All inside team members check in at the dining hall. Pick-up & wear nametags Assistant Rector/a has sleeping assignments information. Help people find their bed. Rector/a greets and encourages people, assists where possible

Head Inside Cha o Get Rollo Room (Chapel) keys from camp director Chuck Hensley; take

responsibility for unlocking/locking Rollo Room & chapel each day.o Direct setup of Rollo Room; Music Team to assist.

Some random chairs for socializing before bell rings. Prepare for Bible Processionals/Recessionals; locate equipment and ready

it – Bible, table, and 2 candles. Round tables and chairs are in the storage room accessed through the

women’s restroom in the Rollo Room.o Ensure table name placards with bases are available for the morning. Check to

make sure you have all the table supplies: trash bags, table boxes-supplied with 6 pens, colored pencils, colored markers, blue tape for hanging posters, poster paper, prayer request boxes-one in each bathroom and one on coffee table, one in pilgrims’ chapel.

o Make sure VDCWW banner is up in the Rollo room.o Locate and prepare pilgrim notebooks (for Pilgrims & Table Leaders)o Readers for Friday morning chapel – mark the scripture in the Bible. Check with the

Rollo Room. Assistant Rector/a does final check of Rollo Room to ensure everything is prepared.

BIBLE PROCESSIONAL

Head Inside Cha Each morning you select three people for the bible processional. The person in the middle carries the Bible and the others hold a lighted candle on each side of the person who will do the reading. After the reading, the Bible will be placed on a table with the candles placed on each side.

At the end of the day, three different people are selected, one reading the assigned passage and the others holding the candles. These three people then leave the room and extinguish the candles.

Music Team – “Ancient Words” is played as they process up to the front.

FOOT WASHING – Spiritual Directors Team - Allo 3 stations of 6 chairs set up in the front rowo First round, 3 Spiritual Directors wash feet of Rector/a, Assistant Rector/a, Observing Rector/a o 3 palanca chas, one for each station, bring fresh towels and warm watero Rector/a and Head Spiritual Director at first station, Assistant Rector/a and Spiritual Director at

second station, and Observing Rector/a and Spiritual Director at third stationo Decurias come up as a group and sit down at a station. Pilgrims and table leaders that want to have

their feet washed remove their shoes and socks.o Spiritual director at each station approaches each pilgrim right to left and asks if they would like their

feet washed. If they say yes, the spiritual director washes their feet. Otherwise, the spiritual director prays over them.


o Laity assistant follows behind spiritual director, drying off feet with towel and helping put socks and shoes back on if necessary.

o Once all Pilgrims in the decuria have had their feet washed and dried, decuria returns to their pew and the next decuria comes up.

o Once all decurias have had their feet washed, other team members may come up if they wish

Pilgrims will have time for prayer with the spiritual team and their table; Pilgrims should all stick-around praying until dismissed; If they want additional time in the chapel after that they stay and pray.

o Leads Pilgrims in an open discussion of the weekend and their relationship to Jesus Christ. What part of the weekend had the most impact on each.

Note: keep this discussion time short (i.e. save witnessing for Clausura).o Speaks about the Pilgrims being apostles for Christ saying,

“This is the Apostolic Hour. Apostle means, “sent one.” You are sent from this place by Christ to work for Him. You represent His business, to serve Him. It is a joyful responsibility that we have. “Each of you will be called by name and presented a cross to wear to remind you of Christ’s call and His love for you. We will announce these words to you, “Christ is Counting on You.” Your reply, then, is, “And I am counting on Christ.” Come and receive your cross as your name is called.

Spiritual Directors presents a cross to each Pilgrim saying, “(Name), Christ is counting on you.”


Pilgrim responds, “And I am counting on Christ.”

Regarding Secrets : The Head Spiritual Director speaks to the Pilgrims saying,

“We hope that you have enjoyed your weekend. We have enjoyed being with you and getting to know you. There have been many special moments during these three days, some or all of which we would want our friends or relatives to share and enjoy. So the temptation is to turn the special moments into secrets. Remember, it may be detrimental to the Via de Cristo movement to give others the impression that there are secrets.

“There are, in fact, no secrets. When you tell your friends about the weekend, answer any question they may ask! They will probably not ask you about an agape dinner, or a mananitas. Please refrain from using the word “secret” or “surprise” as they both may be misunderstood.

“Those special moments can be referred to as just that – special moments – and left for your friends to experience when they attend their weekend. Besides, your friends can’t possibly remember everything anyway, so tell them all about it as you see fit.

Head Spiritual Director initiates open prayers of Thanksgiving. o Pilgrims may offer prayers at this time. o Finally, all stand and say the Lord’s Prayer together.
