacity - sanskara held in the un conscious part of the rear brain and are stated as developed characteristics that are like latent seeds to sprout and grow in future. This chain is to be destroyed consciously by unceasing efforts. All these in other words amount to blocks in our body/brain system.

(27) This is the warning as the last sutra among the pointer or road signs sutras. As one consciously changes and work hard to remove the blocks - it can happen that once again the brain and senses may like to wander uncontrolled and go out – ward.

If one were to follow these road - signs correctly one may come to the closed doors.

37

If one has understood the key one can then apply the key - if all circumstances are proper and if one is accepted - the key will turn and door will open – why? because only mental grasp as key - is not accepted.

DECEMBER 1991We have noted in earlier notes that all our religions and philosophies are woven around and are exclusively for this gross outward covering and brain that is hiding the “real you” or the Divine Fragment. They are concerned it seems even with the subtle coverings besides this gross one.

38

WE have also noted that this gross covering is very intelligent and seems to function by itself (though this is a false claim) and what is more it can accumulate knowledge and pretend to be very wise and all knowing and therefore all religions and all the philosophies try to trace its past, its present and its future and talks in terms of sin or karma and heaven or moksha. But this is futile exercise indeed.

We think that it is not worthwhile to waste time and go along the path i.e. the line adopted by religions and philosophies because this gross covering is to be done away with the earlier the better. But not by way of suicide. Natural death and suicide both amount to unconscious exist from life, but it must be a conscious dropping away of the outer coverings.

On the other hand it is more proper to know the techniques and method that show us how to do away with this gross covering so that our next step would be to take in hand the subtle and the yet more subtle coverings and in turn to do away with them also the earlier the better.

But unfortunately there are many schools and so called masters who show Tantrik practices of using the great possibilities of the senses of these subtle and yet more subtle bodies there firmly establishing both themselves and their followers in this mithya knowledge of coverings. To do away means once and for all time to be free from physical births and later to be free from the subtle and yet subtle body births because as long as the subtlest covering persist we cannot be free from repeated births and deaths, neither is the ‘real you’ or Divine Fragment free to function by itself because then only is real moksha attained.

In the same manner the three universes are also mere coverings of greater lives as compared to finite human beings and hence all type of coverings are considered by the shastras as unreal hiding “real you“ the Divine Fragments.

The science that searches for and studies these trillions upon trillions of such coverings in the universe (hiding higher lives) that makes up this vast

39

universe, which is either expanding or contracting and which according to the scientist’s calculations has been in existence for 15 or 16 billion years and about whose future and death is theorised as “thermal death“ is so much “mithya“ knowledge, because such knowledge does not help in our daily living when obstacles and hindrances make us go the wrong way or when depression and brooding crush and make us helpless and when our wandering mind does not let us even pray or be engaged some constructive work!

However this outer coverings act as real ‘you’ and pretending thus calls itself ‘I’. This is avidya meaning calling the false and pretending ‘you’ as ‘I’ and from which we must work to be free. But mere mental conception or mere parrot like repetition of this thought is not enough.

One must experience the separation of this “false you“ and science consider it as so much spiritual fiction.

Book II (24) “The cause of this association is avidya or ignorance. This has to be overcome.

”Book II (25). “When this ignorance is brought to an end through non -association with the things perceived, this is the great liberation. Since this covering is not the ‘real you’ what can we do to improve it? Hardly much (sutra 27) the cultivation of habit however, the mind will reflect other mental impression and perceive objects of sense perception”.

The approach to this eternal problems of the covering is approached from wrong direction by all religions and philosophies. The emphasis on what is wrong and wrong doing, and how to avoid it and its consequences.

Here you will notice in the yoga sutra that the approach is totally different and does not remain a philosophy but gives practical lessons that help one to cross over. The emphasis is much less on commission but is more on healing, refining and up - grading. Why?

40

Book IV ( 31). “When the removal of the hindrances and purification of all the sheets (coverings) the totality of all knowledge becomes available; nought further remains for the man to do.”

How do hindrances and obstacles arise? Why are they so persistent? Why are sadhanas necessary or a lifelong bhakti necessary?

It is one word only – memory and memory at three stages – past - present and future; co-inciting into a ‘now’, always at each point in time. If total memory is exiled or frozen, it gives the word of all knowledge and available - not gathered! Note the word used are “frozen” or ‘exiled’ not lost in case of memory.

What is internal purification? It is as great task as deflecting a river from its course and make it flow into another well defined and useful course.

It means to make dormant the existing and working animal centres to make active existing but dormant human centres so that the covering by itself (and not by control) withers and die because being intelligent will work for its own total annihilation; once it realise that it obstruct the ‘real you’. Then one longs to die and not be born again.

How does totality of all knowledge become available? As long as the covering function so long only mithya knowledge will be gathered because till then memory is active.

Book I (3). “When this has been accomplished the yogi knows himself as he is in reality”.If now one is ready and determined to go ahead progressively – this progress will depend on the intensity of efforts. The yoga sutra teaches (1) what to do with memory, (2) how to remove hindrances and obstacles, (3) how to make dormant human centres active and make dormant the active animal centres and much more. Such practical and constructive guidance is found only in yoga sutras of Saga Patanjali. The Upanishads and the Geeta form exhilarating and profoundly spiritual

41

philosophy but when “the spirit is willing but the flesh is week “, one has to take help of the sutras. Normally we think of memory as something that happened in the past and our remembrance of the same. We have not been told of memory that is present and also that is future and co - inciding in a ‘Now’ at each point in time today and also in the future. This is the most powerful effect of memory. It makes life meaningful, i.e. this action of memory prevents us from being a vegetable but it demands also its “pound flesh.”Suppose you sit in prayer or japa - suddenly some thoughts enter your conscious brain and you are lost in a chain of events, that leave you angry because the japa or prayer was only mechanical or had stopped completely. There is no reason for such thoughts to come in that we can explain. Memory at random does not come in our thinking. There are two reasons (1) incoming impulses and (2) the point in time and incoming impulses are guided by the point in time. When in prayer or japa incoming impulses are normally kept out i.e. they pass the conscious brain without impression but the point in time - i.e. at that point in your present life and similar point in life in an earlier life if your thoughts were along a certain lines, such thoughts will pass at the present point in time. That is why we need many lives to eradicate such point in time of the past. For this two methods are followed (1) to free as memory (2) to exile memory. The diagram IIIb shows how memory is deeply frozen so that even incoming impulses are prevented from entering the system. It may be argued that those who do not receive help from the sutras, are they lost? Not lost, but to find a way is a hundred times or more difficult, because such practical guidance only shortens the road. This path is very long and can be measured in the light years, because we have to be born in different places in the Universe and not only on this Earth. God and Nature make available all help that a sincere student need anywhere in the Universe. And as all the hindrances and obstacles depend on memory they will fall away and disappear if we take care of memory but not otherwise. Therefore such sadhana or practice is necessary that takes care of memory. Memory is by nature indestructible, i.e. millions of years cannot obliterate memory - it is only filed improperly - and so seems to be forgotten or difficult to recall.

For the present we shall end with the following lines:

First stage“ The slow process of a material mind

Which serve the body it should role and useAnd need to lean upon an earring sense.”

Second stage“He knew matter pregnant with spiritual sense,

Mind dare the study of the knowledge. He read from within the text of the without”.

Book II (44). “ Spiritual reading results in contact with Soul.( Divine Fragment )

Third stage“This too must now be over passed and left,

As all must be, until the highest is gainedTill that is reached, our journey cannot cease”

The sutra says Book II (51) There is a fourth stage which transcends, those dealing with the internal and external phases.

Fourth stage“ After the anguish of the soul’s long strife

At length were found calm and celestial rest,Immortality captured Time and carried life. “

( One reaches there )

January - February 1992

In the concluding notes of December 1991, we have some very important points that we must properly understand.

Following are the points to be noted and understood :-

43

(1) How can we free from the outer covering, First from physical or cellular, then from astral or molecular, and then from the mental or atomic/electronic body.

(2) That this has to be done, to know, to be aware of or to experience the “real you”, the Divine Fragment and this subjective experience to be firmly registered in the brain to be knowledge.

(3) That the objective universe , there are infinite numbers of advanced entities and not mere globes of light or dark matter and this too is to be experienced and registered and how we can communicate with them is also to be learnt.

(4) That we only appreciate the outer coverings and think that all else is more spiritual fiction. This has to be made turned into fact.

(5) That the religions and philosophies talk about the outer coverings but the method or technique to get rid of the coverings is not shown.

(6) Yoga sutra shows this very clearly in regard to all the three coverings.

(7) These outer coverings create obstacles and hindrances prevent totality of knowledge, i.e. wisdom which is our natural state. In its place we only tediously gather knowledge which is mithya! It is same with our natural rhythmic breathing.

(8) The life in the objective world is memory, but memory is like a space is three dimensional, past, present and future into a single ‘Now’, the point in time. We must understand this point in time to be aware of the multi - dimensional of space time.

(9) This memory is very necessary in the objective world, but acts as a wall and prevent subjective experience.

44

(10) Our objective experience is distorted view of our objective world within. This by experience is to be proved for ourselves.

(11) This subjective world is inside us and the objective world is outside of us. But as our senses especially our eyes the instrument of vision false or true; are out going and so we are inclined to see and believe the outside or objective world totally failing to realise (and even totally disbelieve) that real existence is inside of us and we see the topsy turvy objective existence. All this is as philosophy is useless; only experience can give conviction. (12) So it is necessary at first , to exile memory (3B) and later to so deeply freeze memory (3C), that incoming impulses ceases to enter and register themselves and are unable with memory to create nonstop, unceasing, river of thoughts concerning the objective world and prevent us from going deeper within our own self.

(13) This stage is the fourth stage, totally different from waking, sleep and dream the three subjective states and is to be experienced.

(14) All this enable us to experience the unified field of Nature, first subjectively and objectively . Science will never be able to experience, it can only write equations.

(15) This means that from the point of our broken and surface awareness we must reach out to unbroken and deep awareness.

(16) Unbroken and deep awareness, i.e. pure awareness is the awareness of Infinite Divine Mind and it means to be aware always in all conditions, in sleep and more importantly in death and between the moment of next birth in the next life and also during the intervening period. This is the main purpose of life and birth. All else is mithya knowledge.

(17) This is possible only when in any one objective life (whether it be this or any subsequent life) we learn the techniques of linking our individual

45

mind and brain to the infinite mind and experience the subjective and there by the objective existence.

(18) This also the yoga sutra teach clearly. Hence the necessity of studying properly the yoga sutras.

So let us today at first see the power of mind and brain under scientific medical conditions though physics as science does not accept the presence of mind or even the Infinite Divine Mind.

Let us consider the effect of a placebo given to a patient who will respond effectively because he or she is told that the drug or medicine will be very effective by the doctor in whom he or she has faith. The placebo may be just glucose water.

On the other hand consider the effect of a ‘Nacebo’ given to a patient, who consider all drugs and medicines or any type of treatment as injurious to the body, will have or shown all negative signs even though treatment is just proper.

What is reality working, the drug or the mind power of these two patients? So depressed people lower their immune response and even weaken their ‘DNA’s ability to repair the body. Anything can therefore function as a Placebo or Nacebo. The doctor’s personality, his manners, the environment around the patient and the patient’s mind all go to work for better or worse.

The cause of disease is everywhere i.e. is Holistic. A holistic disease requires a holistic medicine. Holistic simply means an approach that includes not only the body, but also the mind and the environment.

Therefore let us not “being sick” be the dominant input in your mind’s computer. Holistic approach leads the mind to the free zone, not touched by disease. But unless the patient knows that such a zone of deep silence the free zone exist, the disease has the upper hand.

46

Note; A disease cannot take hold without the patient accepting. This is the basis of the understanding of the working of the immune system. Medical science today is pinning all hopes into it ! Will the system work or the mind of the patient is questioned ! ?’Health is a dynamic equilibrium of the total bodily energies. It is a state when one feels ‘EASE’. A disturbance of this ‘EASE’ leads to DISEASE. Healing is a process of returning this EASE that is disturbed.Note: What is poison in modern medical science, is cure in Homeopathy!? How can these two system responds when the body/mind (brain) balancer is restored. The immune cells themselves do not judge whether the doctor believes in modern science or Homeopathy Or Acupuncture!? Every system is capable of working so long as it is able to influence the patient’s participation or awareness to disease. So actually what is working ? In the final analysis the patient’s mind.Note: Kittens are born with their eyes shut and their optic nerve undeveloped and this lasts for a few days. During this period they occasionally open and shut their eyes and this may even be painful. They yet see or register nothing. But if a kitten is blindfolded or it does not occasionally keep opening and shutting the eyes, during these few days, it is found that it will be blind for entire life. You will ask, Is mere opening and closing so important?

The experience of seeing during this period actually shapes inner neuronal connections in the brain developing the brain centres of vision and so sight is possible. The kitten’s brain is programmed for sight, yet it requires seeing during this period for the programming to unfold!!?

When a human baby is born, it can see, but we encourage it to sleep twenty hours a day. The human brain like the brain of the kitten can or could thus limit its possibilities in the same way? Can the infant be encouraged towards subjectivity which during growth is never encouraged? Objectivity is to be developed with care!

Dr. P.S. Kameswari Rao says, Before the advent of the theory of Reality, time, space, matter and energy were considered as separate compartments of a

47

reality. After Dr. Albert Einstein published the equation this view had to change because it is now proved that matter can be transformed in to huge amount of energy in his unified field theory. It means that things that appear to be totally different can be transformed in to each other at deeper levels of Nature. What about the deeper levels of human beings?!.

Thousands of years ago the ancient Seers and Rishi of India also worked on the question of whether Nature is ultimately unified or not. They analysed from a subjective view point unlike in the west and choose to solve the problem in the most practical way.

Objective awareness: Time, space, matter and energy.

Subjective awareness: Waking, dreams, sleep, 4th turiya.

But both can lead to further steps, viz. Silence and then the final step, viz. the unified field state. But it is more difficult the objective way. The subjective way is the higher practices of yoga!.

So there are two ways of looking at the world.

(1) Objective view, seeing time, space, energy, and matter as existing outside us!?(2) The subjective view, that everything is within us and arise out of our own awareness and the world as seen outside is only a projection from within!?

No—You do not agree! What happens in deep sleep? The total outside world does not exist for you, even the bed in which you sleep does not exist; but this negative subjectivity - subjectivity of ignorance and not of knowledge and wisdom which is the final step.

When we pay attention to something, it means that we are shifting from passive to active awareness. Attention exerts a far higher influence than we ordinarily realise. We are all victim of passive awareness. (Education for attention) And if the attention be of grade of dharna or dhyana or Samadhi?!

48

One of the surprising finding in Hypnosis Research is that subjects can make their hands warm or cold or raise rashes on their skin in a matter of few minutes. Subjects hooked on to bio-feedback machines can do also similar things. The point is the power of one’s own attention to body, creating, controlling and transforming their own body. Let this thought sink deep into your awareness.

When the body is in pain, a distorted area of our awareness is crying out to the rest of the body awareness for help. An injury heals because the inner intelligence goes to work on it.

We normally refer our awareness as our mind. But science cannot find it, neither psychology could find and proper object for study and experimentation.

William James a medical research man and a philosopher from Harward asserted that all the thoughts, emotions, desires and impressions that pass through the mind are proper objects for study. He called them “beam of consciousness.” we have called a river of thoughts.

The stream of awareness is not merely thoughts floating down the river. It must be noted (and this is a very important point not brought out so far in our notes) that in between two successive thoughts there is a ‘GAP’ of silence which is tiny and unnoticeable. Naturally, because the rate of thoughts being 120 per pulse beat a ’GAP’ between two successive thoughts would be impossible to see.

But the ‘GAP’ is always there as a necessary component of the stream. To put in another way there is always silence and the thoughts disturb this silence but the frequency of thoughts it will be always there. This silence is the silence of the silence area, which is always there, which we will be never able to know, feel or experience if this stream of thought continue to flow non-stop. But we are doing nothing about it. Do you realise that even prayer and japa disturb this silence?!. Yoga deals with this aspect.

49

Modern psychology being completely oriented to the contents of the mind and the mechanism of the brain, ignores this ‘GAP’ as something non tangible and of no significance. Perhaps they are totally unaware.

Actually this ‘GAP’ is the main Reality to what lies behind our thoughts and emotions. It will enable us to have a glimpses into the world of Reality, a world actually existing inside us and yet obscurely of reach!?

In Mandukya Upnishad, is the story of two birds sitting on the same branch of the tree, one bird is eating the fruits while the other silently looks on. The bird that is the silent witness stands for the deep silence behind our thoughts.

It is the source of all our intelligence and awareness. Only it is alive, not we, and when it departs, we are alive no more!? Everything that is experienced on the surface of life (that is exhilarating) all rise from this deep level and float. To be aware of this truly and not only theoretically — is Grace.

A person normally at a particular time is either, waking, dreaming or in sleep state, the three subjective states of awareness. Whatever he or she (so called) reality. But a tiger in the dream state is not a tiger in the forest. It is entirely the different law. So the laws of sleep state must be distinct from those of waking state and if we can normally call our earth life itself a dream state, the laws of actual awake state would be or ought to be so very different.

The unified field exists in the real world. It cannot be experienced in the Bubble on the objective level. It is also not a mental concept or a mathematical equation, but an experience! This is the difference between the work of such ancient seers and our modern day scientists. The yoga sutra makes possible to experience firsthand for those who would one pointedly continue and not count the number of years passed in such practices. The reward is experiencing the Reality.

The unified field as all together a different state of awareness which the seer call “Turiya“ or the fourth state to denote that it is not part of the three states of waking, sleep and dreaming, but an actual real state. It is also

50

referred to as “para” or beyond state, meaning that it transcends the ordinary experience of the three states.

It was concluded by the Seers and Rishis of India that this fourth state actually exists everywhere, but is hidden by or distorted by the three states as if by a screen, light or heavy depending on the individual’s progress. This fourth state can be experienced only after the mind/brain transcends its normal activity.

Yoga is the special discipline devoted to this purpose leading to pure meditation that dhyana (and not what passes for meditation) and other practices and techniques. He was not only a yogi, He was also a physician. His system (given by word of mouth) deals with the study of the mind, its functioning and control.

The word yogi or Rishi, stands for a person who has learnt to enter at will this fourth state and experience whatever is there. It is not a process of thinking, but a phenomenon or immediate and non - verbal experience.

The Rishi and Yogis were also capable of, as we are, in the objective approach of diving Nature in to time, space, matter and energy; but they chose the subjective approach to understand and cross this ‘GAP’ and enter the silent area, where thinking cannot reach! It is like seeing the objective world from a subjective view point. Only after such repeated experience by many Rishis and Yogis that this Universe or rather the entire Bhramananda was called the BUBBLE. Study of this diagram is important.

Veda represents an immense expansion of the human mind. It is the total content of the Cosmic Computer. All the input on Nature is channelled into it and out of it flow all the natural phenomenon. The control of this computer is located in the human brain.

But brain as an object or an organ is not important!? According to Rishis and Yogis, it is important because, on our objective level it alone can translate

51

our subjective experiences, because without it’s such ability of operation or process, we remain unaware of our experience on the subjective levels.

When an image falls on a mirror, what takes place? The mirror is the reflection and reflection is the mirror, and in the same way the Realty or our objective experience is mirror in the brain. All that exists is therefore inside our mind, i.e. behind our objectivity.

Objectivity by itself is not the reliable way of knowing; particularly when we investigate deeper than Natures surface !?.

