vCheck Overview

vCheck is the quality management system at the core of Valor’s manufacturing execution suite for dynamic assembly. This system was developed specifically for electronics manufacturers who need to minimize the occurrence of non-quality and drive their manufacturing process to optimal performance by balancing quality, throughput and cost.

vCheck is a fully featured quality system designed to increase profitability and customer satisfaction by making all aspects of quality testing and inspection visible to any decision maker. Your Key Process Indicators (KPIs) are optimized through the use of vCheck’s core features.

vCheck Module Descriptions vCheck Database Framework SLT-0112 Provides the database infrastructure and core applications for managing the foundation of the system. This includes tools for setting up users and their authorizations, defining the factory including equipment & manual operations, management of defect & repair codes, and triggers for quality alarms. The framework also provides the tools for managing the definition of units to be assembled based on their hierarchical BOM structure – supporting Printed Circuit Assemblies as well as full systems, and the definition of assembly panels. Full support of work orders and their association with the unit being assembled and the operation plan / process routing being used is provided by this framework. NPI Data Importer SLT-0211 This module imports BOM and graphical CAD data from NPI systems including FATF, GENCAD and Valor’s ODB++ as well as many additional formats. Seamlessly integrates with your existing Trilogy or vPlan installation allowing you to leverage your current investment into the quality domain through the benefit of a single data import workflow for both your process preparation and quality management needs. ERP Interface SLT-0212 XML based interface which allows for the automated movement of key information from the customer’s Enterprise Resource Planning system into vCheck. The interface covers the following information: shop floor operation definitions, operation plans (routings), work orders and multi-level hierarchical BOMs with revisions. The system can be configured to automatically update vCheck according to a predefined schedule.

Data Warehouse and Reporting SLT-0311 This option provides a comprehensive data warehouse which is optimized for the analysis of your quality data while not impacting the performance of the real-time database infrastructure. It gives visibility to your operation’s quality performance through extensive web based reports and allows for the detailed analysis of quality trends and the determination of the root cause of issues with simple to use charts supporting drill down and pivot table capability. The definition and generation of custom reports is easily accomplished with this platform. Enforced Routing SLT-0312 The ability to ensure that your products are properly manufactured according to their manufacturing process definition is obtained with this module. The system ensures strict compliance with defined routings by verifying that the product has successfully passed previous test and / or inspection operations before being allowed to proceed to the next operation. In the case that the product is at the wrong location the system informs the operator at what operation it should be at. Causer Operations SLT-0313 Determines which assembly operation is responsible for a particular defect, and when combined with the real-time reporting and analysis capabilities of vCheck provides a platform ideal for driving continuous improvements. Unit Marking and Registration VCK-0111 This module ensures that all quality and routing related information about a product can be linked to it at each operation in the manufacturing flow by providing the capability to mark and register units (systems, sub-systems, and boards). The ability to register units already marked with a bar code or to generate and print serial numbers is supported. For

PCB marking, complex panels are supported along with a graphical view showing the required location of the applied labels. Unit Marking Interface VCK -0112-xxxx When an operation has automated their unit marking process through the use of laser marking or automated label placement equipment, these modules allow vCheck to interface directly with the equipment eliminating the need for manual scanning to register the units in the system. WIP Registration Point VCK -0113 This tool provides the basis for Work In Process tracking and routing control providing a client application for scanning a unit at a particular operation or location in the manufacturing environment. The tool will record that the unit has been at the operation along with the date and time stamp, and when routing control is enabled will inform the operator if the unit does not belong at this operation along with telling them where it should be. Level 1 Visual Inspection (VI) VCK -0211 Provides an easy to use and intuitive interface allowing PCA visual inspection operators to easily log whether a board has passed or failed along with defects they detected and any repair actions they performed. This tool supports sample testing of batches of PCAs using the Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) methodology. WIP tracking, and when enabled, enforced routing are also supported. Level 2 Visual Inspection (VI) VCK -0212 Along with all the capabilities of the level 1 Visual Inspection module, this application simplifies the identification and logging of defects by adding advanced graphics combining photographic views of the printed circuit assemblies with detailed information about parts and pins from the CAD data. instructions can be used to guide the operator to look out for the most common issues and the logging of component defects is accomplished by simply selecting the right location on the image of the product. Level 1 Test, Analysis and Repair VCK -0311 Designed for advanced root cause analysis and repair of defective printed circuit assemblies, this module presents symptom information to the operator that was automatically collected from automated test equipment or allows them to manually enter this information from drop down lists. As well as presenting the exact details regarding the incorrect measurements or symptoms, the user is guided by a detailed histogram for each symptom showing previous defects, that when repaired, fixed previous products. Along with the logging of all defect and repair information, this application fully supports WIP tracking and enforced routing. Level 2 Test, Analysis and Repair VCK -0312 Along with all the capabilities of the level 1 Test, Analysis and Repair module, this application greatly enhances the ability of the operator in the analysis of faulty units by adding advanced graphics displaying the layout view of the PCB with cross-linking and highlighting of selected symptoms and associated components and circuits / nets. System Assembly Inspection VCK-0411 This module is a powerful tool designed to provide the user with all the functionality required to manage quality around your system assembly or field return operations. The client guides the operator, using advanced graphical instructions, in collecting the information needed to create a full genealogy of all sub-units that are assembled in the system ensuring that a complete quality history for the entire system is properly maintained. As it prompts the operator to scan or capture the serial numbers of each sub-unit, it can also prompt for additional key information such as

alternate serial numbers, MAC addresses, Firmware versions, etc. The logging of defects and repair actions is fully supported at the unit, sub-unit, and part level by simply selecting an item on the display of the complete Hierarchical BOM, which is cross linked with digital images of the assembly, and entering the relevant defect and repair codes. The client fully supports WIP tracking and enforced routing. Tester Interfaces VCK-0511-xxxx The collection of test results can be fully automated through the use of the extensive library of tester interfaces offered with vCheck. The tester interfaces support the capture of the serial number of the tested unit, whether it has passed or failed the test, and for failing units all the symptoms that are part of the full test results (fault ticket). The system can also be used to connect to customized testers with a generic XML based tester interface. The interfaces support complex panels as well as WIP tracking and Enforced routing requirements.
