USHCC Endorses Judge Sotomayor for Supreme Court Board of Directors urges prompt confirmation by Senate.

Washington, DC - The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the national representative for the almost 3 million Hispanic-owned businesses, this past week fully endorsed the recent White House nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court of the United States. The endorsement follows recent actions by the USHCC—including a unanimous vote of support for Judge Sotomayor by the USHCC’s Board of Directors, and the organization’s participation with several other national Hispanic organizations in a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid—to demonstrate support for her nomination.

“Our position is clear. President Obama could not have made a better choice for the United States Supreme Court than Judge Sotomayor,” said David C. Lizárraga, USHCC Chairman of the Board. “Her life experiences have taught her how to be a responsible and fair jurist. Legal experts have recognized that she has a balanced approach to reviewing cases, and her positions relating to business are also well balanced.”

Judge Sotomayor has extensive experience as a litigator and judge, and her record reflects her practical and non-ideological approach to business law. She has a reputation for deciding cases that impact the business community with careful attention to applicable law and precedent, thoroughly reviewing the facts of the case, and understanding the real world impact of her rulings. “The USHCC believes that as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Judge Sotomayor will continue to build on her reputation as a fair and impartial jurist. Her long and accomplished record speaks for itself, and that is why we encourage the U.S. Senate to act without delay on reviewing her nomination and confirmation for this position,” Chairman Lizárraga concluded.