Subjectivity can be narrow or expanded. When attention is paid to an isolated object, one channel out of innumerable ones, is selected and the rest is excluded and the level of awareness thus varies. But it is normally presumed that we have not more than three channels and how could this be possible!! The visible universe is small version of the original existence.

But through expanded awareness or as we have mentioned earlier, pure awareness, the limitless Reality that is lost to us otherwise, is made available. This pure awareness is Chittie or Infinite Mind.

Many things do not exist for us not because they are not there but because our inside we have not shaped our brain to perceive them. We live by three channels only waking, dream and sleep. We can know that the fourth state exists; unless our nervous system is prepared for it.

When we lose touch with our pure awareness and get content with our surface and localised awareness we become what we have to become. It is said “ In the place of vedic consciousness, India is left with only vedic books.”

Long degeneration of Indian wisdom gave rise to the misunderstanding that “life is to be lived in an ashram on the basis of detachment and sacrifice” as the only way to guide people towards pure awareness. This is a false view.

The whole purpose of transcendence is to expand the mind limitlessly (i.e. to open all innumerable channels). But we are content with our individual mind and forget that it is in fact a part of the Infinite Divine Mind that sustains all the three universes !?

52

If subjectively expands, then its reflection the visible world must also expand with it. There is no need to sacrifice objective activity and worldly values. The truth is the mind always wants to seek the Fourth state and will find it someday if left to its natural tendencies and we can give it some help by certain techniques. Yoga discipline and true dhyana are valuable to turn the mind in the right direction.

Note :- Thoughts are like ocean waves rising and falling. The waves only see their own motion and are aware that they are waves. (Surface awareness) and pronounce ‘I’. But the obvious large truth is “I am the ocean“ and it is no exaggeration in the least. Actually there is no separation whatsoever between wave and ocean ; but only the wave settles down, it instantly recognises its source - the ocean, which is Infinite, unchanging and silent and was always there; it has not just happened for the wave.

The brain/mind (like the wave) is all activity. When it do thinking, it becomes a wave and say “I am the wave“ When it stops the activity of thinking it returns to its own source, viz. The Infinite, unchanging and silent. It is then that brain/mind touch pure awareness and find all the wisdom.

The idea is transcendence, going beyond true dhyana. This is a state when all manifestations of mind/brain ceases to identify (that I am a wave) and begin to identify with ocean. This mental process can be deep or shallow.

To deep dive means to reach the hidden blue print of intelligence in some of silence and be able to influence.

Only then the thought process is slow enough, (i.e. strong enough) to change Nature and influence disease. When thought process is normally weak, (i.e. ceaseless) it triggers only the appropriate mechanisms.

The question is whether yoga discipline can radically change and improve the thought power?! The answer is, it does not induce a profound change !?

Something in the realm of silence our Reality and our views regarding Reality and we project the same in life we live.

53

PAST PRESENT FUTURENo. ( the point in time )

What is this point in time? Refer CREATION. EXISTENCE chart.

Note the three permanent seed atoms, physical, astral, and mental. Receiving and transmitting ceaselessly. At present we are concerned with the physical.

Similar seed atoms are implanted in the brain fresh at each birth. (refer diagram) receiving and transmitting ceaselessly. At present we are concerned with the physical.

What is the speed of such transmissions? Here nothing is moving. No message is sent or received in the sense that in the objective world we send and receive messages.

The Infinite Divine Mind is the medium and the individual mind is the catalyst that puts brain and Infinite Divine Mind in contact and Infinite Divine Mind gives instant contact between a permanent seed atom (in Mahakal) and an implanted seed atom in human brain . This process goes on automatically. Refer intensity chart.

How to work this process consciously? Note that what is stored in the permanent atom and what is transmitted to the implanted atom in a human brain is memory only. Memory is nearly indestructible. Memory is ultimately the bases of sanskaras. This only reincarnates. For this memory to reincarnate a body/brain system is necessary. Hence human birth and deaths.

Till such time one learns and is able to work this process consciously, memory is neither exiled nor deeply frozen. Finally one day it is to be disintegrated by use of para nada.

To these two types of atoms there is no past and present and future because based in past and present is the future worked out and proper bodies are woven and events takes place.

26-03-1992

From our notes of Jan/Feb 1992, 0n page 2 we refer (12) which talks about slowing down thought formation. To achieve this there is an external artificial method. Such a method is non - structural because the individual does nothing to bring it about. Modern day scientific instruments are able to

55

reduce the brain cycles, which indicate the rate of flowing river of thoughts; in other words when cycles reduce the rate at which thought normally form and flow.

By such artificial means thoughts rate is reduced in three further stages from the one normally existing.

Normally the human brain generates Beta cycles waves. The other three are generated by (a) as stated above by external help and (b) are generated by individual consciously as per Yoga Abhyasa, more as per Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali.

(a) Is called non-structured, non-disciplined because even after generating them, they do not form the structure of the individual and soon will evaporate.

(b) Is called structured and disciplined, because when generated by the individual consciously, form the structure of an individual, ands remains with the individual.

We should now begin systematically. Scientific Yoga practices mean that if the same techniques and practices are followed by ten persons, each must get the same result.

Besides this Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali are scientific because modern scientific progress confirms what was expressed ages ago by Sage Patanjali.

The body/brain system is pain because it is the seat of pain. The senses, objects and preceptors lead to suffering. Even, pleasure is pain because it follows by pain.

The three principal causes or source of suffering are (1) physical (2) emotional/mental and (3) cosmic or heavenly. So a human being is not only anxious but is engaged in getting rid of pain and escape from suffering. The methods he may follow may or may not be correct.

56

The mere fact of existing in time, i.e. have a term of life, implies suffering. In contrast to other living being including Gods, man alone has the possibility of rising above his position and abolish suffering.

This is a certainty of a means of putting an end to suffering. One is not left to despair and pessimism. Total liberation from all suffering is the basis of Yoga Abhyasa and in particular Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali. His system deals with brain/mind system, its function and its control.

Yoga is structured and disciplined conditioning of the body/brain system involving time and labour which discourage many people. When the organs and glands of the body diseased there is a chance in the vibratory state, viz. Resonance of the tissues, resulting in disturbance in the total body / brain energy levels.

Cells in the living body posses great sensitivity and selectivity to specific magnetic and electro-magnetic fields. Living cells require very minute quantities of energy.

Energy system of the body can be activated and balanced from external (as well as internal) sources. Energy transfer can take place according to the laws of resonance. Resonance is an energy exchange between two bodies when their vibratory fields are of the very same frequency range.

Based on this important law of resonance the energy field of the physical body is brought to the level of energy field of the astral body or molecular body for transfer of light energy from the astral or molecular body to the physical body by maintaining a rhythm and constant speed of breath intake the astral or molecular body by the help of 3SRB.

Prana is an ancient word meaning higher types of energies and as a prana is of seven grades, it means many types of higher energies and which could be circulated in the physical as well in the molecular body. But too higher energy (external) therapies or (internal) practices are disruptive and harmful. Cerebral energy levels play an important role in the

57

maintenance of the total body/brain energy levels. When the brain’s energy level is low or when the cerebral hemispheres are imbalanced, the brain cannot function at it’s full efficiency.

The human brain generates four types of energy patterns or cycles, viz. Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta, each of a specific frequency, circulating throughout the cerebral cortex and in the deeper layers of brain. A specific frequency pattern promotes a specific state of AWARENESS of the INDIVIDUAL. The deeper frequencies penetrate the deeper levels of the brain.

Whether we are awake or a sleep our brain is always in a state of activity. When we are ordinarily engaged, Beta activity of 16-30 cycles per second predominates,. i.e. rate of thought formation is normally is between 70 to 120 thoughts per second.

Beta activity in excess can lead to dangerous situation ( criminal). Such waves can be passed on from person to person as incoming impulses (crowed psychology) because the human brain is a resonator capable of receiving and transmitting energy waves.

Besides this has health depleting effect of stress, violence, fear, lust, greed, hatred, jealousy and other negative emotions. Does this not read parallel to what Yoga Sutra says, thoughts contrary to yoga are-----------, and also when the sutra talk of hindrances and obstacles.

It means that the brain wave pattern further slows down to 7—14 cycles per second, i.e. 30-60 thoughts per second, we enter Alpha awareness which is released yet alert awareness state highly describes.

Yet is to be noted that the Earth’s electro-magnetic field (ranging from 1 —100 cycles per second) picks out Alpha state cycles at 10 per second. This means that in this state we can tone to Earth’s magnetic energy enhancing Alpha awareness. Refer page 10, paras 2-3 onwards in last note.

58

When the brain wave pattern further slowdown, i.e. from Alpha to Theta to 3.5 to 7 cycles per second i.e. from 15-30 thoughts per second which in an average person is synonymous with dream state but if maintained during waking state, the individual experiences restfulness, problem solving ability, creative insight, extra ordinary mental gifts, emotional tranquillity and psychic stimulation. It is said that higher - force fields from planets and even sun can be connected, i.e. higher source of energy.

When the brain wave pattern further slow down, i.e. from Theta to Delta at 1—3 cycles per second, i.e. 5—15 thoughts per second, this corresponds in an average person to deep dreamless sleep. But if experienced in the state of awareness, i.e. full activity it is high state of Samadhi in Yoga, the earlier two states being that of Dharna and Dhyana, all three states are structured and disciplined states if brought about by Yoga Abhyasa.

Whenever we have mentioned in our previous notes about subjective and objective or external and internal world or state, we mean our awareness is governed by the rate of thoughts and the particular cycle prevailing in the human brain. Our up-grading of awareness exercises also help.

So the purpose of Dharna. Dhyana, and Samadhi is to create within the human laboratory by structured and disciplined means conditions which now modern scientific instruments pretend to do but which also means (a) Our dependence on such instruments (b) being non-structured method, we as individual cannot evolve when the machine stops, the artificially created state slowly disappears. It is like taking certain drugs or alcohol to experience these different states temporarily.

In normal sleep a healthy person’s brain experiences 20 minutes of Alpha, 20 minutes of Theta and 50 minutes of Delta type of waves. This cycles of one and half hours repeats. But Delta and Theta is experienced as deep sleep of ignorance and one is totally unaware of the whole world and even the bed in which one may be sleeping and time passes away as if it were few minutes.

59

But one must induce in brain through natural sources and by means of Earth, Planets and Sun and even other cosmic sources. This is done in Dharna, Dhyana, and Samadhi stages.

Energy can be induced in brain through natural sources and by natural means consciously or by artificial means unconsciously. Either way the energy will be accepted by the brain and transmitted to every gland and organ of the body by principle of Cell Resonance.

Actually it is not the brain that directly accept this energy but the astral or molecular body/manas system waking which is very subtle in structure and manas passes it on to the physical brain.

We live in an ocean of energy. But one can be in the ocean of waves and yet go thirsty, likewise we go without accepting this cosmic energy. All our movement, thinking and feeling is this cosmic energy.

Yogis and Rishis have known all these sources of energies since ages and only now science agrees. Every energy has its specific frequency, rated in cycles per second.

Modern technology in bio-energetic has captured a revolutionary artificial energy source based on scientific principles. Physical, emotional and mental weak being can be greatly enhanced by using the instruments.

Unlike the traditional system of Sage Patanjali, this non-structured conditioning. The patient does not have to actively participate. He or she simply lies down, relaxes and is induces either on Alpha or a Theta state of awareness, i.e. one reaches at least the dharna state.

In this case we ask, is Sage Patanjali dead and needed no more? No - he is alive and eternal through his teachings. It is we of modern times that are dead to his teachings.

60

Bio-energetic is an off-spring born of wed-locked between ancient wisdom and modern science holding before us a great hope.

It is absurd to claim an isolated physical cause behind hyper-tension or a bone marrow disfunction. More relevant dare, viz. What one eats at breakfast, how one reacts to death in the family, who are one’s friends, how one feels when one losses a game are all important causes. What we makes up is a person’s experience of sorrow, joys, feeling moments of pain, trauma and long hours of nothing special to do!!

The minutes of life silently accumulate like the particles of sand on flowing river and can eventually piles up and just out of the river and in life, as a formation of disease.

This process of accumulation is impossible to see or stop normally. Unlike the outer space of quantum physics our inner space is a rich field of silent intelligence which exerts a powerful influence on us.

Intelligence is easily located but impossible to find. When you want a drink of water, you are not just obeying an impulse from your brain, you are in fact listening to a request from every cell of your body. Can you communicate with your body?

In physics a field is what propagates an influence over a large area or even an infinite expanse of space. Anything that falls within a field, feels its effect.

The important point to observe about a living body (be it human or otherwise) is that a cell is infinitesimal out-cropping, while the brain is a huge mass; but when the cell communicate with the rest of the body, it is not at all inferior to brain in quality. In the way the Divine Fragment is no way inferior to Divine Wholeness.

The cell correlates with trillions of other cells and participate in thousands of chemical changes every second !! Each little cell like the human being is sentient and it know everything you know but in its own manner.

61

A nerve impulse of worry may show in the stomach as ulcer or in the colon as spasm or the brain as obsession, such is the manifestation of the same impulse. At the conscious level you may not be the aware of worry but all of the sudden the feeling is there to remind you.

The obstruction confronting medicine is that one side of our nature is flowing and changing and is sacrificed for the sake of the other that is stable and fixed.

All our molecules are soaked in intelligence but you cannot see it merely by looking at them. The difference between a man’s DNA and that of a gorilla or chimpanzee is about 1.1 percent. You may ask can the difference be so small between a jungle beast and a modern human being? Yes. The body/brain system, i.e. the outer covering is nearly the same, but no animal has within it, individually, a Divine Fragment, the Silence, as each human being has and that makes all the difference !!

The outer coverings are all biologically nearly the same for all life - so where is the place for satvic food which is related to the outer coverings only and has nothing to do with Divine Fragments !!.

The Good Man’s Heart :-62

“ The consciousness of good. Which neither gold,Nor sordid fame, nor hope of heavenly bliss,

Can purchase; but a life of resolute good,Unalterable will, quenchless desire,

Of universal happiness; the heart that beats,With it in unison; the brain,

Whose ever wakeful wisdom toils to changeReason’s reach stores for its eternal weal. This commerce of sincerest virtue needs,

No meditative signs of selfishness,No jealous intercourse of wretched gain,

No balancing of prudence, cold and long :-In just and equal measure all is weighed; In just contains the sum of human weal,

And one, the Good Man’s heart !-------Persy Byssne Snelly.

( Structured disciplined conditioning )

Such a person’s brain is unique both in structure and content. But memory is a creative act and everything depends on how you can build in silence.

We have noted the three superior types of wave cycles :-(1) Alpha : i.e. 30-60 thoughts per second.(2) Theta : i.e.15-30 thoughts per second(3) Delta : i.e. 5-15 thoughts per second.

Corresponding to the structured and disciplined state of

63

(1) Dharna (2) Dhyana and (3) Samadhi.

We have however noted in the notes of Jan/Feb. that there is a fourth states, viz. 0 - 1 cycle, i.e. 0 - 5 thoughts per second. Thoughts slow down from 120 per second to 0 - 5 per second the gap (we have stated about it in Jan/Feb notes) becomes systematically larger and more observable and more we are able to experience this gap which is silence.!!

The brain of man is and can be in permanent communication with the mind of GOD and this mind of God which is the Infinite Divine Mind is also only an outer covering of Divine Wholeness on Existence.

Such were the practices carried out by Yogis and such are practices of Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali.

Just like the artificial help- external of drug, the medicine may demand more and more addiction without creating a structured and disciplined state and which will evaporate and leave one more depressed and wanting and Yearning for the machine. THE CHOICE IS YOURS. --- “ASPIRATION”

Try to realise that progress is made step by step and each step gained by heroic effort. Withdrawal means despair or timidity. Conquered passions, like slain tigers, can do no longer turn and tear you. Be hopeful then, not despairing. With each morning’s awakening try to live through the day in harmony and with the Higher Self. “Try“ is the battle cry taught by the teacher to each pupil. Naught else is expected of you. One who does the he can do all that can be asked. There is a moment when even a Buddha ceases to be a sinning mortal and takes his first step toward BUDDHAHOOD.

30-04-1992.

Let us refer to pare (2). Page 2 of March meetings (notes). It reads “ Yoga is structured and disciplined conditioning of the body/brain system involving time and labour, which discourages many people”. Disciplined means you set aside for certain practices daily.

64

Structured means structure of each cell. We are not talking here of biological structure which depends on the main structure, viz. Contents of Satva, Rajas and Tamas. If the trillions upon trillions cells forming the human body/brain system; only a few thousands could or rather evolved sufficiently to merit to be called human cells, the rest are still the level on the level of the animal grade.

To change consciously the structure of each individual cell and adjust their quality ( Sattva, Rajas and Tamas content) and awareness level to the level of human cell is structured and disciplined conditioned. A conscious inner evolution. Brain by itself does not form the entire intelligence of the body/brain system but is only a part , a small part of the whole body/brain intelligence and awareness.

But body has to constantly co-operate with brain. This must not be a normal situation because medical science talks of body/brain barrier. To make this possible educating all the cells in the body, organs. Nerves, tissues and brain is very necessary.

Page (2) para (4) reads “ Resonance is an energy exchange between two bodies when their vibrating fields are of very similar frequency range. This means that we must practice means of transferring the higher energies of the molecular or astral body to the physical body ( and later from the mental or electronic/ atomic body to the physical body )

But before such transfer is possible it is necessary to refine energies circulating in the molecular body (as also the mental body ) of the individual. In the molecular or astral body there are some energies with the frequency of animal nature and so must be totally cleansed. Based on such practices and based on the law of resonance we can create energy exchange between the two bodies. At first in certain force centres and later- linking all such force centres and yet later from each cell of the molecular astral body to each cell of the cellular or physical body

Page (2) para (6) says “ Prana is an ancient word meaning higher types of energies and as prana is of seven grades it means, seven types of energies circulate in the astral or molecular body and can flow in to the physical body if resonance is brought about between the two bodies. However, of these

65

seven grades of prana the last three grades are animal type of prana or energies.”

Page (2) para (8) reads “ The human brain generates four types of energy patterns or cycles viz. Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta; each of a specific frequency, circulating throughout the cerebral cortex and in the deeper layers of the brain. A specific frequency pattern promotes a specific state of awareness of the individual. The deeper frequencies penetrate the deeper levels of the brain “.

This is important to understand. But normally in the waking state a normal human being, which means over 99% of humanity on this planet, function at Beta level of awareness and hence thought rate between 70 to 120 per pulse beat and such thoughts are normally described as not per Yoga Abhyasa or “ thought contrary to Yoga”

The Theta frequency raises the awareness of the individual and if maintained during waking hours. Page (3) para (7) reads “ the individual experiences restfulness, problem solving ability, creative insight, extra ordinary mental gifts, emotional tranquillity and psychic stimulation”

On page (3) para (2) reads,” the human brain is resonator capable of receiving and transmitting energy waves.”

This ability of the brain can work with whatever wave cycle the brain develops. If the brain develops Beta waves page (3) para (3) reads “ has health deplating effects of stress, violence, irritability, fear, lust, greed, hatred, jealousy, and other negative emotions.”

If the human brain works like a resonator capable of receiving and transmitting energy waves, it is dangerous at two different

(1) It passes on to other brains such waves.

66

(2) It receives or pulls so itself from other human brains similar incoming impulses

In (1) an individual harms others ; in (2) an individual harms himself or herself, it does not matter if such processes are unconscious, the damage will be done both ways.

