To Our Southern Region Family, We are truly a family; we celebrate together, work together, ski together and are totally committed to the sport of Water Skiing. Thank you all for your hard work and efforts to keep this sport alive. As we head into the 2019 season, we should be constantly looking at new ways to grow our sport, not hosting more tournaments but through more participation, increasing membership and developing new talent. Our numbers have dropped drastically over the past years but we, as individuals, families and LOC’s can change that trend by finding new people to join our family. There are millions of people who are enjoying their Life on the Water and are just waiting for the chance for people like us to invite them in and show them what we love so much. Brining new people into our Water Ski Family will grow the sport to the benefit of all of us. We lost some key people this year and we should make sure their families know that we care. To the Families of Jerry Woodard, Ralph Meloon, Hal Stata, Lee Mershon, Bob Hutcherson and Gene Davis, we want to thank you for sharing these people with us. It was our gain to have worked and skied with this group. Hurricane Michael hit the Panhandle and dealt a big blow to the residents. Keep those families in mind but also let’s thank those Skiers that have stepped up and offered to lend a hand. It has been amazing to hear of help from so many people from all the surrounding states. You all are true friends! There was a ton of good news also! A great Nationals in KS with the highest turnout we have seen in a number of years. Remember our Nationals will be in West Palm Beach for the next two years, so let’s try to get as many people there participating as possible. LymanLand is hosting our Regionals so that is a great place to start with big numbers of participants. Regina J swept awards at the USA-WSWS awards banquet and set a world record along with Anna Gay. Freddy K rack up another great season. Our new Executive Director Nate Boudreaux has hit the ground running and is making great strides in fixing critical issues that will help us grow membership and sponsorships. A recent push by manufacturers providing discounts on equipment should make us all happy. Good News from the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation. The new 3-event lake is almost done at the Lake Myrtle Complex, the Cable Park is ready to go and that means the new Hall of Fame and HQ building is soon to follow. I still need to remind everyone to keep up on your clinics and credits as officials. Don’t wait till the last minute, as that has hurt many of us. Clinics are now being held on-line with Safety now working on that program. You have no excuse to miss a clinic - Stay up to date! The Safe Sport Education has great value to all Parents, Coaches and Instructors. Everyone should consider take those courses – They are an eye opener! I also want to put in a big push for all of us to support our US Teams. The US continues to dominate the world of Competitive water skiing but our teams are not adequately funded. Great efforts provided some funding last year which was a big help to competitors who represented the USA at competitions last year. I urge all of you to help our teams out by donating what you can. • Overall three event skiers with a Level 5 Ranking in each event (who skied and scored three events at their respective state tournament) shall be allowed to ski all three events at the Southern Regional Championships.

• Skiers scores from tournaments, class C and above, between the cut-off date (COD - June 28) and the absolute final day for entry (late entry date July 22, 2019) to the Southern Regional Tournament, that meets or exceeds the locked in base number required for their events/division, in either the Ranking List by “Rank” or by raw score, shall be qualified to enter the Southern Region Tournament.