There is a third way of inflicting damage on one’s self. Page (3) para (6) reads “ The Earth like the Infinite Mind is capable of producing awareness from 5 degree to 100 degrees i.e. from the state of so called inanimate to gracious and noble state which hardly a few human beings are capable of “

This means that all kinds of life besides the human, having different states of awareness can tune to the awareness level of the Earth ( 1------100) foe better or worse.

A human being functioning on Beta level of awareness will draw such incoming impulses from Earth and environment and from atmosphere.

Do you realise the great danger as well as great higher possibilities open to an individual who would consciously act as per Yoga Abhyasa, Yoga Sutra.

Based on what has been stated let us try to understand page 12 of the notes of December 1991 meeting

Based on the law of resonance and based on the natural ability of a resonator of the human brain we have now to understand the point in time in relation to the two natural qualities of the human brain.

“Now” is the point in time, not past and future, because both past and future are linked and bound to this ‘Now’

The brain works on different levels:

(1) Human being to human being and other types of life.(2) Permanent seed atoms to implanted seed atoms in each human brain.

67

(3) With the enormously large spectrum of the Earth as we have noted above, through environment, soil, air, ocean etc.

But such connections is not on the bases of communication as we know on Earth. “Here nothing is moving. No message is sent and received as in the sense that in the objective world we send and receive messages.

The infinite mind is the medium and the individual mind as a catalyst puts brain in contact with the Infinite mind and Infinite mind gives instant contact between a permanent seed atom in Mahakala and an implanted seed atom in an individual and brain. On this works the intensity chart of each individual and works non-stop like an advanced computer. By proper and conscious methods we can achieve peace and tranquillity.

When does spiritual fiction become fact ? When the eyes can see as clearly the inside of one’s own and later of other person’s inner body structure as clearly and convincingly as the external world around, fiction changes to fact.

When the eyes can see the incoming impulses vividly i.e. of what type or structure they are as clearly as the external around, fiction changes to fact.

When the eyes can see the prana of all the seven grades and the prana in the atmosphere, the ocean till the deepest bottom and down to cross of the Earth

And as coming from the Sun, Moon and other planets and later from the deep inside the Universe, as clearly as the external world around, fiction changes to fact.

But we need no third eye as is believed nor special spiritual eyes but our own two eyes that would look so normal and yet would become so penetrative that opaque and subtle would no more when curvature ceases to obstruct, the eyes have truly developed. When is this possible.

Yoga Sutra of Sage Patanjali would remain at best mere spiritual fiction if the eyes are not developed to see clearly the inside of the body, brain and mind, i.e if

true perception or spiritual reading is not possible.

68

How to make this possible is so important that the study of the SUTRAS SHOULD BE TAKEN UP ONLY AFTYER SUCH DEVELOPMENT HAS TAKEN PLACE

The most important practices leading to perception or spiritual reading are first and fifth exercise of upgrading of awareness. ,the first with the prism and the fifth without the prism, though all the five have to be practiced.

Human eyes like the eyes of the kitten need simple practices to be able to see beyond the physical. The kitten needs only to open and close during those few early days so that it may not go blind ( in the physical world ).

Fortunately human eyes are able to perceive, i.e. can be developed at any later stage in life, if the eyes are made to practice the two practices in particular as stated above or to go blind spiritually the best oh the remaining life. The purpose is to develop perception or spiritual reading and the purpose with the prism is not the disappearance of the prism. But these practices have to be done sincerely over a period.

(xx) What is ‘Now’ Like the word ‘sky’ for there is no real sky, so there is no real ‘Now’. Before you say ‘Now’ it has become the past moment. The immediate future moment in turn becomes ‘ Now’ but before you realise, it has become the past.

It is a fraction of a moment “Kshana”.

We cannot dwell or meditate or think on ‘Now’. We can dwell or meditate or think on a collective past or on a collective future, but there is no collective “ Now’.

Yet this “ Kshana” a particle of moment is important for each “Now’ has reciprocal Now of each Now, each Now , especially those memorable ‘Now’ that begins an event and has a relationship of that event in each life, past, present, and future, not a single past , present, and future life, but a series of past, and a series of future lives.

In Yoga Sutra book III (52) page 286, the Sutra talks about this Kshana. Bengali Baba writes, the whole universe undergoes change by that single moment; all characteristics are in fact installed on that single moment”. This “ Kshana”, “Now” is likewise for the individual as for the universe.

69

This relationship of past, present and future “now” is memory. We have the illusory idea of an imprint when we talk of memory, it is actually a relationship of events that repeat and repeat and these multiple relationship require multiple repeated lives each very nearly the same. In case of inanimate objects, it is an imprint ( memory).

If you can look back on your past hundred lives, like a cinema and group of near same pictures move at a certain speed, we experience a moving picture in cinema, same in life also. Let us study page (12) para (5,6and7).

Alpha and Theta Music - The world’s Most Beautiful Sounds-ALPHA SOUND - U.S.patented

Alpha/Theta sound produced by a unique patented processes utilizing the mixing of inaudible Alpha or Theta awareness frequencies to a radio

70

programme. The value of such wave fords on the human nervous system has been proved and is clinically documented. It has been scientifically proven that specific electrical waves are present in the brain while at rest. These impulses are known as Alpha and Theta waves.

An Alpha or Theta inaudible sound wave can be mixed with all types of audio programmes ( music, vocal etc. ) This inaudible baseline wave (Alpha or Theta) is sensed by listener’s ear to create an Alpha or Theta state of awareness during listening time. This addition to music gives it a Vibrato effect, a blended into every musical and vocal tone. Even in the most subtle expressions come alive, within the listener, with greater clarity discernment and deeper emotional feelings. Soothing and sound sensations can be felt throughout the mind and body.

It is a fact that the presence of sufficient Alpha waves promote a state of Alpha awareness or consciousness. A person listening to Alpha state of awareness is considered desirable in promoting relaxation of the mind and body. This reduces or eliminates anxiety or mental stress enhances efficiency and creativity and promotes a feeling of peace and tranquillity. The Theta state of awareness is associated with peaceful sleep, psychic experiences, hypnogogic imagery and creative insight. There is also evidence to indicate that Theta awareness plays a significant role in the natural healing process.

Scientist and investigators realize that Alpha/ Theta awareness aids in healing of mental and physical conditions and also helps to maintain a sense of well being. Problem solving and meditation are aided as well as Alpha/Theta awareness overcome everyday stressful situations which causes envy, fear, despair, bitterness , resentment, anguish ,grief, or other negative emotions . The inability to relax often results in serious mental and physical conditions. It is one of the keys to stress reduction and is particularly effective in such diverse fields as education, athletics , business , psychiatry, dentistry , psychology, hypnosis, and psychic research.(Alpha energy products .inc.)

To induce half hearted persons to work and progress on the path, who would first like to see or have some incentive, what practices would give way and quick results?

If the temperament leans towards psychic or intellectual or purely material or inquisitive are the different practices? Should such be encouraged? Or should we firmly tell them to seek elsewhere ?

The posture in the phase exercises practiced for three minutes which would clear the brain’s side passages is so much necessary to progress, or the first and fifth practices of upgrading of awareness that makes the eyes penetrative would give results if done regularly.

The holding of a full breath for a minute or two would open the right side of the brain and make it active if the breath is progressively held for three or four minutes.

But must I have barely a few sincere students who would continue even if there is no ray of hope. Perhaps I have not found even ten among all that I know here or elsewhere.

I think, I must stop this monthly meeting which is hardly better than a social meeting because each following Saturday proves how much is the interest or where the interest lies.

My master would have thrown me in the dust-bin had I shown him even a little less eagerness though my eagerness and efforts were at white hot level which I witness in no one here or anywhere else.

Perhaps I should not blame any one of you. If you all are making an attempt to awake from deep slumber and if deep slumber still numbs your mind-you are not to blame. I shall wait, but how long will nature’s law permit ? Perhaps you all will find such guides as your individual temperament is seeking. Mine is a very different and steep path after years of toil; whereas none of you have known what toil is !!.

25-06-1992.

The conscious efforts to awaken and to remain awakened:

72

Here I am trying to equate remaining awake to remaining constantly aware of 3 SRB. 3SRB and remaining awake is same only. 3SRB established for twenty -four hours can keep you awake even in sleep.

We cannot understand what is to remain awake in two hours of our meeting here and what it entails cannot be described in one volume. To remain really awake is the great mastery of organic life on earth, and we are here interested in the life of “man” and one should not expect subjective wisdom which has been hidden for ages, to be easily understood. 3SRB is something objective that can be experienced and which can help you to remain awake if you can observe it or keep it in observation from time to time.

To be or to remain awake is twenty-four hours a day endeavour, just as 3 SRB is ! There is no substitute of remaining awake as well as for 3 SRB. It is not mind or brain activity and that knowledge cannot be a substitute either. When any activity that hinders one from remaining awake or makes one forget 3 SRB is wrong activity.

Stop thinking and be content to be ! Awakening has many facets. Taste the wine, look at flower, hear the music. It is strange ,it is always quite close. It is an external consideration, non identification, non-expression of negative emotions. Above all transform all suffering, one’s self can be evoked during moments of great danger or amidst great beauty.

Remember to remain awake, because this state by itself has no momentum. It is also important to know that 3 SRB by itself will not go on because it has no momentum, till it has been established, one must make efforts moment to moment. When that state appears, experience it, instead talking about it. If you are awake and other people cannot see it, then you are truly awake We cannot rely on accident to produce awareness of a higher order. To remain awakened is not a sensation, it is an immortal process. Each time you remember it, you produce a flash of eternity that will not perish. We are foolish when we value the tangible above the intangible. Remember your practice of 3 SRB and remember to practice many many times daily.

One must not meditate under special circumstances and at certain times, but under all circumstances and each waking moment. What we have earlier described as “ meditative attitude “, It is never possible to evolve without

73

experiencing this state, to be awake. We must be able to distinguish between wakeful sleep and being awake. The self is always awake, the body/brain system knows sleep.” I look through my eyes, not with them “.

Awareness has degrees, like the moon, from no moon to full moon. True or pure awareness can be divine or otherwise low awareness can be degrading, low

and negative. Awakening is an emotional process and friction must be emotional. Friction i.e. 3 SRB can seem to be a curse, until we begin to realise the great idea behind it ! What is the great idea ? Immortality.

Restoring the dead to life is the true meaning of remaining awakened or truly awakening others. We have with us the beginning and the end of the creation. Awakening can or must originate in the intellectual centre as well as in the emotional centre. Talking about Awakening is not awakening. It is beyond words. Time appears to stand still when one is truly awake.

What do I need to do ? The million dollar question on your lips ! When you eat, taste your food, when you listen, actually make your ears work, your heart beats will lead you and it knows what is right if your brain does not interfere. In the end nothing stand between you and the start of being awake- but your self. It does not mean being emotional is better than being intellectual but let not being intellectual dry your higher emotions or suffocate them.

My job is to get you or make you understand what I understand unnecessary talk kills the state of being awake. Silence is our business. Walt Whitman said, “ and now the profound lesson of reception, neither preference nor denial. Just accept what each moment offers” Also remember , that to remain awake is a private business not worth talking about.

We are what observes, and not what we observe. What observe one’s body/brain system is one’s self. No experience can compare with one’s awakening. The great truth amidst the create lie. Every thing else is false.

In giving thanks sincerely, i.e. true prayers, a state of being awake ? Divine purposeful attention is a state of remaining awake. Divided unconscious attention is sleep. Anyone not in the business of self remembering is in

74

wrong business. Do not sacrifice the state of being awake for anything else in the world because everything else is secondary and false.

To remain awake is over all and everything, the hidden meaning of life on Earth. At a certain period in our evolution ( the point in time) everything else is nonsense. Death sweeps everything away- death cannot touch the acquired state of remaining awake and so we can die consciously and be born consciously. The awake state is never to be forgotten state.

St.Paul said,” Behold I show you a miracle, we all shall not sleep “ Humanity must remain under the law of accident because it does not know what is the state of awakeness. To be awake means that one is aware both of one’s self and what one is doing or viewing.

The whole creation groans to be delivered. Everything in Nature is driven to exist, but does not know where to go. You are not the role you are playing. Two things becomes apparent as one awakens (1) that there is truly no hope without the acquired state of being awake, (2) how great is this state !

When intellectual types first learn about how to remain awake, they often speak too much ! speech destroys the state of the oncoming of this state. Although one must be emotional to awaken, does not require an emotional centre of gravity. If you would rule all, rule yourself.

Avoiding sentimentally does not make one insensitive . It makes one sensitive to finer state and to more noble values. People without substance require novelty. Remaining awake frees one from the law of accidents.

What a break-through it is when our ears begin to hear and our eyes begin to see ! But results do not come easily. It builds character, sanskaras, structure. Being awake is difficult precisely because it is a key to a new world. !

If one has the aim of remembering one’s self i.e. to remain awake, that is the first force, imagination that poses a denial is the second force and friction, brought by higher forces is the third force. When two forces opposes one’s

75

mechanical life ; one’s higher aim can be met, one then understand the need of receiving outside help to awake. It may be a painful experience !.

Omar Khayam wrote, “ and when the dark angel with his darker drought draws up to thee, take that end and do not shrink “ This means that in material life one is made a zero, yet do not shrink. The awake state is sought eternally in books, external gurus and places. Remember your self always and everywhere.

The state of being awake is a nuisance to the body/brain system which wants to live its own life or would rather have its own wishes. FALSE PERSONALITY IS OPPOSED TO THE STATE OF BEING AWAKE. The body/ brain system cannot remember itself because the state of being awake is not mechanical and body/brain system is mechanical.

Contradictions exist within our body/brain system because we are not ONE. We have many brains. So much of our day is composed of our body/brain system is wanton consumption of precious energy. It would be foolish to think that the state of being awake is easily attainable. Different subjects interest the different many brains or the different many parts of the body/brain system

Will the body/brain system ever give up the idea that it is missing something ? And so it continually seeks this or that. It will attempt to use excessive fear or doubts to undermine one’s work. Simply correct the situation by remaining awake or keep the state of being awake.

How can we actually concentrate our sex energy ? The sex centre is a mechanism designed to refine materials including food, air, and incoming impulses that come in as food. Its higher invisible purpose is to be utilised in always remaining awake. The area shown in diagram as ( 1 -2) is the sex centre.

Sex centre transforms energy in to finer energy ( ojas) through the process of being awake. Wrong work misuses sex energy. One can use profitably sex energy by remaining awake for a longer periods , preferable always. Sex like religion keeps a man asleep.

76

On one level sex energy is designed to perpetuate, on a higher level it is intended to ignite by transmitting sex energy. Refer diagram IIIa above observe (1--2). This circulation together forms the sex centre where precious energies of life , awareness and will are generated. It is the area of the perineum.

If you observe diagram I and II and compare with above diagrams you will notice that a finer and higher energy is processed. The energy of essence of consciousness. It is not consciousness. It is the energy for the formation of essence-an “in between ground”—between the body/brain system and the self. This substance which is processed and which is actually the higher type of energy, is sometimes called “ The Essence” Some misunderstand essence as Self. But remember it is an “ in between ground”. The connecting link between the material and the spiritual aspects of a human being.

Without formation of essence the body/brain system cannot wake up. In IIIa its quantity is little and whenever in a sprout of consciousness progress it is a utilised one is lukewarm again . In IIIb and IIIc state it is a protected abundantly this source never dries up.

We do have an incredibly intelligent body/brain system. But do we ever think that there is some greater intelligence behind this body/brain system? Though we must understand our body/brain system, especially for playing mischief. But it cannot remember itself because it thinks it has nothing to gain from it. If it can, then Soul or Divine Fragment would be redundant to it!! Do not underestimate a human body/brain system.

We can to certain calm the beats, i.e. our body/brain system. Also we never underestimate the instinctive centre, the solar plexus, the remnant of the animal instincts. It is always poised to understand any effort to remain awake.

This centre attempt to destroy hope ! Because one dines 80,000 times in one’s life time , not including snacks, it is the best time to remain awake, perhaps this way ancient wisdom required that whilst eating one must observe silence. But eating in excess prepares the body/brain system for sleep.

77

This centre pretend the state of full awareness. To expect this centre to be able to experience the state is to expect the cow to jump over the moon. Yet when eating, this centre is very receptive and one can work on this centre.

The Bible says, “ for now we see through the glass darkly “. Which means that we experience the world through our body/brain system as if through a dark glass

False personality has numerous masks. If friction were not given by higher forces, one would remain automatic and asleep always.

False personality is a compilation of unconscious acts acquired from others. The real part of us is strong.

False personality is opposed to control and restraints. To awaken you must struggle with the weakness each moment presents .False personality thinks one has to be in a temple or at an isolated retreat in order to reach higher awareness.

When higher centres will develop false personality will question them because its existence is then threatened.

False personality does not see itself as false . There is no situation that cannot serve one as an opportunity for making an effort to remain awake. You have to examine what takes its place and experience an internal civil war.

To help you in fighting this internal civil war , which each sincere aspirant has to fight, each one of you have been given various techniques like 3SRB, refining exercises etc. Why does this civil war take place ? Slowly in life after one progresses from diagram I to II then to IIIa. One is able to generate the higher type of energy—the energy of essence of consciousness, in small trickle.

When it dries up the aspirant fails and civil war takes place . Again the energy is generated and the aspirant gets a little success and when it dries up again, the aspirant fails again. There are regrets, there are resolutions- all to no avail; when the energy dries up. In some one life as struggle continues one

78

meets or comes across a book, a teacher and many a teacher there be that would mislead. These are the symptoms of IIIa. It is a long journey.

23-07-1992From the notes of the last meeting what are the important points we have noticed?

79

1). The state if being awake is nuisance to the body/brain system which wants to live its own life and remain blissfully a sleep.

2). Remaining awake needs no special way of life, we can taste the wine, look at flower or hear music, i.e. in all simple activity of life, let us be present and not perform automatically.

3). Your mind must be where you are or in whatsoever you are engaged in.

4). But the state of remaining awake has no momentum of its own. It has to be consciously pushed every moment. The moment you cease to do so you are asleep and if you are a sleep, you cannot carry on with 3SRB either because 3SRB is a proof of your remaining awake, just as early light is proof of the sunrise:

5). If you are awake, you need no friction from higher powers in your life because friction is introduced to remind you that you are asleep.

6). At certain period in our evolution in any of life (the point in time) everything is nonsense. When you are asleep everything worth achieving or having.

7). Awakening is both intellectual as well as emotional (higher emotions).

8). With awakening, material life becomes zero. Are you afraid of that?

9). We normally think of brain as one solid mass. We have many minor brains within this brain as well as in the body. We do not know which minor brain is working at what time and so another would not want it or care for it. We have to first become one within.

10). The holly ground in our body/brain system is not in the heart or in the brain – it is at the perineum. Between Muladhara ands Swa – dhisthana. Here nature quietly generate higher energies. But for such a generation to begin, one must have control over one’s sex. It does not mean that we deny healthy sex. But it’s misused or overuse must be controlled judiciously. This area in the astral body and coincide in the physical body.

80

11). The important area is the perineum. Here one can consciously bring about transformation. There are other methods followed by many different schools on this subject but this is the most potent method of all. Remember, we are structured in transcendent, we have to make this happen. Transform and evolution.

Scientifically this area forms the fulcrum or the centre of gravity of the body/brain system. We are born here and die here. Not in the heart or in the brain or in the lungs.

The first breath in the lungs is possible only if at birth the two sparks take place, one at muladhara and the other at swadthisthana and the heart’s first throb (on its own volition) begins; for till now as a foetus it throbbed with the help and in conjunction with its mother’s heart. If the two spark take place, all is well.

It is this area that will stop at death and death will overpower the body/brain system the heart and the pulse may last fractionally longer.

To continue from the last month’s notes; initially one centre of gravity (structure, sanskaras, the state prevailing at the perineum is major denying force. If essence is aware both of itself and of the object viewed, higher centres will start functioning. Essence has no value unless it is accompanied by serious and continuous effect to remain aware.

Why do we wish to concentrate on a talent we have; instead on our own awareness? If you could put the same efforts in trying to remain fully awake, what would you achieve? Immortality.

It is tragic that one stand in one’s own way through one’s own “I“s. By resisting the inclination of our body/brain system our true self will emerge. It takes many life time to transform essence. The road on IIIa is very long few hundred thousand life times is average.

Fear and resentment can extend one or two minutes suffering into hours and days of brooding. Real grief is not a negative emotion, when there is restraint and silence. One must use voluntary suffering to awaken but other people

81

should not know. Keep irritating the body/brain system. Use voluntary suffering of fifteen minutes and find something else. But be within means and do not defeat your will by trying to do too much.

Almost anything is an excuse for preventing the state of being awake. It is much easier to imagine, day dreaming, brooding or to be identified or to be negative than to be awake. We still have not gone to the bottom of things as long as we are blaming someone or something else.

These substitutes are active when we are asleep, in waking state however we can function without them. We awaken by removing excuses and illusions.

The many ‘I’’s bewilder the simplicity of being awake. The intellectual centre does not pose question indefinitely distracting one from the need to be awake. Self pity is the greatest enemy.

What replaces the efforts to remain awake, is a variety of non-important phenomena. We should struggle to prevent the state of being awake from disappearing behind our daily petty routine; just as 3SRB disappears also.

We have something within us that is immortal. Do you also believe so? Then why the hesitation? One needs to study other people as well as oneself to understand how features like vanity or fear manifest.

One must understand that one going something real and eternal when one is really awake. Higher forces gradually corner one into living in present by gradually removing a series of lies. However awareness is not a mind activity.

It is not the event, the people or time of life that is the obstacle, it is one’s own many ‘I’s. Think of the great chaos that exists each day within us. We have random brains that move from one area to another area and we call that “man” “It is a generous title for a divine comedy. “ It is amazing what floats around in our brain.

We go through the periods of extreme behaviour and during these time our work is to remain awake and preserve in doing so till the period lasts. It does not matter how long the period.

82

It is useful and necessary to think about what interfered with our state of being awake today. One can observe that many of the situations that brought sorrow or joy were not worthy of these states. It is said, one is to be taught to remain awake. One can forget a coat or an umbrella, but to forget one’s self or 3SRB is unpardonable, even after knowing what we can gain and achieve!!.

Our major problem is how to avoid identifying with our problems. For example, try not to identify when the body/brain system is lying! Because it does not matter what one’s body/brain is doing if one is asleep. Our bodies were and are designed to sleep, not to remain awake, so we must go against Nature. The body/ brain system thus requires push every moment.

Identification masquerades as humility. If one is not careful one can spend the entire life in identification and this is what we usually do. Some of the things we take seriously you could not sell for a rupee. But, it is understandable that one cannot serve old bonds without pain; but at anytime one’s self may ceases to move on the path of evolution and this is truly death.

We know awareness has degrees; identification is a state of madness; may be a little less than actual madness. Very small things catch us. He did not remember my birthday! One must remember that a higher right exists; the right to be! One has difficulties with others because one has difficulties with oneself.

Identification (to get involved) regarding of the subject is a negative emotion. It is not possible to evolve without confronting one’s deepest identifications.

What is the strongest force against keeping awake? Imagination, which is natural state of a man. It is a state we have to struggle with throughout our lives. Imagination consumes energy and introduce in to all circumstances so that reality would seem to be a foreign experience. Does not today 3SRB seem a foreign experience in comparison to our wrong breathing? When you yield to imagination, i.e. day-dreaming or brooding – and similar to wrong breathing - something great disappear behind something small, i.e. your

83

state of being awake suffers. Do you realised what 3SRB can give you? Total rhythm and peace and yet you allow that to disappear behind your routine or your dreaming.

We must struggle all forms of imagination as with the sexual. False personality does not wish its false life of imagination interrupted by the reality of the state of being awake. Is it not odd that we have to taught to breath correctly? Is it no odd that we have to taught to live in present. When one awakens and discovers that it is the body/brain system speaking, a sense of alarm passes through one because one realizes that one’s body/brain system functions adequately only in sleep.

Two familiar adversaries to being awake are 1) imagination, 2) identification. They will haunt one throughout life. One of the sad things about friction that it passes away and we prevail – not learning anything out of it! There must be tension in one’s life to awaken, but most or all people are asleep and they do not want to be disturbed.

When friction is intense, which is difficult to control internal storm. When friction becomes intense and extreme, we tend to succumb or become indifferent but it is also true that if friction stops, the state of being awaken also stops. Under real stress all philosophical wisdom gives way to the ruling faculty.

When friction is intense, we may forget that it is a play, when it subsides we realise; but the shock was intended to reveal identifications and develop higher centres.

How can one attract more friction to be more awake? Introducing voluntary suffering in life. One is fortunate to receive friction in the form of large shocks. They help us to evolve. Jesus said, “ The sun of man hath not where to lay his head”.

What do you think is the greatest friction? Awakening is a moment to moment to struggle. Don’t wait for the friction to end.

“When will this end?” wrote Rilke : how dear you are to me, you nights of sorrow! Why do I not kneel to receive you and give myself more unto you?

84

We are wasters of our sorrow! How we gaze beyond them into sum drab to see if they (sorrow) may end there!!

You receive friction when you need it. Trials force sincere students to surface. One’s mechanical morality thinks friction is punishment. Some even say, God is testing him/her! The aim is to transform. If we are awake when experiencing friction we assimilate suffering. But no inner mental dialogue is necessary.

It is mechanical to resist friction, but divine to transform it. One can become exasperated under pressure, yet one must try to allow oneself to reach that point. The only way out this to change one’s level of being (structure) though not identifying. “Settle in silence.”

The only answer is to remain awake! Everyone get the crunch but we come through our trials the stronger for them, We cannot escape through thinking (inner mental dialogue), we cannot escape through laughter or crying. We can only escape if we are awake.

Life is sleep and we are going against the stream if we keep awake. Like soloman with a strong boming instinct we must swim against the strong current of life’s sleep. To remember ourselves and to develop. What is it to be a man? We cannot awaken unless we have verified that we are asleep. Higher forces become more serious with one as each year progresses.

Almost no one realises the enormity of what can be gained or lost during one’s life time. One gains immortality or suffers oblivion or worse. Every moment that you are awake you pierce eternity.

No one provides enough pressure on one self to awaken which is why higher forces provide the necessary shocks. It takes more to awaken then one knows and more than the body/brain system is willing to admit. Remaining awake is a challenge. We have to accept even though at times it seems almost too much and beyond our capacity and our level of being. Courage have limitation but awakening requires no courage, but perseverance – simply endurance.

Never lay the state of being awake aside. Higher awareness is not given but it is earned through one’s efforts, added by higher forces. In trying to awake

85

one has to realise that there are no guarantees. If you want to be immortal, you will be : If you want something else you will get that, choice is yours.

What does it mean to make extra efforts? “ There is not a moment without some duty. One must work beyond one’s capacity daily to change one’s level of being”.

What is the origin of tension in our body/brain system? How can it be used for remaining awake? We live in a mechanical age that produces tension within one’s system, only it helps to awaken. On way to avoid worse for registering impressions is to employ the looking exercise. Merely to look (prism exe. 1.)

Or while walking, one can concentrate one’s attention on an object, i.e. within reasonable distance and try not to allow thoughts to manifest until one has passed that impression (object).

If one were to act consistently one would be acting consciously. How can we be in the present when we plan for future need? To everything there is a season. There is need to plan for future needs, but do not prolong the process and ones it is finished, focus on the present. We have a total commitment to awaken. The most beautiful achievements are within the reach, because of man’s own neglect, they are seldom attained.

Never allow yourself to being so busy; to be in such a hurry that you forget your precious self. How can we include the element of surrender in our moment to moment efforts to remain awake? We should not need external events to urge us to remember our selves. We push ourselves to the limit to remember.

Why is it harder to do this the farther we go? Because we stop being satisfied and have stopped fooling ourselves about our conditions. From the realisation that man is only a body/brain system the real work starts. It is a very rough road, but the only one worth travelling.

COCSCIOUS EFFORTS TO AWAKEN AND TO REMAIN AWAKE

In the last meeting stress was laid on how to become one within. The many minor brains that create the many ‘I’’s should be first made into co-ordinated brain and one co-ordinated “I”.

If this does not happen or rather till this happens, there will be conflicts within and ‘will’ which is the outcome of one co-ordinated “I” does not function.

87

You will note the diagrams how this happens in an individual over innumerable life times as one proceeds from diagram I state to diagram IIIa state. “WILL” which from neutral will (i.e. will that is able to do nothing) state becomes intellectual will in diagram II and becomes spiritual will in diagram IIIa, IIIb and IIIc when one is properly established.

This spiritual will state within, removes all inner conflicts and gives one the strength as well as the purpose to remain awake and not be lost completely or totally and be unaware, i.e. sleeping and/or day-dreaming or brooding.

The practices that help are :

A. Corrective exercises-that which is applicableB. Prism 1st and 5th exercises.C. Phase exercise I—IVD. The un falling 3SRB.

The second point stressed is the area of the perineum coinciding with that area in the astral body. Conscious efforts to awaken and regenerate this area would start the regeneration of higher energies and when these energies reach the brain via the spine centre, higher centres open and transformation takes place in an individual because it is still structured in human being by God and Nature.

Each human being is structures for this. It is not given as a gift to some few. But these few have worked day and night to make this possible. It gives natural control over (1) memory (2) lower emotions (3) negative state of mind and will generate essence. One must not identify and/or involve oneself with one’s negative state of mind and must practice 3SRB. To this effect one must practice for a little while voluntary suffering.

The final important point and very instructive is the contradictory state of an average human being. A human being is structured in transcendent and for this to be possible all the required energies and higher centres are provided

88

to function (that are required) and are all structured within, so that should one sincerely apply and work, the result must follow.

Yet, at the same time the body/brain system is designed to sleep and remain asleep. The minor brains remaining separated and demanding their pound of flesh and the many ‘I’’s making inner confusion worst confounded.

It is easier to sleep. It is easier to remain involved and identify. It is easier to day-dream and /or brood.

These two contradictory aspects of human being within are both strong and lead to (a) down grade or (b) up grade. In life we experience it is easier to go down and difficult to go up. The choice is yours, one road lead to oblivion, the other to immortality.!

To help those who are asleep, Nature give in friction in their lives and in some case shocks. This is to awaken one from sleep. Now we proceed further.

In the Gatgas, Zorathrushtra mentions, ‘ O ahuramazda, you have given to man both the aspects (1) spentaman and (2) Angremnu. Both are equally strong and work in opposite directions. Show me, O ahura, how I can help man to defeat the angremnu aspect and to lead him on to you.’! Now we shall continue from our notes of the months of June and July. With this month’s notes it forms a series

One must become somewhat accustomed to suffering.

Men require formidable suffering to make them men.

When Nature wants to drill a man,

When Nature wants to mould a man.

Watch her methods, Watch her ways!

89

How she ruthlessly perfects,

How she hammers him and hurts him,

And with mighty blows converts him,

While his tortured hearts is crying and He

Lifts his beseeching hands!

When nature wants to make a man

To create him large and whole

With cunning she prepares him

Bids him struggle ‘harder yet’

------Angele Morgan.

One must experience pain and rise above it. One truly understands what one has suffered. Awakening is intended to be a pleasant process. One must pay the awesome price. It is necessary to accept suffering as life giving principle.

One can bend or buckle under pressure. Do not wish for it to end, but try to transform “for in much wisdom is much grief.“ An element within us wishes that suffering will or may occur to someone else instead of to me. It is the solar plexus that is speaking.

There can be no victory without battle, one reason people suffer is because he think of themselves too much. Higher forces are then assured of having created to compassionate identity that will serve, rather the selfish abuse.

90

One must suffer the same trials to achieve the same spiritual results in any age. The same inexorable price must still be paid for the same great purchase. Each must have the fortune and the misfortune to verify that.

No man can know himself without carrying at heart that has endured despair. One must strive for what is inaccessible, for that is where reality dwells and only despair can scale the great walls. Let us be touched but not consumed by suffering. Remember when feelings of helplessness arise, you have help but for such who have really suffered. “while I thought that I was learning how to live, I have been in fact learning how to die.“

In the face of suffering, one over power weakness is resentment. Rilke described such a man as a “Water of sorrow “. The best way one can serve higher forces is by remembering oneself continuously. One of the important function of negative emotions is to distract us from remembering our state of being awake.

How can one prevent self-pity from misusing the work of higher forces. How can we increase voluntary suffering? Do what your body/brain system does not want to do or give the body/brain system what it does not like.

Is voluntary suffering an artificial pressure or is it legitimate? It is both. It produces results. It contains an element of will but it must constitute a small fragment of one’s day. Do not over do it (not more than 20 minutes a day.)

Is it easier to remain awake when one is relaxed or tense then when one is feeling neutral? All three states are good for remaining awake. “One self and suffering must often wend a lonely, mystical path and make no attempt to conceal this fact, for there is light at the end of the tunnel”.

Awakening is divine and higher forces use altogether different rules. They do however love us consciously. It is wisdom’s everlasting law that truth can only be learned by suffering it. There is nothing we can do about suffering except transforming it.

91

Life has many unpleasant moments that one must endure with or without a system. DO NOT TRY TO RUN AWAY FROM SUFFERING. Do we bring about our own suffering? There is an irrevocable ‘play’ written for each person and each of us has to pay for receiving our awakening. You lose nothing but your illusions. Sadness has its place but one needs to nip it in bud“. I trouble deaf Haven with my fruitless cries.”

The foe of real progress is sleep and so remaining awake is necessary at all times. “Nothing can make man so like God as suffering”. One’s attitude towards events and not events themselves, determines whether or not one will suffer. Silence is the face of suffering.

There must be friction always of sufficient magnitude to produce higher awareness. Though at times massive suffering forces one to question the meaning of existence!! Do not waste time in thinking thus. Friction is always given to all types of persons regardless of their centre of gravity. How will you weigh or decide what type of suffering is greater?

Although the methods used by higher forces may seem uncivilised. One must attain the higher understanding that transforming suffering creates life and peace. Of one assimilates suffering correctly, there is no time to indulge in self-pity. Self-pity does not prevent suffering as also rebellion.

Few men who become conscious, know their alchemy, centre of gravity or body type.

Nothing is more noble, nothing is more important than transforming negative emotions. One’s wish to awaken increases with each lifetime, as one’s intensity of friction and negative emotions to transform.

Few men have strength to bear awakening. Something is always trying to distract us from the present. “Behind all negative emotions lies our permission.” People who are mechanically positive are not different from those who are mechanically negative. How can one work without losing one’s temper? Anger is a real disappointment when it occurs. ‘ Endure my heart, far worse hast thou endured”

92

To what extent is a teacher to be a model to his students? How much should the student fashion themselves after him? Everyone is not the same and his soul the result of his experience and suffering . One sheds imitation after a while and one comes into one’s own style.

As one goal is immortality, I wonder why We are not given more suffering! All men require friction at all levels to improve their level of being. One meets one’s fate on the road one took to avoid it! so do not think about escaping.

Transforming negative emotions must become a habit. If one is awake one does not need. But if one is asleep one needs. It is always a law that one must transform negativity in order to awaken. Negative emotions are always concerned with something small. A mere trifle consoles us because a mere trifle distress us. “I argue not against HEAVEN’S HAND” said Milton. This is an example of transforming suffering. He said this only later when he had awakened, for earlier he had rebelled against Heaven. In this poem “On His Blindness.“ he wrote ‘Does God expect day labour light denied ?

No surer sign of sleep exists than a negative emotion. Imaginary pressure are responsible for many negative emotions. Most of which originate in the solar plexus, the centre of animal instincts in human beings. Experience helps as time passes.

It is miracle to turn water into wine, i.e. knowledge into understanding. The expression of negativity is mechanical and deeply programmed into our body/ brain system.

Buddha used eat whatever that fall into his begging bowl. We can transform negative emotion only when we understand that we gain nothing by expression at and gain everything by resisting it. What a waste negative emotion will have been to us at the end of our lives to have wasted a part of our precious life that way.

Some shocks show us how much potential we have and how much we are using. There is no dwelling on one’s loss. To be awake and experience hatred;

93

cannot occupy same space within. “Leave me the to fulfil the will of the gods and to follow wither the lead. “ Socrates.

The body/brain system has many subjective and objective states, but they all can be illusions that takes away our precious time. The non-expression of negative emotions gives one energy. Silence under trial. One reason it is difficult to awaken is because we are surrounded by six billion people who are asleep and snoring. What does it matter if the whole world cries out against you, if you are right! Relinquishing negative emotions is a matter of life and death.

Suffering itself is a waste, but transforming it is precious. Our human heart is so great that there is a almost no limit to what it can transform. Regardless of what action one takes to develop one’ essence, one’s efforts must also be accompanied by remaining awake. But one must sufficiently increase the value of being awake. “When the objects to extract moment of wakefulness in a day. “ one may be able to extract moments of wakefulness in a day, nevertheless these fragments are your real possession.

The present is the only thing of which a man can be deprives. Six billion people on Earth have not discovered value of 3SRB, the one sure factor leading to being always awake and what is worse for them, they do not want to hear or practice. They do not know what they are missing. And here are gathered some, who on being told endlessly the benefits of 3SRB, are yet asleep! It can take away all negativity and give precious energy to progress.

It is a reward unto itself but you all would prefer to remain asleep. i.e. be busy with your daily routine in preference to be aware of 3SRB.

It seems that the more one knows, the more one does not know. Our job is not necessarily to know, but to be. Awareness has degrees and you must find ways to increase it. Subjects like alchemy and science do not mean much compared to earning the path and seeking to remain awake.

People seem to forget and not understand that words are only symbols that point to silent reality. Symbol ceases to be important when we have discovered reality.

94

We penetrate the present by not thinking of ourselves by avoiding self indulgence. You must find other things interesting besides yourself. Otherwise we strive to keep up a frail and feverish being. We identify with trial events and perpetuate illusions of reality. It is painful to observe men as they are, because they are capable of grater achievements, yet they accomplish so little. If one does not keep moving towards one’s aim or goal to awaken and remain awakened, one is lost.

I understand you all, more than you do yourself, that your life is at stake and I love you all, so work more painstakingly. Ask again and again, I am awake or asleep, am I practicing 3SRB?

(1) Realising that one’s time is limited regarding of age and (2) Being repelled by one’s sleep; These are two precious thoughts for

increasing the value of remaining awake. Man has within him that which can suppress the galaxies. But you get ultimately what you want. Keep plunging in to the unknown knowing it is the only direction- Home

Time ceases physical phenomena. We can create moments that are out of time. Remaining awake cerates a timeless state. The other one becomes the more one favours slow growth. Man can escape time by transforming suffering. I do know that time does not exist for higher centres. The word immortality means just that. It is appealing to witness how people waste time, even after knowing that life is so short.

Death is something very few people talk about and fewer prepares for. Being awake alone can confront death. death is one way to see one’s nothingness. To be awake seems a flow in organic life on Earth. One must therefore make great and ceaseless efforts to remain awake throughout life, even in sleep at night. WE must gather our awareness at the moment of death, but how can this be possible to one has been asleep whole life.

We must study the idea of repetitions, i.e. cycles. To verify this one must study and one must remain awake. Credentials are deceiving and death is not impressed by them. But death is a live experience to one who has remained awake in life. Ordinary people are shocked in death.

95

Even humanity as a whole is not immortal and is periodically expunged by higher forces. The man who has remained awake all life is imperishable Most aged people creep towards death, helpless and complain in We at will die, but we must do our best to remain awake at all times and not complain and waste time but to transform and gain the ultimate experience - of the final act - of the death .

One may understand something clearly today and not comprehend it tomorrow because awareness has degrees. The more fully one understand that one is asleep, the more one will desire and make efforts to awake.

When one is awake, where one goes one knows not. One simply disappears, robbed by thief of day-dreaming or brooding. We are fortunate our body/brain system are so delicately structured that we can readily enter immortal realms! But the efforts are sadly wanting.

But Nature at the same time does not encourage one’s aim to awake and has arranged a variety of alluring deviations, otherwise awakening is a simple matter. We are like drunken man staggering towards our goal but on the way we fall innumerable times.

There are many lamps to guide one, one’s painful path, yet there are few who wish a light to penetrate their darkness.

One cannot have conscience without awareness. I mean not the awareness of a sleep state. Regarding one must work with what one has. Being present here is not your state of presence!

One positive aspect of great shocks they lift the veil and we see more, but this is true for those who do not buckle under. One is confused if one is not awake. If you do not want to awaken, you will stand in your way. The world want is not wish; it is great determination.

One must be sincere with oneself and know that one’s soul is in a vessel (body/brain system) and one must always remember that awakening is not for the vessel, but for the release of the Soul from the vessel. Nevertheless it amounts to the vessel being awake to thought of releasing of the Soul. Our many births have been mechanical, but at least let this or the next be a little conscious at least.

96

The intensity and duration of one’s work will determine the level of one’s development. When one attempts to awaken, the many mechanical ‘I’s will start taking control. Be firm. One may have an emotional realisation, but in order to understand one must be earned. We are all naive crucified innumerable times.

Take nothing seriously but your aim to awaken, do not count on anything but the present.

There can be awareness without function and is understandable. But when there are functions without awareness - this is mechanicalness, and is dreadful.

How can we learn to relax? We are not here necessarily to relax but to work on our selves. Do not take the wrong things seriously. Great attempts at esoteric knowledge, does not improve our awareness nor are we a little more awake.

“Nature holds up to God nothing so high as finished and perfected man.” Nature and higher forces cannot and do not give the gift of awakening to one who places himself first. There will be no need for me to be present here if some of you (very few) were not attempting to awaken, I say, make a total commitment to awakening.

When higher centres functions one is awake. The human body/brain system is a very complex structure that hardly anyone understand. But it has supreme potential. Do not be fooled looking at the primitive modern men.

Learning to bear discomfort produces by silence is a necessary step in one’s development. Awakening is mathematical. It calculates the efforts put in and the depth of sincerity. The very process of awakening alters one’s inner chemistry and one turns from being entirely mechanical. The intellectual centre cannot become awareness. We may describe and define, but awareness remains awareness.

The presence of higher centres is a gift of great value. It is because God and Nature has structured a human being in transcendence—if only he would

97

awake; And this would not be possible if one is thinking about one’s self. This is ordained.

One must be the fourth dimension to understand the fourth dimension. Time does not exist for higher centres.

Our future bodies will be nearly the same in future lifetimes, but our higher centres will progress and their progress will improve our bodies..

How tumultuous and pathetic our inner life is. The prism exercise is one of the best ways to stop the chaos, at least reduce it. We confuse the physical form with life. You will ultimately understand that the only thing that holds you back is yourself.

TAKE CONSTANT HELP OF THREE STEP RHYTHMIC BREATHING.

01-07-1993To make existence understandable; in a microscopic point Param Satyam filled this point with the state 0f existence, i.e. filled this tiny point with a substance, we call Cosmic Mind or Infinite Mind or Chittie.

This Cosmic Mind exerts immense mind-maya creative pressure of all that exists irrespective of size or intelligence. From human standpoint this Cosmic Mind is imaginable, very potent and all knowing within existence.

98

This tiny point, we understand as Brahmand where all the three universes, Bhuh, Bhuvah, & Swah float in this Cosmic Mind and always are under the mind - maya creative pressures.

But we consider this tiny point as immeasurable, billions of light years cannot measure or fathom, even this smallest of the three universes i.e. the Bhuh or physical universe.

It is in this tiny point-existence; that we talk of the three states, waking, sleep, and dream. Here we have the infinite pairs of the opposites, here we talks of the death and birth, here we have our religion, rites, ceremonies and philosophies.

Here we have the need of light, food, air, body, mind (individual) and all that we can feel, know and experience. Here we talk of duality, but all that we see, feel, experience, hold. Need, posses, is all under Cosmic Mind-maya-creative pressure; and it all appears to us as real so that we have never even doubted that it is so, because we all are under mind-maya Creative pressure through our individual cosmic mind.

But after ages of repeated though we still fail to realise that is all not-real, but transitory and not capable of making us really happy, sprene, and contended. But Advaita i.e. non-duality of Vedanta cannot accept anything other than----- PARAM SATYAM

The details of Advaita Vedanta thoughts are:

1). The nothing whatsoever is born in any way.

2). The non-dual , unchanging reality is Turiya, even giving it a name or quality is false understanding.

3). Ishvara the Gurudeva of the Yoga Sutra is equated with Turiya. It is not a fourth state over and above the three states experienced in Existence.

4). There is nothing prior to, nor anything after Param Satyam.

5). But Param Satyam is not void or nonentity. IT is Nothingness, Emptiness but is not nothing or empty.

6). There is no origination in any way whatsoever.

99

7). Concept of birth, causation, suggests duality, it is a false idea.

8). (Important) Human mind is afraid and/or is not yet developed to grasp this idea of Advaita.

9). Birth or death of anything is possible only through mind-maya creative pressure and not reality.

10). There is in truth no world or the universe. It is all an illusory manifestation due to Cosmic Mind-maya pressure.

11). All is Mithya and all is wrongly imagined

The question then arises, what is the cause of this existence that is appearing to all life as so real?

Satyam, diversifies the mundane things, turning His mind outward, so the shastras say. But this is an unsatisfactory reply for those who cannot accept, that existence does not exist.

The Self whenever conditioned by prakriti is the cause of the plural universe. Brahma, Self, when thus conditioned is called Ishvara. So cosmic mind-maya creative pressure are riddle to intellect. Brahma and Atman are not different from each other.

The pure Self each individual is the Absolute Satyam. Self by nature is pure, independent and free. Moksha i.e. liberation is the realisation; i.e.The individual discover the non-difference of the JIVA from ATMAN, the fullness of non-dual Being.

It is also the complete and final end of life realised, while in embodiment, rather than after death. Transcendence is the eternal nature of man. It is not something that has to be accomplished or attained to, something in future. Transcendence is a re-discovery of what is already there. It is through ” un-born knowledge”, that the “un-born self” is realised. It is not and never an intellectual concept.

The true Self is the core of the man. All this world and the Universe is perceived through the individual cosmic mind, a creation of cosmic mind-maya creative pressure. But when the individual cosmic mind ceases to play

100

and ceases to be mind (non-mind condition) duality is no longer perceived. Samadhi.

The body/mind complex of man is the finest laboratory for analysis and re-discovery in Advaita-Vedanta; provided it is clearly understood whether one would function as (1) body/brain complex or (2) as Atman.

We are all trying to mix up these two separate view points. Before we use the term (1) maya i.e. creative pressure & (2) reality, let us be clear as two how we want to function, (1) As body/mind complex i.e. the outer covering or (2) the Self.

The (1) i.e. covering is always under cosmic mind maya creative pressure-our normal life and experience is therefore unreal. Because if we see through a coloured glass we see a coloured world.

But the trouble arises when we do not want to live as body/mind complex because (1) we have been told or (2) we have read about it. The body/brain complex is always in one of the three states: (1) waking (2) sleep (3) Dream. It knows not any other state because the real state of Turiya belongs to ATMAN and so Atman is never beguiled by Cosmic mind-maya-creative pressure.

Body/brain complex works under awareness, the quality of cosmic mind (pure awareness) and so is the individual cosmic mind. This is duality, but what can we talk and about in this Bubble - i.e. Existence, Maintained by cosmic-mind-maya-creative pressure. If we can step out of this bubble, we shall not ever know or dream of duality.

This is the purpose of Yoga Sutra to help you to step out of the kingdom of cosmic-mind-maya - creative pressure. The question asked by Upanishad is : ” Is there in fact any fundamental single truth behind the plurality subsisting and cognised by experience all around us “ !!

We belong as Atman to creation. The existence because of the covering of body/brain complex we must find duality abounding on all our sides. There is no search or philosophy or religion that is needed; we must go back. This is the purpose of Yoga to help you to do so.

101

On the other hand, it is all possible and reasonable to say or to philosophise and

Gave scholarly arguments why we should not accept this dualistic state because it is all mithya, but anyone who has not experienced firsthand Turiya- has no right to say anything; for what can convey will argue about Advaita who accept Advaita on here say.

But the state we are talking about is not really the dissolution of subject/object complex, but only a dis - association. Pure consciousness is Turiya, i.e. Atman.

In Existence Atman find itself in a polluted atmosphere of duality. (though It does not experience duality. It has a mask, i.e. an outer covering and this covering ( body/brain system) accepts and does experience duality.

Ataman is never “Enmeshed” or “deceived” by Existence i.e. cosmic mind maya creative pressures because it is SATYAM. It is therefore witness, to the other three states of sleep, dream and so called waking.

Turiya by defining is negation of sense perception, the world of thoughts and ideas through the instruments of mind and intellect and other limited modes. All other states alternate and pass away but Turiya ever remains constant. It is changeless amidst change. It is always remain unaffected and unattached to this world play.

There can be no pure non - dual mind, even the cosmic mind itself. If it is non-dual, it ceases to be mind. Mind and maya are not two separate objects. No other magician called maya exists to beguile the mind. Cosmic mind is the magician that makes us perceive what is not real and believe it as real.

The sashtras use the words like “Unborn mind“ or “Non-mind”. No such things exists. It is weakness of language to express. Only cosmic mind in its myriad modes exist, moving, oscillating, vibrating and misguiding !

The truth of non-duality will always remain beyond intellectual comprehension because intellectual comprehension is mind and mind is dual and many faceted. With its help we can never approach the idea of Advaita or Turiya.

102

So this is the purpose of Yoga Sutra to help you to cross this ocean of confusion and reach the other shore.

Therefore the scriptures say “ which the individual has directed intuitive apprehension of ATMAN he transcends the limits of empirical knowledge,”

Mind is maya, cosmic mind is cosmic maya. So to experience even for the fraction of a moment the Reality- the Atman-Satyam; to realise that ‘I’ Reality, Atman and Satyam is all one ! one is then never the same person again. One has been Turiya and not has experienced Turiya.

If senses and mind are used, Then only this world and this universe are seen and experienced and life is lived for there is no other way.

How to de-link the senses and the mind and yet not be unconscious! If it is possible, we should be taught. So we turn to Yoga Sutra for guidance.

With understanding the meaning of moksha changes. At first it means freedom from suffering, bondage all the negative aspects of life .

Later it means to be authentic and to live life fully and completely without delusion, or restrictions of any sort, and that too here and now and it is not the redemption of an after death, because actually there is no death as we know it.

But, suddenly being enthusiastic, do not run away from life and sansara. You cannot run away from this world or this Univerase with a dualistic mind .

Be Sober, be rational and try to understand how the sutras wish one to go about.

You have to live a dualistic life in a dualistic world for millions of years; so you cannot undo it in hurry.

Nevertheless remember that it is not the disappearance of this world or the Universe, per se, but only the disappearance of a false out-look. It is a re-discovery. It is nothing but being established in one’s real Self.

But it would also be good to remember that the Self never becomes bound and so there is no real question of its bondage and need to attain release at any particular point in time.

103

“When ignorance is brought to an end, through non-association with things perceived, this is the great liberation.

MAHANIRVANA TANTRA SHASTRA:

“The Tantra is for all men of whatever caste and for all women. “

Kutarnava Tantra says “In Satya Yuga the shastra is Shruti, i.e. the Vedas and Upnishads, in the Tretayuga the shastra are the smriti, i.e. Dharma shastra, in the Dvarpayuga the shastras are Purana and in Kalyuga, the shastras are the Tantras. Kaliyuga is supposed to have begun from the year 312 B.C.

The Mahanirvana Tantra Shastra says, “That eternal, immutable, self Existence, which transcends the Turiya state and all the other states, is the unconditioned, Absolute, the Supreme Parabrahma, without mula Prakriti, or Prakriti, i.e. (Nishkala) and without the attributes of mula Prakriti or

104

Prakriti, i. e.(Nirguna) the “knowing subject,“ that can never be the object of cognition; is to be apprehend only through the Self ( Divine Fragment ) which is “ It Is. “

Spirit alone can comprehend or know spirit. Being beyond mind, senses, name, or form, the Para Brahma was and is called and known as “ That “ and then “Tat—Sat” i.e. “That which is.” The sun, Moon, stars and all the other visible and invisible objects are but a glimpse of light caught from “That which Is. “

Parabrahma i.e. param Satyam is both Nishkala and Sakala. Kala is mula prakriti or prakriti. Nishkala Brahman is “Tat “when considered without Mula Prakriti. It is called Sakala when with Prakriti. Satyam, Tapah, and Jana states of Parabrahman is Nishkala, i.e. without Prakriti, i.e. without gunas.

As the substance of Prakriti is the three gunas ( Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas ), it is then Saguna, as against the other state, Nirguna. Shakti potentially resides always, as light in the Sun. But the Shakti aspects of Parabrahma ( Tapah and Jana states ) is Absolute manifested, which produces creation and later Existence.

In the beginning there was ‘One’ i.e. Nishkala Brahman only existed. Then “It” created in a part of “Itself” Tapah and in Tapah state, Brahman manifested state, “It willed and became many.”

In this aspect i.e. Tapah the Absolute manifested state, “It” is the subject of worship, is meditated upon and - later with attributes i.e. Existence, as GAYATRI Maha Devi.

In fact to the Jiva ( i.e. body /brain system, i.e. with mind and senses, is the a bodied spirit as Brahman which now is worshiped with body and form. “ It “ is also embodied in the form of all the Devas and Devis and in the worshiper himself or herself. “ It “’s total form now is that of total Universe ( Bhuh-Bhuvah-Swah ) and of all things and beings therein.

From Brahman with Shakti, i.e. Tapah state, i.e. Absolute manifested state, issued Para Nada in the beginning. At the centre is Brahban with shakti and on the circumference is maya, i.e. tatal objective universe or celestial bubble.

105

When Tamoguna predominates in Bhuh, the Para Nada is of Vaikhari grade, when Rajoguna predominates in Bhuvah, the Para Nada is of Madhyama grade and when Sattvaguna predominates in Swah, the Para nada is of Pashyanti grade. This now is the starts wherein begins the play of Prakriti /Purusha. The action of Rajoguna on Tamoguna is to veil the spirit.

Shiva is variously addressed as, Sambhu, Sada-Shiva, Shankara and Maheswara which indicates qualities and particular states and manifestation of ‘One’ in “Its” descent, (i.e. Involution) towards many as vibrations fall.

Mula Prakriti i.e. Chittie or Universal Divine Mind or Infinite Mind is the primary and material cause of the total universe of names and forms, with mind, bodies and senses. Nature is the passage of descent from spirit to matter or ascent is from matter to spirit. Nature is dense veil of Spirit.

Mula Prakriti or Chittie is womb in to which Brahman casts a seed from which all things and all beings are created. This forms Existence or Celestial Bubble.

The womb thrills to Rajoguna and the equilibrium, balance and rhythm of the three gunas is distributed and they are in varied and myriad combination and in the condition the gunas pervade and prevail in all that is created, including Man, in the total objective universe.

The unrevealed Prakriti i.e. Chittie, is the state of stable equilibrium, balance and rhythm of the three gunas. In this state, no Existence can take place of any type. Only when this balance state is disturbed, Existence from Swah to Bhuvah takes place and depending on how much such balance equilibrium is disturbed, the total universe in its varied forms appears and all the objects therein, including all life. He three gunas is some combination prevail and form the structure of all life and form including that of human beings.

Mula Prakriti or Chittie is the source of Brahman, Vishnu, Shiva in the Bubble Celestial also!! Once this equilibrium is disturbed it takes billions of years to come back to equilibrium, balance and rhythm, both in the case of the total universe, as well as in the case of a human being; unless the higher aspects of Yoga Abhyasa are practiced

106

The objects of Tantrik Sadhana is to bring out the Sattvaguna in prominence, with the help of Rajoguna and ultimately bring about total balance, rhythm and equilibrium of the three gunas. Mukti is possible for a human being only then and for the total universe also it is mukti with total rhythm, balance and equilibrium.

The subtle body of the Jiva is composed of buddhi, manas and ahamkar and senses. This subtle body creates for itself the gross physical body suited to the spiritual state of the jiva in the physical ( Bhuh) universe.

Under the influence of Prabdha Karma, buddhi becomes tamsic or rajsik or sattvic. At first the jiva assumes tamsic body then later rajsic body and finally sattvic body in upward evolution path. The jiva experiences an admixture of sorrow, and happiness, normally more sorrow than happiness. As progress is made, the gross body becomes more and more refined. For the reason, the human birth is for spiritual purpose and progress only. This is also known as sufficiency of Grace.

Knowledge of Existence can be gained by one-pointed meditation on the solar nerve. Sushumna is in the hollow of the cerebro spinal axis and supposed to be in the form of fire (Vahni-svarupa) and has within the Vajrini Nadi in the form of the Sun (or solar)

Svarga (Heaven) and Narka (Hell) are mere conditions of virtue and vice in an individual. Please note, it is not good action alone, but the knowledge of Atman (Divine Fragment) which procures mukti. i.e. liberation. Mere good actions procures repeated good births only.

Hindu deeper thoughts, know nothing or say about a Hell of external punishment. To the Hindu mind nothing is permanent except Satyam, i.e. Parabrahman

“As all streams flow into the world ocean , so the worship given to any Devas is received by Brahman”

All Devas are subject to time and karma. “salutation to karma, over which not even (Vidhi), i.e. Brahman prevails.

107

The human body/brain system (jiva) is consider as Brahman Pura and the Maha vakya says “That thou art“ this body of jiva has five sheaths or layers, Anna maya, Prana maya, Manomaya, Jnanmaya and Anandmaya, Sambhog kaya and Dharma kaya.

“Thus garmented with five sheaths, the Lord i.e. Divine Fragment, though all pervading, appears as though He were Bound and limited by them”.

It is not the physical body/brain system that is the cause of re-birth, but the subtle body, the astral body - karan Sharira is the cause of the re - birth in to a fresh gross physical body

As long as the Jiva is associated with ignorance i.e. Avidya of some sort , it is not the Supreme spirit. Beyond Turiya state is the fifth state of transcendence which attained through Samadhi yoga and is a state without name, form, mind and senses. The fourth state Turiya is Sudha Vidya - the realistic state of a Maha Yogi.

The Mahanirvana Tantra shastra further informs us that above the Ajna is another secret chakra called manas chakra, It is a lotus of six petals, i.e. higher faculty of hearing, touch, sight, smell, taste and sleep or the absence of these as required.

Above (i.e. Superior to) this chakra is Kala chakra of (16) petals signifying mercy, dispassion, constancy, propriety, cheerfulness, dispassion, humility, meditation, gratitude, effort, seriousness, emotionlessness, magnimity, and concentration. Without the development of this chakra DHARNA AND DHYANA IS NOT POSSIBLE.

Above (i.e. Superior to) this chakra is what we called the house without support, where the yogi can see the radiant Ishvara the Gurudeva, i.e. The divine Fragment.

Above (superior to) this Pranava shining like a flame and above pranava is Nada is Bindu - these are all sacred and secret chakras not normally spoken about,

Gayatri is the most sacred mantra of all vaidik mantra.

108

“ In it the Veda lies embodied in seed.”

23-09- 1993.From book III re-arranged onwards, besides purely rational explanation some other explanation will also be needed and such explanation may not meet with the discoveries of Science and so may not seem strictly rational.

To-day prana can be described as a kind of electro-magnetic field, but different grades of prana will tomorrow be described as more sophisticated fields having measurable influence and so requiring new laws of physics to explain?

But in meantime Yoga and shastras may not sound quite rational & scientific. But can we wait for science and refuse to speak out in terms in which we can possibly make ourselves understandable.

109

Finding such new fields, science will have to adopt special terms and may find that certain laws of physics like Law of thermo - dynamics would not fit in, eg. the astral beings and astral planes or mental beings and mental planes i.e. what is memory by Bhuvah and Swah universes & krilian photography also will be replaced by much more sophisticated photography.

The day is not far for science because in the coming 70-100 years science will have to explain astral planes and astral beings. Science will have to explain how astral being can pass through thick walls and locked doors and can survey on special grade of prana for food; and many come up with say , electro bio -plasma fields etc.

In one of our earlier notes we had mentioned about the organic memory of cells, If what science says about them to hold good, then there will be no way to improve and change memory and so evolution would not be possible.

If each new cell were to be only a Xerox of the old & dying cell the future is blocked and hopeless.

Because it is the cell evolution that permits the individual’s evolution and as we are talking about the inner evolution it is all the more essential to know about this fact ; If cells do not evolve from animal like cells to human like cells and go beyond, man will remain an animal in human form.

In the same notes we have also stated that Darvin had found such change in cell evolution and at a times a quantum jump in evolution of species. The shastras say that in all life including a cell, there is awareness and awareness implies intelligence. This inner evolution belongs to the individual and it does not matter if the cell is a brain cell, an organ cell, a tissue cell or a muscle cell.

The shastras further states that the evolutionary school is not the brain or the minor brains throughout the body, but is (1) the pair of lungs together with the diaphragm and this (1) is the duplication of (2) viz. The state subsisting in the primary or astral body in the region of perineum and hence both these area viz. (1) & (2) in the two bodies unless they work in co-ordination and rhythm the inner evolution is possible, because in the physical body in the lungs the breath comes and goes out in the primary body the

110

prana comes in at the perineum and Ida and Pingla which start from this area takes in prana and flow out of left and right nostril respectively.

By a particular mode of rhythm and technique these two areas viz. (1) & (2) are co - ordinate and move in rhythm, all cells of the blood reaching the lungs and all cells reaching the perineum receives with each intake of breath and prana receive a rhythm and over many repetitions over a period, the cells themselves learn this rhythm and breath with the same rhythm and when the blood reaches away pore in organs, brain, tissues, nerves, and muscles over a period of time also learn this rhythm and the whole body/brain system pulsate to this rhythm and likewise also happens in the primary or astral body.

Bhakti yogis prefer to impose the vibrations of a particular japa (normally given by Guru) on the cells to bring about a similar result. So if we can combine the rhythm of breath to prana and also the rhythm of japa (That can be recited and fitted in the rhythm of the breath) and can be recited with the same rhythm of japa, we would progress much faster; otherwise if rhythm of japa and breath and prana coincides we would encounter great resistance from the cells themselves because they would be confused by different rhythms.

Such a beautiful combination is possible. With the three step rhythmic breathing, with the breathing in we recite “RADHE“ and with the outgoing breath we recite “KISHNA” or “SHYAM.” WE take help of both the breathing and japa rhythms because the breathing and japa in this case co–inside.

Thus through rhythmic breathing and other techniques we increase the awareness of cells and slowly over a period reach a critical point in our evolution and cell is or cells are able to establish subjective communication which differs from the objective communication of the science, viz. Telephone, fax etc.

This subjective communication is possible of development in all life, more so in a human being. When this subjective communication spreads and reaches the right brain areas, it will re-generates and make active the dormant

111

centres and these centres are then able to establish subjective communication with other human beings and then with Chittie, or the Divine Mind of God in Existence and later still with the Divine Fragment within each individual and this the only way to live on this planet as a human being.

But, science does not accept either the Infinite Mind Chittie, the mind of God in Existence nor the Divine fragment within each individual and so has to plod along objective communication system. And so inner progress brings about mutation in cell life for a much more higher state of awareness alternately reaching the pure awareness.

When this happens normal organic memory of each cell keeps up-grading and changes enormously for better. Inner evolution is also automatic but, in that case extremely slow and will require eternity and hence the need of advanced yoga abhyasa as shown Saga Patanjali in Yoga sutra.

In another note we had mentioned, “How top delink the senses the individual mind, and brain and yet not be unconscious.” In our daily life we have to make use of our individual mind, brain and the senses to be aware in this world and to be able to survive and experience life. So if we delink, our senses, brain and individual mind we necessarily becomes unconscious hence great aims of remaining conscious after delinking. It is an advance practice under a Guru.

In Yoga Sutra Book III, re-arrange page 239; 1 (22) “in respect to the attainment of true spiritual consciousness there is yet another way.” Normally of the individual mind brain and senses get delinked it is the moment of death. So how to remain conscious and which part of our complex human structure can remain conscious at this moment is to be ascertain. Such a state normally is the final exit, i.e. actual death or an identical state of high Yoga practises of conscious death known as a state of “clinical death” which no doctor can pronounce as death. As there is no breath or pulse and so what does remain conscious at this moment and is able to communicate this experience of “death” to the conscious brain.

Such experience communicated to the brain is like a dream in sleep because the brain during this experience is unconscious. In book IV, rearrange 1 (38) “peace can be reach through meditation on the knowledge which dreams

112

give”. Such dreams and such knowledge and practices are stated in the Sutras.

The primary body can or does remain conscious with it’s manas because in the state of a clinical death, the “Sutra” connecting to the primary body to the physical body is not snapped or broken as in “actual death,” where primary also is unconscious, and brain are in the state of “clinical death” only.

This is the state of Samadhi with seed, This stage gives freedom from Bhuvah, as well as bhuh, Universes with nits corresponding manas / maya creative pressure. And individual brain/maya creative pressure.

So we have to aspire for the stage of Samadhi without seed. The seed is cosmic mind/maya creative pressure. So here we have to lay aside the primary body /manas system also besides the physical mind/body system, and remain in our DharmaKaya or mental body.

This was the natural state of Buddha in existence when he was on this planet! Does Nirvana mean to be free from DharmaKaya / Buddhi/maya creative pressure as well!! Such is the Samadhi without seed.

In book V (Part I page 292) states “when through the removal of hindrances and the purification of all the sheaths (all the three bodies) The totality of knowledge becomes available, naught further remains further man to do.

This inner evolution is strictly a conscious individual effort and progress is brought about and the organic memory of cells is sufficiently upgraded and higher awareness destroys the ailments and disease and / or primitiveness of the cells and memory is enriclud.

If these were not to happen not a single human being will ever climb the spiritual heights. This inner evolution of cells is brought about by practices. Here constantly established 3 SRB will pave the way for a new life.

However most of you feel (as I gather from your talk with me), that in such a long time there seems to be no progress at all. Remember cells learn and unlearn very slowly due to the obstruction created by organic memory in them and so you to take time to learn and unlearn. In this regard I quote

113

below the famous lines – memorise them : “Say not; the struggles naught availeth,

The labour and the wounds are vain

The enemy faints not not faileth

And things have been as they remain.”

04-11-1993

We have been to our notes of 23rd September and we find that there we are talking about ‘Cell’ evolution within our body/brain system and how it is related to the inner evolution of individual. We shall now talk in detail about ‘Cell’ evolution related to the individual’s inner evolution.

Mother Earth, has six thousand million cells i.e. six billion cells that are fairly intelligent and some few amongst them even take part in constructive work. But by and large, except these few the rest are still very wild and animal like.

The Earth is Itself spinning towards internal evolution and sincere efforts of these six billion cells towards their own evolution will make the task of the Earth easier because they are fairly intelligent and capable; but serious, conscious and relentless efforts are wanting.

114

Besides these six billion (human) cells, there are trillions upon trillions of cells of lesser lives buy these all put together cannot help, for they are unable to do anything consciously as far as inner evolution is concerned and as far as their outer evolution is concerned, Earth is doing her best.

Also please note that the entire Universe is evolving and each galaxy, each sun, each solar system is together also evolving.

These six billion (human) cells, the humanity on Earth has a co-relation With Earth but these (human) cells are still fast asleep and do not know what is good for them (Jagrati) and how best they can co-operate with this wonderful planet Earth. These human cells can progress faster if they can breath in with the rhythm of the Earth.; Just as we expect, the billions of cells in our body/brain system to synchronise their breathing and rhythm to our breathing and rhythm. This is the wisdom of our shastras - (vidya) but we are totally oblivious of this thought, due to our avidya.

The main rhythm of Earth is found in the body of the oceans that form the major part of the Earth’s surface and where rhythm can be noticed . 1,2,3, - 5,6,.

We have always the past referred to this rhythm of the ocean whenever we have talked about three step rhythmic breathing -- 3SRB. Just as Earth, in her own way looks after us and protects us and expect that we do synchronise our rhythmic breathing to her rhythm; so we in turn now expect our billions of cells to synchronise their breathing to our individual rhythm.

But we must first aware of the fact :

(1) That we are ourselves responsible for our own inner evolution and must consciously work in that direction with “tireless endeavour” as the sutra says.(2) After we are aware and work consciously and regularly we shall receive all the help we need. All that is expected from us is sincere conscious “Tireless Endeavour “

Now when we become aware and now that we follow 3SRB with the music of tape; we realise that our own billion of cells have to be made aware and helped to start work on our own individual rhythm.

115

We have also noted in the notes of 23rd September meeting that the evolutionary school for the cells is not the brain or the minor brains but it is (1) the pair of lungs with the diaphragm ( and we realise why it is so ) and this (1) is the duplication of (2) viz. The condition prevailing in the primary body, (the astral body/manas system) in the region of the perineum and hence both these areas viz. (1) & (2) in two bodies, unless they work in co-ordination and rhythm, no inner evolution is possible. This rhythm is mire natural to the astral body/manas system then to the physical body / brain system because that body is more subtle and sensitive than the physical body.

If this is the wisdom of the shastras we have to impose this rhythm on ourselves i.e. practice 3SRB and practice at different cycles i.e. 12, 18, and 36 to connect and develop and then establish and co-ordinate in the both bodies. But at first we must establish 3SRB at normal twelve cycles per minute in the lungs with the proper movement of the diaphragm.

We refer to the notes of 23rd September, page (3) first para which reads has, “By a particular mode of rhythm and technique these two areas (1) and (2) (earlier stated) are co-ordinated and move in rhythm. All the cells of the body reaching the lungs and all the cells reaching the perineum receive with each breath and intake of prana, a rhythm also and over or after some millions of repetition over a long period, the cells themselves learn this rhythm( and new cells replacing the old cells learn from their ancestors.) and then when the blood reaches every pore of the organs, tissues, brain, nerves and muscles over a long period, the cells at those place also learn this rhythm (and likewise also happens in the astral body/manas system.”

Here arise two question (1) to-day what is the condition in our two bodies at the areas mentioned (1) and (2). (2) with practices, tomorrow, if rhythm is generated and co-inside in both the bodies what should take place in an individual? The reply to (2) is : this state enables him or her to reach the true

116

state of pratyahara, without which dharna, dhyana are never possible. This is the practical step to “Education for attention” and preparing one for yoga-sutra of sage Patanjali.!

Here again we refer to the notes of 23rd September page 6, “So if we de-link our senses, brain and individual mind we necessarily become unconscious the great aim of remaining conscious after a de-link. It is an advanced practice under guru”

“Normally if the individual mind, brain and senses get de-linked it is the moment. So how to remain conscious and which part of our complex system can remain conscious at this moment to be ascertained”. This is the state of pratyahara.

But at least 12-18 months should be given hole-heartedly to the practice of 3SRB and to see that you devote more than 8 hours of 3SRB daily simultaneously carrying out is our normal obligation and one is really ready for phase exercises

Now we shall take up some logical questions arising from this situation to make our brain and mind clear.

(1) Organic cell memory should (appear because this memory is sub-human and will hinder inner evolution of the individual. Yes. With proper practices over a long period organic memory changes for the better. If no special practices are followed over a long period- the organic memory of cells do not change for a millions of years.

(2) Is cell evolution a distinct aspect to individual is inner evolution? Cell evolution is distinct but not a separate evolution itself.

(3) Can such a progress (of the cell and of the individual continue indefinitely? WE are in a physical universe, what the shastras call Bhuh and our present humanity is at sub-stage four (early). Inner evolution of cells, as well as the inner evolution of the individual has to progress up to the seventh

117

sub-stage of Bhuh. In the normal course of evolution it will take eternities but individual can press forward consciously and achieve a faster progress.

This is possible though one is in physical form. This is the central idea of Yoga Sutra.

(4) Will such conscious evolution telescope in to astral awareness and progress? A stage is reached in sub-stage five Bhuh both in normal course of evolution or brought about consciously by an individual by serious practices, there and then, continuous evolution of the cell and individual reaches take off stages of pratyahara and from there onwards the states of dharna and dhyana can be practiced this leads to the knowledge and experience of astral body/manas system and astral planes of Bhuvah. Such advanced practices bring about higher state of awareness, perception and spiritual reading making it possible to see through opaque objects and prepares one for conscious death and then conscious birth

(Q.5)Can the two body systems, secondary and primary be aware of each other due to the evolutionary progress brought about consciously? We have noted earlier that one becomes aware of astral body and astral planes so the two bodies not only become aware of each other but can function in full co-ordination.

(Q.6) Do these two bodies depends on each other or can either function alone? The primary can function alone at this stage for some length of time, but the secondary cannot function alone by itself for a minute. The two depend on each other and co-ordinates.

(Q.7)How far does evolution for “cell” and for the individual stretch in physical condition? Any individual can continue inner evolution (and so the cell evolution) to be able to function in the astral universe in the astral body; the physical body even remaining conscious and able to register the astral

118

experiences and at the stage of dhyana (wrongly translated as meditation and so glibly and light heartedly talk, sitting cross legged and eyes closed.)

(Q.8)Are there different roads to the same goal? There are different roads to the same goal and many individuals depending on individual’s tendency select the road. Most roads first end in psychic powers- which is nothing but development astral of essence and sense organs, but it would be folly to stop here and enjoy or play with psychic powers, because further progress is denied by Nature’s laws and the individual will have to begin from the beginning. But almost all, like “Namckara” which they receive for exhibiting some “ Chamatkara.”

(Q.9)What is the path of total evolution? When one reaches and establishes firmly in dhyana stage, one is ready for the final two vital steps; (a) Samadhi with seed and (b) Samadhi without seed which is the perfection of inner evolution whilst still in a physical form. One. Then is able to develop mental body/buddhi system and function in Dharmakaya and can experience Bhuh-Bhuvah –Swah, the three Lokas at will.

The Divine Fragment can then be free from all the three Kayas viz. Nirmankaya, Sambhogkaya, and Dharmakaya and can merge with Divine Wholeness; This is the true and final mukti.

After an individual reaches the state of pratyahara (as explained earlier) internal communication are possible as well as communication with other individuals who have reached a similar state of inner evolution – At this stage of inner evolution one can see as clearly the inside of one’s physical body as one can see the outside physical body..

One can also perceive one’s own astral body and clearly the inside structure of the astral body and see other people’s astral body as well as see inside of physical and astral body of others.

Without experiencing this state of pratyahara one cannot even hope for the state of dharna and dhyana and so meditation is never possible.

119

Now comes the most vital and sensitive part of the understanding of yoga sutra. Yoga sutra does not directly mention anything about asana or japa but much is stated between the lines. Does japa helps ? What part does japa play ? Does it also creat ‘noise’ in the brain, like normal word, dialogues and internal dialogues, by way of brooding and/or day dreaming ? What beneficial effects can it have and under what condition ? If those vital questions are answered it will take a long way.

Whatever we have stated in the notes of 23rd September, was by way of general information. Whenever and wherever an individual is ready, the remarkable things about this “being ready“ is that the individual is not aware but certain lines on the face, imperceptible lines on the face appears and master notice it - this lines can never go unnoticed-they make soundless sound and only master can hear and see -they also tell how much is the individual ready for and then the master contacts and lead that person. The unprepared search for a master and for a guru mantra - as if master and mantra are vegetables for sale!!

Guru mantra means to be ready, but many thinks they are ready and many are self appointed masters or guru- the blind leading to blind. “Hold fast to that which has neither substance nor existence. Listen only to the voice which is soundless.“

Nevertheless the vibrations created by japa if pronounced automatically-mentally will by itself creates condition of relative quiet and one is prepared for receiving communication not from but through the individual mind. Chittie (a) another individual (b) master or guru (c) chittie the mind of god the Brahmanda - or existence.

1) Can take place after 15-20 births of serious one-pointed ceaseless efforts.

2) Can then take place after another 15-20 births, and

120

3) Can take place after some 100 0r more births. On the cosmic clock it may be one minute-on human clock 100,000 years or more.

Do not be dismayed. Every day you are nearer to it.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

And many scholars think they understand yoga sutra. !

16-12 1993

On reading the notes of earlier meetings, some of you may have in your mind the misunderstanding that the purpose of the individual mind and the cosmic mind is to create mind maya creative pressure so that what experienced by the outgoing senses and brain is false and under the pressure of maya we enjoy these objects.

So it is customary to ask one to turn inward and realise the truth, the reality; as if truth or reality does not exist external to our selves ! Something complicated and of this nature is more or less understood or misunderstood at all levels. Some of us philosophise and some of us do not, some assume a spiritual posture and some do not.

121

So what is correct ? There can be only two aspects of to consider (1) Dwaita or the natural changes constantly taking place around us and (2) Adwaita the fact of total unity in spite of all apparent changes taking place and commonly attributed to maya.

But Brahman i.e. the eternal principle posses a nature of It’s own. Brahman has created and evolved the universe and human being and the universe and the human beings are moving from one level or stage to another level or stage-some may say lower to higher.

This movement has become possible for the Universes as well as for the human beings because, behind each and every stage the Eternal Principle - Brahman is present and actively present.!!

But those who have realised this truth that the underlying Eternal Principle -Brahman – is untouched and unaffected by the evolving multiplicity of changes, do not regard these changes as something separate apart and independent from Brahman or The Eternal Principle and do not look upon these changes taking place continually i.e. the arising and passing away of all things, as to many independent and self sufficient things; complete in themselves; not even the total universe Itself.

So there is no reason to reject the manifest changes or the manifested changing universe and / or our world. So there is no conflict or doubt between Dwaita and Advaita aspects.

The falsity only comes in ; if you regard the nature of the underlying cause, Eternal Brahman as actually lost or converted in these effects emerging from It; as if It has become something other than Itself; as if the underlying Brahman the Eternal Principle has actually converted Itself in to the various external change .

It is only under the influence of Advaita and not under the influence of Maya, (which actually does not exist), we forget the Reality of the underlying changes; as if the casual reality has become something other than its own nature.

122

Until this is completely realised, the End through future; must be held to be present in the nature of the cause i.e. the past.

One cannot deny the striving towards the future End (Purpose.) so it is necessary for the End to realise completely that it has to pass through certain modifications and transformation, or stages, but the future End is present throughout the successive changes and stages and it reside in the past.

If you say future is unreal, then the cause i.e. Brahman is also unreal i.e. would itself become unreal! The future therefore operates in the present. This power which underlies, i.e. The Eternal Principle, work in all changes and gives continuity to everything and is above them all. So no effect can be treated as something distinct and separate from the underlying cause.

It is the same law that works for the Universe as it works for a human being. At all stages that we speak of sanskara - the definition being ‘The latent, self re-productive, impressions of the past acts of Dharma and Adharma manifesting, itself at the commencement of the present births

Sanskara : Every man is born with a psychological disposition. In this disposition are to be found imbedded all his natural instinct and habits, his love and hatred, his pleasure and pain, his appetites and passion and his entire stock of impulses and desires.

He is a receptable (a vessel) of all the race experience, also together with his past impressions lying deep within him in a latent form, ready to rise up to the surface at a slightest notice and this forms his memory- past and present.

This is the individual’s nature and this determine the individual and his actions. It is owing to this disposition that a person has likes and dislikes for certain sense organs and so from early childhood betraying natural attachment and enjoyment of objects and whilst some develop natural aversion to such objects.

This detailed statements we have described earlier as a person’s structure with a spectrum of minimum and maximum and individual cannot act beyond this limit in either direction.

123

Can this psychological disposition change? In other words can the structure change? Left this itself in its natural course, it will change by fraction of a centimetre in about hundred thousand years. But by some purposeful conscious and methodical efforts it could change rapidly!!

This conscious change by conscious efforts is Yoga abhyasa and the practical aspects of this abhyasa is Yoga sutra of Sage Patanjali. What have the shastras to say on this subject?

“Nature, sanskara is the tendency in living being acquired by them in past births ready to yield its effect and this Nature is the source of gunas (quality) it being impossible for gunas to manifest themselves without a cause. When desire arises, it rouses rajas guna and urges a person to act “This is the undisciplined animal nature in man.

Thus a person is born with a fund of animal impulse and inclinations which are the sources of his tendencies to activates. One is born subject to desires, love, hatred, etc. Which colour his nature. So man at the beginning is no better than an animal. He is yet not a self- conscious being. He is simply aware of certain feelings aroused in him in consequence of his (memory), naturally rising and demanding their satisfaction, moving him towards or repelling from as the case may be and this will happen even when he is reciting japa or sitting in meditation.

These, impulsive movements are always accompanied by pleasure or pain. In fulfilling these impulses he fulfils his entire life’s purpose. A person is completely at the memory of such impulses. This is the self . The action involving movements of the body, sense organs, brain, are necessarily mechanical, determined by and are the results of their earlier life actions. None of these present life action can therefore be classed as “free “even though it may be appear that we have acted under our full awareness.

In such a life, it is evident, that is no purpose, no end, no aim and no regulation. A person drifts without a compass and anchor. Living under such a cloud, we cannot know what is right and cannot choose the right path.

124

The sashtras say, “ And it needs no saying that to such man whose intellect is thus empowered by passions of desires and aversion there cannot arise a knowledge of innermost self,” Any amount of reading and / or hearing does not help.

But the sashtras also ask thus : “ But is this whole man? Is man’s environment with impulses within- the sole determinant? Is there no other nature higher in man than this animal nature? Is there no inner unity underlying these manifold impulses an instincts which is or can be the true source of his actions?”

What a man speaks and acts is not the ‘whole’ It is wrong to identify man with all these. All this is not equivalent to what man is in his “essence”. What he feels, thinks, and doesn’t falls infinitely short of what is possible!! He is not the sum total of his feelings, impulses, habits gathered in past. Divine Essence is revealed and powerless concealed in him the outer mask that is man.

The Divine Essence is Atman- The Divine Fragment that he is in fact but is in man only- individually.

If he desires to gain the supreme end by methodical means and knowledge; he can progress on the path. Here “Yoga Sutra” are of immense help to him. This is his choice and his birth right- but whether he would exercise?!

But in this connection it is found that in case of some it is a matter of “ he could if he would “ and so never make up his mind and in other cases it is “ He would if he could “ and so is never possible.

Because of this possibility and his choice, man is held responsible for his thoughts and actions, Because in case of all other life creatures, it is not possible to do otherwise than, what is dictated by its nature. An infinite possibility for “Devil” or “evil” is always present only in man.

It is the inner power and possibility that can take man step by step to the ultimate realised state,. But for this hap[pen, he must be aware of his inner possibilities and then methodically and consciously apply himself. A man’s

125

present life is this possibility!! whether he would yet remain indifferent and in mindful - a great calamity indeed. !

What all the movements and activities are for, is not generally co-ordinate to the movements and activities within. Other than this activities and movements is the Divine Fragment which and what of help of this Divine Fragment we can make our outer activities meaningful. But it calls for communication.

For what use to these aspirations, efforts and actions go on? There value do not in that way exist alongside of Atman or Divine Fragment, but what use does Atman brings about.

All these activities of the organism will entirely lose their value. There is the Divine Fragment within, other than these movements and activities. Here we quote in relation to this thought from Yoga sutra book II (18) “that which is experienced has three qualities, it consists of the element & the sense organs. The use of these produce experience & also eventual liberation.”

Suppose no Atman or Divine Fragment is individually present behind these activities, then only these activities are working but there is no purpose to regulate them. An absure consequence will follow. Nobody is present whose purpose they serve.

The world with all its changing element is moving for the realisation of the Final End.

But when I decide to take the first step on the path-or whenever I decide to do this or that who is or what is behind the decision? The human organism i.e. the body/brain/mind system or the Divine Fragment?

Whenever the ‘I’ is self or whenever the ‘I’ self makes the difference in our decision but as stated earlier- it all calls for communication- at many different levels.

I want you to be good, but the ‘I’ is not linked to the self and so correct step or decision cannot be taken (in the absence of communication) and so the

126

false ‘I/ (self) takes the false step. To understand and to know and be able to link this self to the self and receive the guidance is the study of Yoga Sutras.

CONSCUOUS MIND SLEEPING BRAIN

OR

I OBSERVED WHILE I SLEEP.

I). Conscious sleep presupposes the attentive relaxation as the first step, where in mind is alert but the body is deeply relaxes. For this you have been performing a series of short exercises which consist of hardening/tensing for

127

3 - 5 seconds some part of the body and then relaxing it, with the mind fixed on that part.

II) The suryoday and syryast practices for five minutes (to begin with) soon after waking up and for five minutes just before going to bed, mentally

repeat ‘Om Satyam Param Dhimahi’ to the rhythm of normal 3SRB, one japa every breath. This is not a japa (given to you) but the bij (seed) of all japas, and of the bij you have been given the essence the bij. Param Satyam is your Divine Fragment and by to daily calling practice you are starting a relationship that is going to be real and exhilarating and helpful as change your entire life for the better. To begin with, and to gain confidence, before beginning the practice you are to present your problems and your weaknesses, and you will be guided. Approach and enter in to this practice with humility and the result is guidance. Nut this is not the purpose the practice- this is preliminary work to actual practice. But this practice must be meaningful, the value you attach to it will mean success or failure.

Note Sutara (14) ‘when the object to be gained is sufficiently valued and efforts towards its attainment are persistently followed without intermission......” continue this practices diligently and with great intensity for at least six months, after which you come to the practice of conscious sleep.

III) Falling asleep consciously involves retaining awareness while awkefulness is lost, by daily practice the quality and steadiness of awareness is upgraded. It allows direct entry in to sleep state without any loss of wakeful awareness, though the physical body sleeps peacefully. While falling asleep. The next thing you know you will find yourself in the astral world. But these are not normal dreams.

The difference is between wakeful initiated dream state (WID - experience of Bhuvah) and dream initiated dream in which people fall asleep unconsciously In WID there are brief awakening of one having been awake deeper sleep states (higher levels of Bhuvah ) in case of WID takes place as night advances; they may even occur in afternoon naps.

128

While lying bed, gently close your eyes. Relax and maintain 3SRB for a minute. If sleep comes over, try gently to keep the eyes open. Only proper sleep will force the eyes to close. Keep to the practice of ‘Om Satyam Param Dhimahi’ Let the sleep overpower and fall asleep keep in mind the experience of the other body and then the operation will be experienced in that expectation of sleep.

If you focus on your body while falling asleep you will sometimes notice in which it seems to undergo extreme distortion and begin to shake, or become completely paralysed. In this state your eyes will have rapid eye movements (REM). You may awaken from REM sleep paralyses condition, a natural and easy entry point in to WID. Do not struggle or panic; it is harmless. Simply relax and it will pass away. Whenever you experience sleep paralyses, you are on the threshold of REM sleep. Brain about sleep paralyses by focusing on all your physical body in sleep paralyses; you are ready for your other body to float out. Have your own test on this state.

What you, the body/brain system will learn is pure knowing - PARAM SATYAM is the real YOU ----- Which is so totally different that a book or person or external guru cannot give. But set explicit and specific goals towards this pure knowing. Conscious sleep is both a mental as well as psychic performance, so you have to set for yourself difficult but realistic goals. Record and evaluate progress, with total humility to say it is.

Goal/step I : Separation of the astral body from the physical, and to be convinced that it is not mere philosophy but a fact of life. No pre-conceived ideas, because this is pure knowing----set aside all that you have heard or read, it will come in the way of your pure knowing. Let the bodies separate and unite a few times in sleep and let this be registered in the registration area of the brain. The techniques, the modality and details of operations will be repeated. Then on awakening write down in details. Repetition for some time is necessary to confirm the techniques and details and to get proficiency in the process. These are difficult final step of life culminating in immorality. One is normally asked to remain awake, but if one has not mastered this practice one cannot remain awake even in daytime. Step by step we are earning immortality and death is first confronted and then by-passed.

129

IV).The formal practice : Get up early in the morning to complete the refining exercises by 6.00 A. M. Then sitting comfortably crossed legs on the floor,

mentally chant one mala (108 repetitions) of Gayatri Mantra for 18 minutes to the rhythm of normal 3SRB, one repetition fitting into two breath or 10 seconds.

Om, Bhuh — Bhuvah — Swah

Tatas vitur varenyam

Bhargo devasya dhimahi,

Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat.

At the end of this, lie down on your back and cover yourself with a sheet. Now go through your entire body as if it is a hollow bamboo (Shavayatra) relaxing each part as you touch it with your awareness and leaving in starting from the tips of your toes and fingers through the limb, up through the torso and in to the head area, ending at Ajna, the point of registration area mid way between and a little eyebrows..This will bring about the condition of sleep paralysis. Just be in this state of bare waiting pratiksha --- and try to be aware of dreams. If sleep overcomes, turn on your right side and go to sleep.

(Alternately) you can start at Ajna and work downward through the body right up to the extremities, toes, and fingers, end up visualizing a black dot at swadhisthan, the point meeting the genitals organ and torso. This has tremendous effect on the retaining of semen and the transformation.

V). Phases of sleep which leads to REM and sleep paralysis :

Stage 1. The flow of sensory input slows down, there is a transition from drowsy wakefulness to light sleep----drifting eye movements, vivid brief dreams lets or images ( Hypnotic memory ) you pass through this stage normally very quickly.

130

Stage 2. Bonafied sleep. Unique brain wave patterns called ‘sleep spindles ; mental activity is spares, mundane and thought like.

Stage 3. After 2o minutes or so of stage 2 you pass into stage 3 called ‘Delta Sleep, so named after regular slow brain waves, waves that characterize this sleep or quiet sleep. Hardly any dream content.

You linger in delta sleep or deep sleep for about 30—40 minutes, then you return to stage 2 and about 70—90 minutes after stage 1 started you come near to level of stage --- but you sleep into REM or dream sleep for the first time since you went to sleep. After a brief period of 10 minutes in REM (in which there could be a brief awakening, when you remember a dream) you sink back to stage 2 and then in to stage 3, coming back for a period of REM. This sequential process goes on through the night approximately every 90 minutes. Only the REM period increases to where they are as long as 30—40 minutes by early morning and delta sleep periods are about 5—10 minutes in between the REM period decreases as morning approaches. During REM we enter sleep paralysis, so we do not act our dreams. AS towards morning REM periods are longer, and sleep paralysis more pronounced and available to us,. We thus use the morning time to enter in to conscious sleep.

VI). What has yoga sutra to say on this subject? Refer Sutra I (38) steadiness of the chitta, the thinking instrument) can be reached through meditation on the knowledge which dreams bring. (these dreams are concerned only with whatever the happens at the perineum area in sleep.)

Let us read exposition: At this advanced stage, ‘dreams’ have quite a different meaning. Dreaming, normally is images seen when asleep (hence dreaming during the day is called day-dreaming) and fancy is dreaming during waking hours. What then is meant by dreams at this stage ?

Once the complex human system (the disciple) has established communication with Ishvara the Gurudeva. Since all running away from normal life and obligation is prohibited, one must live one’s normal life during walking hours; but in sleep, the psychic body and manas system is trained and given experience by the gurudeva. The psychic body and manas are involved here because on the way to progress, one must go beyond the

131

objective life and objective universe and enter Bhuvah. Since both the physical body/brain system and the psychic body/manas system are now synchronised, communication can flow from one system to another. SO whatever learnt and experienced by the psychic body/manas system is relayed to the physical body/brain system; this information is now registered on the sensitive endless film in the registration area and the body / brain system, on awakening remember the information as dream.

Dream is the stuff this objective universe is made off. Any experience of this objective universe, whether they be dream in ordinary sleep or dream during waking hours or dreams during higher practices, whatever deals with other than Satyam is some type of dream. It may give knowledge, but is inferior to the experience of Ishvara, Satayam.

VII). A person reads much and / or practice much. In that case, his awareness is centred focused in reading or the practices. Actually his awareness should be centred in his awareness what we have called Pratiksha ----- For then only can he be really aware! Since his awareness has to be applied to reading and/or to practice, his awareness is mechanically reads or practices, and during such reading and/or practices his past memory will drift in comparing what he is doing with what he had done before. Once this mechanism of drifts comes in, any one of the five mechanism; habit, drift, brooding and day-dreaming, impulse / response, is enough to act as a fuse reducing high awareness to passive or low awareness. Whenever pure awareness is reduced, to that extent is serves; and when this link is served or weakened, one experiences the universe as manifold. To defeat this individually, one has to continually maintain for all 24 hours the state of high awareness within the human organism.

VIII). Between our present stage of insecurity, fear and doubt, and the stage of perpetual meditative attitude which brings about total illumination , is the stage of experimentation ----- a very long stage, if one enters in to with out-of-body experiences and the astral world, and also very dangerous for one comes in contact with entities on the astral plane, and if we are not properly guided and properly insulated the results could be a very often are tragic.

132

STEPS AND PRACTICES LEADING TO CONSCIOUS SLEEP :

Conscious sleep presupposes or rather is equivalent to attentive relaxation as the first step where or when,

Exercise :

I) Sit in or on a chair. Do three step rhythmic breathing for two minutes. After this concentrate on the palms. Remember mind is alert- so look at your palms, hold them in front of your body. Squeeze them tight and then open them out and stretch the palms. Fix the mind on the palms.

133

II) Now stretch the arms from the shoulder to tips of the fingers and harden them as much as you can in this position. Now relax and let the arms (i.e. Palms, forearms, biceps & shoulders) be free and relaxed. Repeat five times. Feel the blood rushing to the arms. Fix the mind on the arms.

III) Now stretch the left leg from the hip to the tip of the toe. Harden the front and rear thighs, calves right up to the toes and then relax. Repeat five times. Fix your mind on the left leg. Do the same with the right leg.

IV) Now stretch the neck and harden as much as you can and then relax. Repeat five times. Fix the mind on the neck.

V) Now breath in deep and hold and expand the chest and harden as much as you can then relax and breath out. (Whenever tightening or hardening a part of the body, do not exceed five seconds.) Repeat five times. Fix your mind on your chest.

VI) Now breath out and pull the upper and lower abdomen in and hold tight- as much as possible. Now breath in and relax. Repeat five times. Fix your mind on the abdomen.

VII) Now from neck to the tip of the toe tighten up the body as hard as you can including neck, palms, arms, legs, chest, and stomach and relax. Do it five times. Fix the mind on the entire body. Now remain relaxed and carry on with three step rhythmic breathing.

But the mind must remain very alert even now when relaxing so as to feel relaxed state all over the body and on that part of the body which is exercised, both when hardened and relaxed. Let not the mind wander anywhere during this practice. It will keep your whole body in a relaxed state without your trying to release it all the time and is conductive relaxed sleep where or when the mind is alert but body is deeply relaxed.

This will lead to refreshing sleep. Now to give you the idea of conscious sleep; Samuel Coldrige writes, “What if you slept and what if in your sleep

134

you dreamed, what if in your dream you went to Heaven and there you plucked a strange and beautiful flower and What if when you woke up, you had the flower in your hand ! Ah What then ? !!

Ordinary dream is different, you will not be able to bring the flower. Flower here is anything that you can (which is substantial) bring from your sleep. (BOOK) sutra (38). Refer rearranged book IV ‘Peace (steadiness of chitta) can be reached through meditation on the knowledge which dreams give ‘Knowledge—pure knowing is what you bring from conscious sleep - and since it is brought when in the state of sleep - it is also called dreams, but such dreams are totally different, remember“ and what if when you woke up, you had the flower in your hand “ The flower is a token of pure knowing. In pure knowing you learn what no book or teacher or external guru can teach. This is called developing one’s critical faculty.

Time estimates in conscious sleep are on the same scale as in a motion picture, days follows night in few minutes but on a realistic scale. Action in sleep produce real effects on the brain and body. To the brain they can real.

Everything you see is important depending on remembering. Learn to remember what takes place in sleep. It is necessary. The important prerequisite in recalling.

Conscious sleep state is a state of awareness for the mind. By practicing you will know whether you have received a peculiar thought, a strong emotion (for what purpose) or feel an unusual sensation or have altered perception.

Emotions at first (sometimes) could be in – appropriate or duly overwhelming. Sensation can include the feeling of paralyses of the body or unexpected sudden and intense sexual arousal. In conscious sleep one is active at the perineum (equivalent area in the astral body). Perceptions may be clear or clouded or you may be able to see or hear something.

Examples:

(a) I seem to lift out of body, an caught by the covers but I sake free.

(b) I can hear two men talking even though they are far away.

135

(c) I was under water yet I was breathing.

(d) The car accelerates dangerously and the brakes do not work. But one must not wake up with the feeling of fear or put some meaning in what is seen, such perceptions and changing perceptions will come for some months.

(e) her face changes as I look her.

(f) I get lost because the sheets are not numbered.

(g) My car keys read Toyoma instead Toyata.

(h) My brother who has been dead was in the kitchen with me.

Solibhai on book III rearranged.

( Today : stage / diagram 3a.)

We must be aware of the quality of our thinking. We are not referring here to the quality of thought - they are two different subjects. The quality of thinking is dependent on the development of the thinking instrument, which is the brain plus something else. The quality of thought can be good with poor thinking instrument and can be bad with a good and a developed thinking instrument, just as an uneducated person need not necessarily be a bad person nor an educated person need necessarily be a good person. Then, when we check the quality of our thinking, we must discern whether it is (1) mere automatic response, (2) shallow thinking, (3) correct thinking, (4) logical thinking, (5) logical and correct thinking, (6) intuition, or (7) wisdom. All these shades of understanding are very essential and in a proper setting, with Sage Patanjali’s guidance of instructions given by word of mouth, one is better placed to make proper progress.

Sage Patanjali states in III (8) : “ the sequence of mental states is as follows : the mind react to that which is seen (or heard, felt etc.) ; then follows the moment of mind control. Then ensues a moment wherein the chitta response to both these factors (what is seem and reacted t ) Finally these pass away and the perceiving consciousness has full sway.” And further in III (9) “through the cultivation of this habit of the chitta there will eventually

136

occur a steadiness of spiritual perception. “ And finally in III (10) : “ The establishing of this habit (over a period of cultivation ) and the restraining of the mind (calming of the thinking instrument) from its thought making tendency, results eventually in the constant power to contemplate.

Only now, after these preliminary thoughts, does Sage Patanjali come to the subject of thinking. We human beings of our present age talk proudly of twentieth century, but how primitive our thinking is will become obvious if apply the various formulas HE HAS GIVEN. Our present thinking is nothing more than automatic reflex action E.g., If a bee were to sting us, our hand automatically slaps that spot on the body ; or someone says something, we get red in the face, we retort sharply or slap the person. It requires no reasoning or logic --- this is our so-called twentieth century thinking. Fully 95 % of the people all over the world indulge in this type of thinking all the time, and the other 5 % on hardly a few occasions, do not think like this. We have never been taught in schools this very important subject of correct thinking because we, being human beings, assume that we alone, perhaps in all existence, can think ! but thinking is a science and unless like any other faculty of science, it is taught properly, we shall remain ignorant of the science of thinking.

Therefore, the first, elementary step, we have to introduce at this stage is to pause for a moment. This is the most elementary method of mind control; we pause for a moment before reacting and do not just jump in to the well because our ego is hurt. How will you pause? Just take a deep breath and throw it out. Try it and see how relaxing it is. All the heat and passion created passes out of your mind with this one deep breath which you exhale forcefully.

The world’s woes between individuals, between groups and between nations is traceable to this facts, that we have never introduced this elementary first step of a pause, and that too for just one moment. Just a pause may not appeal to most and many not be possible for most, hence at that moment take just one deep breath and exhale it forcefully. When we pause thus for a moment before reacting, the initial emotional reaction passed away __ not

137

that we become angles but the white heat that is built up in our first reaction pulls up and is then much less.

Do you know why we still have this habit of automatic reflex action?

because for the last three sub-stages down the arc and the first three sub-stages up the arc, i.e. for over more than six eternities, we have had out primitive, wild, crude ways, our animal ways, of thinking and living, and reacting. They are deeply ingrained in us and we carry this memory patterns with us in this early 4th sub-stage on the upward arc. So not yet being free from this primitive, ugly, animal - like habits, we still continue to think in the same fashion. We think incorrectly, we breath incorrectly! But it now needs a radical change.

So with this pause, our behaviour pattern begins to change. This is not thinking yet – it is just a method to break an old wrong habit and the first step towards the method of correct thinking. And in the two sutras that follows – III (9 – 10) Saga Patanjali tries to emphasize the necessity at first to cultivate this habit painstakingly, for this pause has not yet become our memory pattern and what is not a memory pattern is not a habit, and for some time to resolve to do it consciously.

It then forms a memory pattern, and when this habit is established the old habit of automatic reflex action broken. Yet it is not correct thinking still; later we shall learn its practice and advanced method.

IV (27) : “ Through force of habit (inertia or tamas i.e. inherent in the matter of mind and body.) , however, the mind will reflect other mental objects of sensuous perception.” (emotions and sex, being crude and not yet refined will have their way.)

IV (28) : ” This reflections are of the nature of hindrances and the method of their overcoming is the same (the corrective methods). “

But Saga Patanjali cautions here further that even after establishing the new habit one should not relax, for the memory patterns of the old habits are not totally destroyed ant there are chances that the mind may relapse in to the same old habits due to inertia. Such intruding thoughts, coming as they do in

138

series of pictures, are hindrances or drifts : — hindrances to our subject of study or discussion, and drifts in as much as the mind loses its hold on the subject of study or discussion, picks up and then goes along this old series of pictures that has come in unasked for, the something entirely disconnected. How to over come this hindrances in our study or discussion and to learn to eradicate them from the drifts observed are subject matter of scientific study.

The brain is divided into three sections : 1) the fore or front brain, the registration area; II) The mid brain and, III) The hind or rear brain.

We receive incoming impulses through our five senses, i.e. through our electromagnetic field, but appear to receive them from our sense organs. Please remember that the two are not one and the same thing : “ the sense organ are not the senses themselves.” Through a network of Nadi, these impulses carrying messages are transmitted from the electromagnetic field to the spinal cord, the ultimate highway for nerve communication from all the areas of the physical body. They then travel via this spinal cord to reach the rear brain or base of the skull, an area incorrectly designated as unconscious mind. Anything unconscious can be of no use of our conscious progress ! We call this area the memory pool of accumulated memory pattern, and it is

divided into two sub - sections : IIIa marked ‘shallow’, hence all the memory pattern of this current life from conception onwards; and IIIb marked ‘deep,’ has all the memory patterns of all the millions of previous lives, duplicate copy brought from the super micro recording monitor and stored. Before this section IIIb deep, all the ocean of the world put together would look like a drop.

From the base of the rear bran, right over the top of the brain and across the brain is a channel through which rush all the incoming impulses received through the five senses. These impulses are not in any particular language but are universally coded, as are also all the memory pattern in both sections IIIa and IIIb. At this stage of our evolution only the top soil of the mid brain up to 2 mm deep is active, what is normally called the cortex. On both side of

139

this channel, denoted by small parallel dashes, you will; notice tiny dots between the dashes. There are thousand upon thousand of this dots each depicting a door or valve. In a person lead closed opened, as in diagram I, each such door or valve open and closes without any control. When open, they release in this channel a series of pictures (not just one single picture). Normally the incoming coded impulses, as per their coded messages, automatically opens such valves or door of related or identical memory patterns, couple with this memory pattern released, and together they reach the core brain.

Here, as per reaction or as per use of the pause habit, the four centres within section I marked I – E – S – M , viz. The intellectual ,. Emotional, Sex and Movement centres, suck up these impulses with their coded massages along with the identical memory patterns that have come along adding the colouring of the past experience, and in less than a fraction of a moment---- in 1/ 10,000th of a second—release them both back into the registration area that is filled with the flowing UDM ( that flows out at Ajna ). By ‘colouring’ of the four vital points we mean motive and inherent qualities predominant are superimposed.

That is , the influence of situations from the past, whatever the experience, whether pleasant or painful, is added and is responsible for our reactions to these impulses received in the ratio prevalent, whether 2 : 4 : 8 : 2 or 5 : 2 : 2 : 1 . ( for I-E-S-M respectively ) or somewhere in between.

This Section I together with Section IIIa and IIIb form the human movie camera situated in the brain, in full colour and extremely sophisticated. There are two such computers, one in section I, the registration area, and another usually in the memory pool section IIIa ( though it can be section IIIb), working in tandem.

The front brain is an independent computer like the rear brain, though they do work together, while the mid brain is the master computer which coordinate all computers and makes its own decision, whether to feel, or to act, or simply to refile or suppress without any sort of expression. THIS

140

suppression can be dictated by diplomacy, cowardice or respect and our final decision, a thought form, is a coded impulse conveyed from a point, ajna or the magnetic point, a little behind and between the eyes, marked in diagram1 as #7. These four centres in the front brain work ceaselessly like a computer – refer to the intensity chart which show how the front brain works non stop.

Four factors are needed to make thought picture or forms and to participate in the process of thinking, from the most elementary or primitive or sub-human to the most logical or subjective or so-called higher thinking. In short, all so called thinking is merely a neural process carried out by the two computers of the brain, section I and section III a-b, mechanically and automatically. The data feeding the computers are incoming impulses and identical memory patterns, the processing material is the Universal Divine Mind, and the processing equipments are the four centres I -- E –S – M in section I of the brain computer.

In the fore – brain, when the incoming impulses and identical memory patterns are sucked up by the four points I – E – S – M ( in either of the ratios ), with the moment of mind-control-----via a pause or deep breath, which would take a second or more-----these four vital points I-E-S-M pause for a second or more and so do not colour these sucked up incoming impulses and identical memory patterns before dropping them back in to the registration which is filled with the UDM. With their life-span being a very small fraction of a moment, these incoming impulses and identical memory patterns are then dead---- they float out as dead bodies at the point a, Ajna and disintegrate, for the life giving substance, the UDM has been withheld from them for a second or more of the pause. Thus no picture forms are made, no modification of the mind or the thinking instrument take place. So we realize what this moment of pause can do. ----- it is a great step and has to be cultivated consciously and diligently and this habit is to be established. Thus we can consciously prevent thought forms or mind modification, can we or can we not? theoretically it seems possible but the answer is ‘ NO’.

As long as a person is at the stage of diagram 1 & 2 , when the ratio 5 : 2 : 2 :1 is not established , it is not possible for the simple reason that the

141

movement of incoming impulses is at molecular speed and our conscious efforts to introduce a pause is a cellular speed. So physically the impulses come at 1/120th of a second and fastest introduction of a pause may require half a second. Such persons have only their sympathetic system functioning and the parasympathetic system or corrective system is yet not developed and functioning.

Those who are at stage 3a and are established in the ratio 5 : 2 : 2 : 1 have their parasympathetic system also functioning and so a pause can be introduced automatically with the help of this corrective system at the speed of 1/120th of a second; when the floe of incoming impulses and the introduction of the pause is at the same speed , then, ( like changing of car gears ) the pause can be introduced smoothly and effectively. Only then can the thought forms and mind modification be consciously prevented. This is a great achievement, leading to one to the next stage 3b.

Our progress from one state to another is scholarly expressed by Sage Patanjali in his Yoga Sutra. The introduction of a pause, the elimination of drifts, the corrective methods, etc all --- do change negative intensities to positive intensities i.e. make a person progress from diagram 1 to diagram 2 stage an and with continuous practice reach diagram 3a stage.

The diagram 1,2, and 3a show how from crude, automatic reflex action with violent emotions and sex and cunning intellect, we proceed to a state of logical thinking with emotions and sex refined. The intensity ratio changes from 2:4:8:2 to 5:2:2:1, but even so we are still indulging in thinking. Thinking of any sort, however noble or scholarly, is merely an automatic mechanical process of the computers, and all such expressions are but the output of the data fed in at sometime or the other. A good man, a noble man, a primitive man, a bad man are all equally mechanical and equally interchangeable if the data that is fed in their computer is changed over a period of time. Hypnosis is one of the methods of doing this, brain washing (introduction)is another, and there are many more methods, both crude and sophisticated, to bring about such a desired result.

So the correct, logical thinking with plus intensities, which seems a very correct state, is itself a limited and incorrect state. Thinking right or wrong,

142

automatic or logical, binds a person in some manner, for such process involve the mind and as long as mind as involved, modification of mind take place. For the absolutely correct state is one that leaves brain and mind separate, each to work in its respective sphere. How can this be done? One of the ingredients, viz. Memory patterns, that are by the trillions extending into past eternities, are totally disintegrated. These memory patterns are seeds. Till they are totally disintegrated this unnatural physical birth to live an unnatural life will be forced on us. If one cannot disintegrate them, then one must freeze or bypass them.

In the absence of memory patterns, the incoming impulses are not recognized nor understood (only a question arises, who or what is this?) and so are not acted upon; so no thought formation takes place. The result is that there are no modifications of the mind and the UDM flows out uncontaminated. It is only when this stat is achieved. When these modifications ceases, then can one have the clean mind of Buddha of later stage 3b. In this state normal life is possible and yet no thought forms are created.

If this state is constantly held, all past memory and memory patterns to die away and one is freed from repeated physical births. But for memory patterns to die takes more than a few eternities if no conscious steps are taken. Even state 3c is possible only if state 3b is first obtained and held, i.e. cultivated and then established. (Next time : stage/ diagram 3b.)

As we have been talking about the Bhuah Universe, we must take a look at the minor ring pass not. This is the small barrier between the Bhuv and Bhuvah universes. This small barrier consists of two delicate electromagnetic fields. Today we shall try and have a look at what these fields mean to us. This becomes all the more important today as science is seriously studying these electrical fields and the results of these fields experiments have been truly amazing. We shall also try to relate Patanjali‘s sutras to the results of scientific experiments. Before proceeding further let us first see what Mr. T had to say about these fields.

143

Mr. T says :

1) There is a constant electromagnetic field surrounding the secondary / physical body. This field depends for its proper working on the electromagnetic field of the primary body.

2) During all the 24 hours the two fields keep moving relative to each other and are seldom steady. On their movements between ¼” and 1” , various moods come upon an individual.

3) Between 2—5” separation there are very many states and stages of sleep.4) Up to 5” the normal biological functions within the organism continue with

some marked inhibition, or accelerations.5) But when the primary electromagnetic field recedes substantially, or near totally, i.e. between 6”—9” a state of clinical death takes place. If it happens accidently or due to certain biological reasons it calls for immediate medical attention. If however, this clinical death state is brought about consciously, then it is a very high state of yoga practices.

6) The secondary electromagnetic develops within the physical organism. The energies of (a) sensitiveness i.e. the energies of emotions and sex, or of rajas and tamas, in varying proportions, plus the physical energy for movement and the energies of electricity and magnetism for various internal functions.

7) The primary electromagnetic field develops within the primary body the energies of life and awareness. It therefore follows that whenever this primary recedes beyond 5” the energy of life begins to ebb from the secondary body. But this is not so when the movement is brought consciously, which is a very advanced stage of Yoga practices.

Now let us see what science has to say about these fields:

1) Till now it was thought that there was only one electromagnetic field, but with recent experiments they are quite sure that there are two.2) The outer field is grosser than the inner one which is more subtle.. 3) Studies of the inner field tend to suggest that it is aura of a of a more finer or subtle body than the physical.4) In most people these two fields remain within one inch of each other, the more negative the emotional state the closer they come to one another. In deep anger or any other negative emotion the field sticks to one another.

144

5) When there is illness in the physical body the relevant area in the secondary fields takes on a shape corresponding to the illness. Further it forces primary field to take shape also. The illness in so further if there is a cure at cellular level the primary field tend to repeat the illness in some form or another.6) When a calm person was brought next to an angry person and both the fields shown amazing results were found. It was found that vibration of an angry person entering the field of the calm person. When this happened the secondary field of the calm person immediately started taking the shape of that anger i.e. take the shape of the anger. If the primary field took the shape of anger then that calm person became angry. Further the experience of anger stays recorded in the primary field, giving all the pathological effect to the secondary field.7) Suppose the calm person somehow not allow his primary field to take the shape of the anger than it was seen that anger could not enter his system even though the secondary field had taken the shape of the anger. Not only that by doing this his primary field developed a resistance to further anger

8) Each disease makes part of the fields take on certain shapes or certain shapes are related to certain diseases. It is known that every element and organism in nature has its own basic electromagnetic field. Many of these are similar in shape to those assumed by the diseases. e.g. A person suffering from depression, this depression is record by a certain shape in his primary field. Suppose gold ( aurum) is an element which has a similar shape top that shape assumed by depression, then by introducing gold in medical for in that depression person’s field, the primary field suddenly starts trying to cure itself of depression. This is verification of the homeopathic principle which says that similar cures similar.

9) Let us look at two sutras of Patanjali I—2, 3 , & 4. He says in 2 “Yoga chitvriti Nirodha-Yoga is the calming of the vrittis. Then if that happens ‘tada drsthu swarupe avasthanam’, ehen this has been accomplished , the yogi knows himself as he is reality or we can translate the word svarupa to mean in his own shape or in his original shape. In the next sutra he says vritti

145

sarupyam itaratra, uptil now the inner man has identified himself with his form and their active modification. Let us take the word sarupyam to mean, to take the shape of. So it would mean that he takes the shape of the active modifications or as in the last sutra he is in his own shape. Let us now see sutras in light of our studies of the electromagnetic fields. We saw that when an angry person came close to a calm one, vibration from the angry field bounced to the field without anger. The secondary field immediately started taking the shape of the anger. Now if the primary field also took the shape of the anger it would mean vritti sarupyam, i.e. the inner man would get identified or become angry. Suppose he did not allow the inner field to take the shape of or become sarupyam with the anger, tada drastuh svarupe avasthanam. Is attention the key to holding back the primary field. Does the three step rhythmic breathing, done relentlessly over a long period of time help to hold back the primary field? Attention would definitely be the help to hold back the primary field. But holding a divided attention over a long period of time is very difficult if not nearly impossible. This is because the momentum of the patterns in the primary field would make it time and again go back and stick to the secondary field. Thus the state of divided attention would lost time and again. So it becomes imperative that these patterns which at present are an intrinsic part of the primary field would have to go or be changed. AS we all know the refining exercises do this special task of clearing the primary field of all the patterns. This becomes very important because at the time of death the two fields separate and if the primary field carries with it all the patterns of secondary and of diseases and the habit patterns etc. Then it is going to repeat them again.

As we saw Mr. T said that the energies of life and the energies of awareness are made in the primary body. Before we go further it is very important to understand these two energies, how they interact with one another and what is the end product of their interaction. This end product Mr. T called the energy of essence of consciousness. He quality or grade of which will depend upon the quality or grade of the first two energies. The energy of awareness is produced by the digestion of the air we breathe. The air we breathe reacts

146

with the patterns of the primary field to produce the energy of awareness. Thus the quality of awareness depend upon two factors, (a) the way we breath and (b) the type of patterns in the primary field. The energy of life is formed from (a) Incoming impulses and (b) identical memory patterns As we all know the totality of memory patterns forms a spectrum or a structure of acceptance. The manifestation of this structure are the patterns in the primary electromagnetic field which are responsible for the type of incoming impulses we can invite. So we now see that the quality of both the energies produced in the primary body depends upon or are connected to the quality of the patterns in the primary field. These energies in turn go to produce the energy of essence of consciousness, which Mr. T. said, slowly builds the bridge to the DIVINE FRAGMENT.

So the key is to hold the primary field not allowing it to touch or take the shape formed by the secondary field. We have seen that the key to doing this is divided attention. Let us now see how difficult is to hold the divided attention. Let us now see the role played by the three step rhythmic breathing. The patterns in the primary field continuously go through a process of reinforcement, i.e. every time the secondary field relives the emotions and the primary field is identified with it., there the patterns in the primary field get reinforced or stronger. or stronger. By 3SRB we provide an insulation to the primary field, this does not allow it to identification, instead of meeting an identical memory patterns to get reinforced, the primary field meets or gets temporarily coated with a film of rhythm. The old pattern on the primary field slowly it get erased. Over a period of time with continuous 3SRB the primary field and the primary body making it ready the higher practices of Yoga. i.e. production of a high quality of the energy of essence of consciousness. As the level of awareness depends upon the way we breathe, it is slowly reaches a very high level, this now becomes a vehicle for the expression of this higher awareness. With 3SRB being established divided attention becomes a second nature with no effort going into trying to hold it.

What now is the relationship between the two fields?

147

Can it ever be anything else but that of RADHE KRISHNA. The secondary field becomes RADHE and the primary Field KRISHNA. And they relate to one another as in an eternal leela. This is reflected in the 3SRB breath which flows with RADHE –KRISHNA. KRISHNA gives his total love to unwandering attention to RADHE and she responds with total love and devotion. Each has found the other leading to a never ending dance of initiation and transformation.
